    Heartstrings Pet Lodging And Spa
Heartstrings was kind whenever we called in to check on our cat, and when we came to pick him up, he seemed comfortable and content. We have used Heartstrings' boarding services three times this year, and we have been satisfied each time.

The dogs like it here. They get to sleep together at night and play with other dogs during the day. It makes me feel better about having to leave them behind for my travels. They also will groom them if hey have availability which cuts down in the number of trips I have to make. They are well accepted as the best in the area, and as a result they frequently have no vacancy. Book well in advance, especially if you will be gone on a holiday or weekend.

    VILLAGE GROOMER
Ken always does an excellent job on Ozzie. He comes home looking and smelling great. Since he has a double coat and blows it at least twice a year, grooming him takes patience and talent. The Village Groomer excels in both. I have taken my dogs there for many years. I have never been disappointed. When I had elderly dogs, the care shown them was exceptional. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else.

    MAIN STREET VETERINARY CLINIC
Fine. Staff is friendly and they take you in a timely manner and visits are quick. Their prices may be higher than other vets in the area and one of my medications that I use was exorbitant. I ordered a medication for my dogs my previous vet used. Main Street does not use it so it was much higher. I now know to ask prices first.

Nature Calls NRV Pet Waste Removal Specialists
The provider came and talked with me about his business, the services they provide and estimated costs of each service.  Not only do they provide pet waste removal for yards, dog kennels and lots, but they also provide services for patio, deck and porch clean up, tree debris and cigarette butt removal, and installation of wireless/underground pet containment systems.  This was their first visit to my house and the yard was a "pet" mess as I had not been able to remove the waste for quite a while.  It took about one hour to remove all the pet waste in the back yard and a small area in the front yard (approximately 25 gals. of waste) at a charge of $100.  We were very pleased with their quality of their work, that it was done in a timely manner and felt the cost of the first visit was fair for the amount of work provided.  I asked about them about coming on a regular basis and the provider gave me an estimated charge for the various visits (costs vary depending on size of area cleaned).  We set up that they will be coming to my home bi-weekly from the first initial visit.  Since the first visit they have been to my home three times now.  They work fast and do a very good job.  They are also very friendly and trustworthy.  I'm very glad I found them and plan to keep them coming on a bi-weekly basis from now on.  I'll also call them to do a single pet waste removal visit if we have an event that requires use of our back yard and for tree debris removal.

    Heartstrings Pet Lodging And Spa
They receive a bath, trim, toe nails trimed, anal glands expressed. I have always been happy with the results. They let all the dogs loose together in a big room so they are not caged and my dogs love that. Of course, I am sure they know the dogs ahead of time and are sure that they are ones that get along together. They do take a long time so you must leave you pets most of the day. No groomer is inexpensive these days but I guess you pay for what you get. Would recommend them to anyone.

    Companion Animal Clinic
Our 17 1/2 year-old dog had fallen and was unable to get up and walk. We called Companion Animal Clinic, where we have gone for 15+ years and were told to bring him in. After an exam, we had a long and emotional talk with Dr. Downey about what to do. She was understanding and helpful, while leaving the final decision to us. We were present while our little dog was put to sleep and even given some time afterward to be with him. Everyone there was both sensitive and professional.

    BANFIELD THE PET HOSPITAL
The vet and staff at Banfield Roanoke are really nice. She is probably one of the nicest vets I have encountered over the years with my dogs. I brought my dog in on emergency and she was nice enough to fit him into her schedule. The only thing about this vet hospital is that they are very slow. You can bet your appointment is going to last at least an hour. My puppy is on the wellness because I am a college student and would rather pay $40 bucks a month than $200 every time I go to the vet. A puppy has to go to the vet so often for vaccines that it's a good deal. What's nice about my puppy's wellness plan is that he gets unlimited doctors visits, vaccines are included in the plan, his neutering is included, and he gets 10% off any medications. The only thing I have to pay extra is medications and any procedures, like blood tests and urine tests, outside of the plan. However, I would suggest not getting the wellness plan after the dog's first year because they will only be going to the vet 1 to 2 times a year unless there is an emergency or your dog is sick. The wellness plan is NOT insurance so don't get mad when you ask them to perform all of these tests and the bill is $400. The wellness plan just simply breaks up your payments. When visiting Banfield, or any vet, remember to not over-doctor your dog. Vets make money off of overpriced testing and medications. So, use your judgement and don't be afraid to tell the vet "No, I don't think that's necessary," and ask them "Is this test outside of the plan and how much is it?" Also, may pharmacies, like Kroger, now sell pet medications WAY cheaper than what a vet would charge. So, don't be afraid to ask the vet to write a prescription. Also, Petsmart sells a lot of over-the-counter medications. So, if your doctor tells you your dog need a probiotic, Petsmart sells probiotics. Petsmart also sells, but not limited to, eye washes, ear washes, deworming medications, and flea and tick preventative. Also remember dogs can take human medications. So, if the dog has diarrhea ask the vet if you can give them a 1/2 pill of Imodium.
