    I got a couple of estimates for this job, and Keith actually came in higher than the other.... but I felt more comfortable after talking with him so chose him to do the work. I was not disappointed. In every respect, we were pleased with our choice. Communication was excellent before, during, and after the job. The floors look beautiful. We'd had them done once before and had had a terrible experience with that outfit - just an awful job. The experience with Keith was the opposite. It cost more - but, as is often the case, you get what you pay for...

    This project was a complete nightmare.....at first it seemed things were going okay and then into the job Mr. Wood failed to provide material to his employees to continue and finish the project in a timely manner...he was untruthful about ordering material for the job and didn't stick with the signed contract.  I actually had to civilly and criminally threaten this man before he would finish the job and it was almost three months past agreed completion date.....he didn't care.  I contacted DPOR in Rchmond and he is being investigated for criminal and immoral practices.  I would never hire this man again to do anything for me nor would I recommend him.  The Better Business Bureau has him rated "F" and also a consumer alert on this web page about this man.  Then when the project was finally completed{?} he wanted more money than agreed to in signed contract.

    Wood signed a contract in June to do our basement and be completed by August 19, 2013 with a $25 per day penalty thereafter.  Mr. Wood assigned a "project manger" to the job, Mr. Mark Hight  had commented during the job that he was thinking not enough material would be ordered by Mr. Wood to complete the project....although we had already given $24,000 in three draws with $8,000 to be paid upon satisfactory completion of the job.  Also, Mr. Hight is listed as a "project manager" on his business card although he says that is a misrepresentation of his title and doesn't know why Mr. Wood had those made out that way.  Mr. Wood turned out to be untruthful about ordering material and giving dates that project would be finished.  He failed to pay his subcontractors and I was informed that unless I paid them they could place a lien on my property until paid in full.  

    Now Dale Wood today, September 24, 2013,  is demanding money from the last draw which is not due until project completed.  He indicates he can't complete the job unless he receives more money.  (Electrical, Plumbing, painting, sanding and finishing stairs, floor tile, bathroom tile, cabinetry and shelving)   There is much work left to be done and when I asked him what he has done with $24,000 of my money he replies it's all been spent on my basement.  He claims he has "xtras" to pay although he said the floor tile I ordered which is an upgrade of the ceramic tile was a "wash" due to the labor intense of installing ceramic tile compared to the upgrade tile I selected.  Since he has gone past the deadline date of August 19 he is adding cost of glue, grout, and other materials which was supposed to be included in the "turn key" price.

    My wife was informed by Mark Hight that Mr. Wood is a gambler and likes to take vacations.  I don't mind but I believe he has used a lot of the money that I paid him for the job to take has vacations.  He also indicated that Mr. Wood has been through controversy with customers in the past.  Another worker, Micky, indicated that he knew several people in the past that jobs have not been completed.  My have and I have been overly patient with Dale Wood but he has told many untruths and has given his word regarding matters pertaining to the ordering of materials only to find out he was untruthful.

    I have relayed this information to the Virginia Board of Contractors, BBB,, Bedford County Chamber of Commerce, Bedford County Commonwealth Attorney, and Bedford Town Police, Criminal Investigations.

    Better Business Bureau of Western Virginia has Woods Flooring and More, inc. rated "F".  I would never favorable recommend this company or Dale Wood.

    The Floors & More installers arrived on schedule and at the end of the first day they were about half done and I saw two problems with the installation:  rough saw cuts and large gaps on the trim of severals doors and flooring boards, that should have been discarded due to off-color / knots, were installed in the middle of the living room floor. 

    The next morning I called the business owner, and told him about the problems.  He responded saying "if I was unsatisfied with their work, he would tell his guys to leave".  Obviously not wanting to be stuck with trying to find someone else to finish the work, I asked that he complete the job but to please tell his guys about my concerns and try to do better on the remainder of the installation.

    At the end of the next day, they were finished with the wood flooring but unfortunately, there were more of the same problems and some additional problems of loose boards and large gaps in between boards.  I called the owner again and told him I was unsatisfied with the work and asked for at least some discount in price; he responded that he would "see me in court" and hung up.  One week later, I paid them the full amount to avoid the hassle of going to court over the holidays.

    Since then, we put a rug over the mismatched boards, caulked the large gaps on the door trim and tightened and nailed the loose boards in place.  The vinyl flooring in the utility room that initially looked good, is now coming unglued and is bubbling up after only 10 months. 

    The folks at Floors & More are apparently completely incompetent for the line of work they are in and their handling of customer complaints is unprofessional at best.  I strongly recommend not letting these guys anywhere near your home.

    Arrived within 10 minutes of promised time and began to work promptly.  Removed old carpet, swept floor, applied leveler, waited for it to dry, applied adhesive, waited for it to set up, applied tile.  Worked straight through.  Tolerant of our nosy cat while working.  The installer, Chip, was amiable and interactive as well as informative.  Finished the job in 6 hours, including a trip to Lowes for more leveler.  I am glad I went to a specialty flooring store rather than a big box retailer with contract installers.
