Sean scheduled a consultation shortly after I called and spoke to him. He knew the local regulations, which helped me decide what to do since I wanted the work done sooner rather than later. He gave me a very reasonable quote and was available within about a week. On the day of the work he showed up on time, did an excellent job, cleaned up after himself (a nice change from the contractors who had just done work inside my home) and then went over everything with me when I came to pay him.

At first everything went very well and they were punctual and the carpenters were super knowledgeable and skilled...for about a month. We were quite impressed and the porch roofs look great and were definitely planning on hiring them again. But then, when 99% of the work was done, they just stopped showing up and things fell apart. The last time they were out here was over a month ago and never finished the job. They left several fist-sized holes into our roof (where the porch roof attaches to the house roof) and we have since found 2 mice in the house...let's hope that's all and there aren't raccoons living in our attic. There are also a few other small issues that haven't been addressed, mainly cosmetic. I have called them several times and I was assured the problems would be fixed soon but they haven't been true to their word. The other part of our agreed upon project is the replacement of our back door, which has also not been done. At this point my hopes aren't high for this project and we will most likely hire someone else to finish the job. I have never been made to feel so unimportant as a customer before and this is unacceptable

We are extremely happy with the work that Goose Creek Builders has done for us, and are very thankful to have found someone we can depend on for quality work and fair prices. Sean knows how to fix most anything the right way, and will do a great job outlining options for any work that needs to be done. He is always there when he says he will be; we would recommend him without hesitation for any building project, large or small.

The project went very well. The price was fair and reasonable given the amount of work required. Mike, Lou and their helper started work and completed the project on the dates promised. They offered some excellent design suggestions such as  where to place the stair to the ground (the original deck had no stair) and how to modify the railing so as to permit the crank windows in the kitchen to open fully. The resulting deck is sturdily built, good-looking and functional. They were easy to work with and careful about such matters as not letting the dog out of the backyard, etc. When finished, they did a good job of clean-up and removal of debris, etc. I would not hesitate to use them again.

Benjamin Bear Associates / O.L. TURNER & Sons Inc.

I had purchased two 8' lengths of brick mold and the 8' 1x8's prior to Turner's arrival as he had advised and had already primed them to be ready for installation. He took a brief look at the window and said my best bet would be to replace the entire window; and that he would not be able to repair it to my satisfaction., certainly not for the $149 value of this deal. I explained to him that this window is a Pella replacement window installed as part of a total window replacement project in 2006. The rot requiring repair is on the window sill and brick mold surrounding the window, not the window itself, so I thought the suggestion that my best bet would be to replace the entire window to be absurd. These windows cost $1000 each eight years ago.

He asked if there was anything else I would like him to look at and I showed him three Hardy boards on the roof over the front porch that had been installed too close to the roof line and had soaked up rain water, softened  and needed replaced. He said my deal did not cover repairs above 8'.

Mr. Turner was only at my place for about 1/2 hour and I suggested that he should leave and that I would apply for a refund of my cost of this "deal" from Angies List. He said he would have to deduct the cost of his trip from my "deal". I said I should be entitled to a full refund.

    Atmosphere Builders
We solicited bids from firms that specialized in deck replacement as well as Atmosphere Builders who are general contractors. The basic message we gleaned from deck replacement specialists was that we had to do it "their way or the highway." Redesign was not negotiable with the specialists.
In contrast, Atmosphere Builders listened carefully to our deck upgrade descriptions and worked with us to redesign the rail system which was incorporated into the contract. Our concerns were to not only meet community architectural standards, but also to create an aesthetically pleasing deck upgrade with a natural appearance.
Atmosphere Builders replaced defective wooden deck beams, installed composite deck boards, custom fit existing rail posts with composite sheathing, and installed a unique and beautiful rail/baluster system. Atmosphere even went beyond the scope of the contract to install trim pieces, access door kick board, rail caps system and replacement of wooden posts that were warped.
Rick and Diane Hyatt, proprietors of Atmosphere, truly understand the meaning of customer satisfaction. One would have to go far and wide to find such dedicated service providers.

The job went smoothly and the work was performed with attention to detail and work of high quality. Atmosphere employs very professional workmen and they were attentive to our requests and wishes. During the remodeling, Atmosphere discovered that the footers supporting the second story had been located in the wrong place. We were very thankful for their notice and arranged to secure plans and installation of proper supports. Previously Atmosphere remodeled two upstairs baths for us and also did outstanding work. We recommend them highly.

Crockett has different crews for different operations.  That is painting, roofing, siding and decking.
Each crew was professional, competent, totally trustworthy.  They liked my dog who is "overly friendly" and they were friendly to him as well.
Mr crockett was very helpful in working with my insurance company, ensuring that they understood the magnitude of the job and that they covered the work that was done.  This was a HUGE benefit and his experience in dealing with my insurance company was a big factor.
All the work was expertly done.  The parts of the deck that were repaired look great.  The siding that was replaced looks like new and the roofing, the big job looks wonderful.  The exact tiles that were put on the house when it was built are no longer manufactured.  They were able to find an exact match, even though it was not the exact same manufacturer.  Their experience showed.
I then negotiated a fair price for them to do non insurance work, exterior painting.  Different crew, same excellent results.  Same excellent service and professionalism.
I also asked them to do a couple of other, minor things that i had not asked for initially.  I didn't notice them initially.  Small things, but important to me.  I did not have to "renegotiate" and then pay more for the extra that they did.
Good work, done professionally and with a smile.
    And they like my dog.

The overall experience was excellent. Mike came over within a few days of initial call to scope out work. Initially I was inquiring about deck work but while he was there, we started talking about sheds and he offered solutions to accommodate my sloping terrain. I was also interested in using space below the elevated deck but rain was deterrent. He told me about dry snap and success he had on prior job. I asked him to quote on deck work and shed. Overall I was very pleased with his professionalism and ideas to help me out. I got quotes within a day, I was good with cost and signed contract. Mother Nature caused some delay in start date, he kept me informed. Once prior job done and revised date established, came when he said he would and completed work in time specified. We did run into some snags but Mike and Lou had ideas to fix and fair cost adjustment. They were very friendly and always had good ideas to offer. Their workmanship was superior. Extra crew was brought on depending on work being done and they were all very diligent and friendly. They kept the work site very neat and clean. Mike said that he and Lou would be there every day for full time of the job and they were. I have to say that my deck looks great, is robust and way safer than before. The dry snap looks like a finished ceiling and will give me the usable space I wanted. The shed they built on site was exactly what I envisioned. It was built on post/ pier foundation. Again the quality and workmanship is excellent. It was their Ridgewood version. I would not hesitate to hire Mike and Lou do more work for me in the future.

Morris came out to our house and gave me an estimate for putting a gate on our deck, repairing and painting a damaged area around our front door and installing a vent to the outside in our bathroom. He answered the phone when I called and was able to come out and take a look the next day. He was very professional. He wrote down all the details and was careful to take measurements and determine what kind of paint we would need. He gave me an estimate that I deemed very reasonable. He scheduled the time to come and do the work and brought a helper with him. They worked very quickly and carefully. Morris went up into the attic and discovered that we did not need to put a vent to the outside because it was already done. Great job and I would recommend him highly!
