    Carilion Medical Center
Dr.Hutchnson is excellent--a fine communicator and double-checker. I've met with her about 5-6 times. Carilion should try hard not to let her get away. The main problem from my perspective is that Carilion needs to hire more in her speciality--it can be quite difficult to schedule appointments in reasonable time. Apparently there are too many first timers, many of whom fall to keep appointments or drop out of the program quickly, thus gumming up the scheduling ability for continuing clients.

    Marc Siegel MD
This is actually our second experience with him and thought that he did well the first time when I had and MCL sprain, diagnosed it correctly and recommended the proper treatment, so when my husband broke his finger and the ER recommended him, we were okay with seeing him. We thought for a minute that seeing a hand specialist in Christiansburg might be a better idea but we went with Dr. Siegel anyway. My husband had to have surgery to reduce the fracture, and it went well, however later on, we learned that the healing wasn't as expected and the and quot;callousand quot; (osteoblasts) were not aligned as they should. So my husband would not regain his full range of motion on that finger, if he were interested in that, he would have to have another surgery. The physician assistant even offered a referral to the hand specialist - which we could have gone straight to in the first place. It is a little frustrating that we weren't informed the risks and the possible consequences of the type of surgery performed. It was implied that the surgery would correct the fracture. We understand that healing does not always occur as expected, however, considering all the pain and annoyance of having a surgery, we wonder how it would have turned out if we went to the hand specialist to begin with.
