  • Dr. Brantley's treatment of the rash appears to have been spot-on, and the intestinal pain is better (although we are having some other issues with my daughter's digestive tract and have been referred to a specialist).
    My older daughter has been seeing Dr. Brantley since a few hours after she was born (my daughter, not Dr. Brantley :-D). It was actually Dr. Brantley who ordered the CT scan that showed that my daughter had had a hypoxic brain injury. My daughter has severe cerebral palsy and is non-verbal so it can be a real challenge to figure out what's going on with her. I feel that Dr. Brantley has always been on her and our side, has put time and effort into researching some of my daughter's issues, and has always made herself available to us (even once giving us a prescription for a sinus infection on a Sunday). We now take our younger daughter to her as well.
    Our relationship with Dr. Brantley (and I feel that we have very good relationships with the other doctors and the nurse practitioners in the practice, as well) far outweighs the cons of this practice, but there are a few: the biggest is the amount of time you will spend waiting for the doctor when you get there. I think they've been trying to address this because the last couple of times it hasn't been nearly so bad; it's enough of an acknowledged problem that there's a sign in the waiting room saying something to the effect of "You may experience delays in waiting for the doctor as the doctor gives all the time needed to each patient. Just remember that you will receive the same consideration when it's your turn." And this is very true. It's a cumulative problem, so your best bet is to get there first thing in the morning or right after lunch. Another gripe I have is the amount of time it's taking to get a referral - we've been waiting a week now for their referral person to get an appointment with a dermatologist (for an issue unrelated to the chest rash) - I'm planning to call on Monday and say never mind, I'll take care of it myself. And a minor gripe is that they seem to have recently instituted a policy that you can't get an afternoon appointment unless you call in the afternoon, which means making sure you call after 2:00. This is a real pain if your kid has an issue that's bad enough that you want to have them seen that day and are willing to pick them up early from school, but not so bad that you want to keep them out of school the whole day. We have to give our daughter's school a heads-up that we may be picking her up early but we have no idea when and won't know until after 2:00! (She's in middle school, which runs until 4:00.) But all that aside, I can't imagine going anyplace else.

  • I think the office is excellent. He does a little bit more for the vaccination schedule. He is willing to work with you and understands that you are the parent of your child. He is there to offer a lot of medical suggestions and I appreciate it.

  • The entire staff (at least the ones that we have interacted with, which has been quite a few) are all caring and involved in the well being of the our child. Dr. Boersma is our primary pediatrician and we cannot say enough about her. She takes her time to answer everyone of our questions and concerns. We have seen a few other doctors at the practice and all of them are great as well. Occasionally we have to wait to be seen, however this is because each doctor takes their time to answer all of your questions and does not every try and rush you along. Definitely would recommend this practice to any parent.
