    I love them. They gave us a competitive bid for installation of excellent equipment. They were professional, considerate, kind, knowledgeable, and so easy to work with. I am contrasting this with a terrible experience with a different provider we ALMOST chose, but thankfully, did not. We are still on the courtesy maintenance plan, and they are always timely with their reminder calls and helpful during the visits. This was a wonderful experience and the right investment for us. They are truly in the customer service business.

Once the work was agreed upon they began work the next week (incredibly prompt considering the demand of the season). All work was completed as advertised in less than two days.     Called Automatic Climate Heating and Air Conditioning this morning at 0759. Larry called me back by 0805. Spoke with Larry this morning about my A/C and Electrical issues. I described the problem concerning my electrical issues and how it was somehow interconnected with the A/C., and that both AC units were not working. Larry said that he would send a Tech by today to diagnose the issue some time between 12:00 and 2pm. The tech (James) called and said he was on another job and should be there by 3pm. James arrived at 2:45. came to the door and had a fit about my dog running out to greet him. James informed me that my sdog needed to be secured in another room because other techs have been bitten in the past. I secure my dog, and opened the front door again to greet James where he handed me his business card. I identified the issues to James he indicated that Automatic Climate Heating and Air Conditioning does not do electrical work. This is in contrary to the description of services provided on Angies list and Automatic Climate Heating and Air Conditionings website. PI$$ POOR!! James informed me that the charge was $89a per unit to diagnose. Larry did not divulge this information which I expressed as troubling to James. I continued to show James the issues and he indicated that he had never seen anything like this before. James departed not charging me the $89 per unit; however I am as hot as I was at 8am as I am now at 3pm. I was provided no relief other than not having to pay for a service that is clearly identified that they offer. Had I had to pay I would have been hot under the collar as well. I would never use this company even if they were the last company on this earth, and I lost both of my hands, had no friends to assist, and temperatures reached 150 degrees in doors.

    The tech showed up and showed me what the problem was. He even made the comment that this would be his easiest call all day. I was never given an estimate or told about the $90 charge just for someone to come out. They could've at least told me that when I made the appointment. After he finished about 15 minutes later, he said he would get my bill. Ten minutes later he comes back with a bill for $255.40! It was a $90 service charge, $105 for 'miscellaneous', and $60 for the washer. I gave him my credit card because I figured I had to pay at this point. He had me sign a line on his tablet and never explained what I was signing for, nor did it say on the tablet either. I thought I was signing for the credit card. Then I had to sign again. When I got the emailed receipt, I saw that the first time I signed it was actually the invoice, where I was agreeing to have the services performed and to pay the amount quoted. If I saw this invoice before he did any work, I would've told him not to continue. When I finally was able to speak to a manager (I had to call twice and then get a return call) he said that the tech overcharged me for a part and was willing to refund me $50. He agreed that I should've been given an estimate. Well, after going back and forth for a bit, we agreed he would refund me about $130. He said they didn't run the credits cards until the evening and it would be fixed then. It wasn't. The card was charged and I had to call again. I was told they would mail a refund check. Finally, almost a week later, this was resolved. This business says they offer a 100 percent satisfaction guarantee but those are just words on the page. I feel like the tech purposely didn't show me the invoice ahead of time and took me for a fool. And I am definitely not satisfied.

    It didn't. They never called/emailed/contacted me about an appointment. I sent them an email telling them it seemed to me they weren't interested in my business. I never received a reply, even to THAT! At this point, I'm going to unsubscribe to Angie's List. After all the contractors I've contacted only ONE has been decent. Then after they did a repair, they wanted to charge me an exorbitant price for another project I wanted done. I'd love to have my money back, but I guess it's a lost cause.

    Howell's always calls to schedule the appointment. If something does go wrong they come out for free and they offer a discount on parts. If there's an emergency they are able to get out quickly. The service technicians are very friendly and make sure to keep the area they'e working in clean. They also take their time to educate you on any issues and the importance of maintaining your system.

    I bought a programmable thermostat from Speeks on the advice of my contractor, Jim Poe. Long story short: programming this thing has been a nightmare. I had Speeks' men out three times and it wasn't until the third time we think he got it correct. He told my contractor that the Aprillaire programmable thermostat was the only one that would work with my heating unit. Now, with the Daylight Savings Time change, I'm back to square one. I had Speeks quote me two months ago for a humidifier but guess what?His salesman was a joke and this continued problem with my thermostat sealed the deal. Another Richmond, Virginia HVAC contractor will do the work. And, guess what? The new HVAC contractor told me that any programmable thermostat would work with my HVAC system. Speaks lied. The new HVAC contractor is going to give me a new one for free. So long, Speeks!
