    Hometown Lawncare
The work I needed done was beyond the scope of the companies services. However, based on their interaction with me, I would not hesitate to contact them to perform work that would be more in line with their focus!

Larry was exceptionally responsive, professional, and conscientious. He responded quickly to my inquiry and came out the next day to give a quote and schedule the work. Bad weather prevented work on the scheduled day - but he gave me a head's up the day before letting me know it was a possibility and texted first thing on the originally scheduled day to reschedule. He came the following day and worked tirelessly for hours until the job was completed. I can't overstate how professional and conscientious this young man is.

Valley Landscaping re-landscaped a side of our house, which included removing some large trees, stump grinding, grading the soil, putting down sod, mulching a large steep bank, and planting a few small trees and perennials.   We discussed the work with Garrett beforehand, and from the start he seemed very arrogant.  When they had to change the plans a little bit due to some underground issue I wanted to be clear on what the new plan was, so I asked a few questions and when I expressed a little bit of concern over whether the flat area would be big enough he said something to the effect of "Look, I've been doing this a long time, and you seem to worry about a lot of stuff, so just try to stay calm and trust me things will be fine."   When I told him again the dimensions of the swing set and that I wanted to make sure it would fit he said "Y'all seem like the type of people that would buy a 30-feet boot for a 20-feet space".  I guess he was trying to be funny.   But I've never worked with somebody so condescending, and don't ever plan to work with him again.
The workers showed up on time and they did good work.  But it never failed that when it was quitting time for the day, they got the h*** out of dodge in a hurry without ever talking to me, even on the final day.   Poof, they were gone.  They hooked up a sprinkler around lunch time on the final day, and explained the sprinkler to me verbally in about 2 minutes, then went on about their work for the remainder of the afternoon.   That was the final day, and they left around 5:30pm without saying a word as usual.   One would think a professional company like Valley Landscaping would leave WRITTEN instructions on how to operate the sprinkler (including how often it should be running), how often to water the sod, the trees, and plants.   But no, when the work was done that was it.  And we're not natural green thumbs.  We expected some guidance in the form on clearly written instructions on how to care for the $10,000 landscaping job they just did.  Oh, and the sprinkler was faulty so it ran for about 12 hours straight before we realized it.  I thought it seemed to be running a lot, but then started doubting what the worker told me as far as how often it should run.  Again, providing WRITTEN instructions seem like a common sense thing for a landscaping business to provide it's customers.
Valley Landscaping does good work but that by itself isn't enough, so we likely will not use them for any future landscaping jobs due to the attitude of the manager and their communication style .

They are excellent.  Take the time to talk to you about what you need and don't try a one-size-fits-all approach.  They come when they say they will and are always polite and professional.  And our lawn looks fantastic.

Curb Appeal of New River Valley
Ricky Huffman said he would call once he gets the 50% deposit. Well, he did not call and showed up with crew trimming and working. No one was there and my husband arrived and was shocked that they disturb ed the paint on side of wall where vine was removed. The paint is lead based and there is now a mess of paint flakes on the ground. We wanted to inform them about the paint if they called before starting. They came back another day to finish the job. It is not finished. There are trees and bushes in back that needs to be trimmed and the lawn in the back was not mowed. But worst some mature trees and dogwoods on the side of driveway were cut down. There is now a gap where there were once a border between us and the neighbor house and it is shoddy hack job. We have told them not to return to the property. We now have to replace the trees removed and apologize to our neighbor on the hack job that affects their front yard as well. We now have to hire someone else to fix the mess. .

Total Lawn Care worked for me for years. They did everything in the yard and it always looked GREAT. A few years back I switched from them due to cost. However, I have regretted it ever since and am planning to go back with them. They are a little higher than other companies, but you get what you pay for. The company and all employees are extremely professional and responsible and, again, their work is stellar. I couldn't recommend them any more highly.

The crew worked diligently to weed the whole garden. Then they applied mulch (thicker than I expected) and edged the mulch bed very nicely. They also trimmed the trees and plants to make it a professional look. The price is very good, judging from the quality of work.
The foreman that led the team was professional and worked with me to make sure he understood my expectations. He put the customer first--later on, another supervisor followed up with the job. Proper attention was paid to the project.
Overall, we were very happy with the job and intend to use them on annual basis.

    Roanoke Landscapes
Randy was very professional, on time, and nice to work with.  While I'm not sure if I'll have this work done or not, I would definitely work with Roanoke Landscapes in the future when I have landscaping needs.  They are very good to work with!

    Horizon Lawn Care
My experience with Horizon Lawn Care had its pros and cons. I will honestly try and address both in this review.
? Quick to call back and provide an estimate
? Work was knocked out quickly
    ? Work looked good
? Scope of work I received was different from what I thought I would receive
? Weather prevented work from being completed all at once. Had to call back to get us put back on the schedule
I called and described what I needed done. I was at work and unable to meet Horizon and walk them through the job. I received an oral estimate and decided to work with them. Work began on agreed day and time, but only half the back yard was edged.
Apparently, there was a miscommunication between us. I believe Horizon Lawn Care was thinking one thing (I don't know why they were thinking I only wanted half of my yard edged) and I was thinking another. The work they did looked good, but I was expecting all of my yard to be edged.
When I communicated my disappointment, they were already in the process of packing up their gear and going to the next job. I was told that finishing the edging would need to be rescheduled and would cost more. My recommendation is to talk with them in person and walk them through your entire job.

Total Lawn Care are excellent. The workers they send are not young. They're mature people. They're very, very courteous. They check with me because I have dogs. So, they check with me to tell me they'll be there and I put the dogs up. The lawn looks wonderful. It's very manicured. It's weed-eated and cut to my specifications. Everything is done very professionally. It looks great. They come once a week. It's usually not the same day, but that's only because of our weather. In our area, we've had quite a lot of rain. So, they only come on the days it's not raining and they can cut and all.
