    Mr Handyman of Richmond
I put in two requests-for-quote on Tuesday 15 January. Within hours, Mr. Handyman of Richmond responded to my requests--and to this date the other two have not. The description by the telephone receptionist impressed me from the beginning: one company, not a contractor with subcontractors, recognizable to any homeowner and recognized in the industry. I accepted the quote, because frankly I was in a hurry to get the job done. The technician did the first job within hours. This included driving out to buy new doorknobs and deadbolts, plus a key-lockable and re-key-able front-door latch and deadbolt set. At the end of the job I had doorknobs that would stay on without coming off in my hand (as the originals did--twice), and four doors all on the same key. I also had a new deadbolt on the garage door and a front door that I could double lock. While he was here I asked him to see to a seam that had opened in some drywall, and remounting a toilet paper dispenser in a bathroom. The second job he finished in about five minutes; the first he agreed to come back for. On the second day he called his office to have them call me--this because I was too far away to hear him knock. So when I let him in, I suggested now would be a good time to install a wireless door chime and ringer set, and to repair a front-porch fixture I had never been able to unscrew. Note: I suggested these extra jobs; he did not push them on me. Except for my having to make two trips to a nearby hardware store to buy some batteries, he did all the work in record time. And because one of these jobs required letting some drywall mud dry before sanding, he was able to complete all these jobs at very little extra charge--because his company charges by the man-hour and materials, whatever the job happens to be. By using his time effectively and efficiently, I saved. The results are everything I could ask for, and getting all these jobs done is a special boon, particularly since I'm planning a long road trip. If I run across any other little thing that needs doing, I'll definitely call Mr. Handyman of Richmond first. I would recommend them without reservation to anyone having a little project.

    Marathon Resource Management Group
Marathon was awarded installation of our commercial electrical project for all of our retail locations on the east coat. The project managers had it coordinated, organized and facilitated it like no other company that we have had in the past. We would recommend them for future projects.

Automatic Climate Heating & Air Conditioning
Called Automatic Climate Heating and Air Conditioning this morning at 0759. Larry called me back by 0805. Spoke with Larry this morning about my A/C and Electrical issues. I described the problem concerning my electrical issues and how it was somehow interconnected with the A/C., and that both AC units were not working. Larry said that he would send a Tech by today to diagnose the issue some time between 12:00 and 2pm. The tech (James) called and said he was on another job and should be there by 3pm. James arrived at 2:45. came to the door and had a fit about my dog running out to greet him. James informed me that my sdog needed to be secured in another room because other techs have been bitten in the past. I secure my dog, and opened the front door again to greet James where he handed me his business card. I identified the issues to James he indicated that Automatic Climate Heating and Air Conditioning does not do electrical work. This is in contrary to the description of services provided on Angies list and Automatic Climate Heating and Air Conditionings website. PI$$ POOR!! James informed me that the charge was $89a per unit to diagnose. Larry did not divulge this information which I expressed as troubling to James. I continued to show James the issues and he indicated that he had never seen anything like this before. James departed not charging me the $89 per unit; however I am as hot as I was at 8am as I am now at 3pm. I was provided no relief other than not having to pay for a service that is clearly identified that they offer. Had I had to pay I would have been hot under the collar as well. I would never use this company even if they were the last company on this earth, and I lost both of my hands, had no friends to assist, and temperatures reached 150 degrees in doors.

    Reel Time, LLC
Randy is a hands-on owner who estimates every job himself - generally within 24 hours of being contacted (even on weekends). His quotes are usually accurate. Employees seem competent and behave professionally. I don't think that the rates are the lowest but that is offset somewhat by the fact that the work is done well, done quickly, and on schedule. The work is also "backed up" if follow up is needed or if something isn't quite right. I anticipate continuing to use this company.

    FHG Electric LLC
David and his team are fantastic! We are new to the area and I decided to try FHG because of their rating on Angie's list. Also, 2 other well-known electrical contractors didn't bother to show up for an estimate on two different occasions and the other didn't call me back for two weeks. FHG was 100% what you want in a contractor - they were professional, punctual, explained everything clearly, personable, and quick workers. It is clear they are very conscientious to do quality work, even on a small project like ours. My husband was here during the work and he was very impressed with the way they are so neat and clean - everything was finished off and every detail very thoughtful (everything secured extra or covered very neatly). **See the pictures, but note the string/hook and wood pile are all my messes. They actually cleaned my garage area better than they found it!** I was impressed by their honesty and clear communication -- in the original quote David was very straightforward about the rate per hour, and thought it would take 3-4 hours. He quoted based on 3-4 hours worth of work, but said if it was less time, he would adjust it. True to his word, it took them 2-3 hours and he adjusted down the price. Most contractor's just quote you and make the extra where they can. I really appreciate David's straight forward approach from the beginning and following through without being asked. We will be calling him first for all things electrical. I am so glad we gave FHG a try and now I will never have to look for another electrician -- WIN!!!!

    TRIBBLE ELECTRIC INC
My experience is probably a fluke, but they took a week and a half to call me back to set up a time to come by for a quote. Then, they never showed. They called me back to try to reschedule, but I declined because I can't trust work from someone who fails multiple times to communicate and/or show up when they say the will. I don't know about their work, but I never would have felt right using them because of this. I suspect they didn't want to do a small job - which is fine --- but just telling me that from the start would have been better customer service.

    MALLORY ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS, LLC
They did a phenomenal job installing the generator outlet and at a price that was less than half the cost of every other quote I received, which even included the 50 amp generator cord (this is a very expensive item that no other electrician was providing in their price, despite even being higher). They were fast, professional, and the install was perfect; the outlet looks like it was part of the house when it was built. He even spent the time needed to simulate a power outage, tested everything out to make sure it operated correctly, and walked me through how to hook up the generator. I was also shown how to operate the generator itself, which I didn't even buy from them, and he gave some really helpful tips on overall maintenance. I would highly recommend this company to anyone needing electrical work in the Richmond area, and I'll definitely continue using them.

Mr. Boyce was on time and ahead of schedule throughout. He was very careful about the condition of my home, and frankly left it better and cleaner than he found it. Mr. Boyce was also simply a delight to have in my home. He and his crew are professional and personable. I felt safe, informed and confident throughout their visit. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

    TRIBBLE ELECTRIC INC
Excellent experience. I needed four items completed before I went out of town. Tribble Electric was the 3rd contractor contacted and they were the first to return my call. I explained the work items and received a phone estimate of approximately $200 with a promise to complete the work by the end of the week. I agreed and was put in their scheduling queue. One hour later, I was called by Tribble to ask if a crew could come by in one hour (they had finished another job early). I agreed and a crew showed up one hour later. I explained the tasks and they got right to work. Greg removed the outlet and Ben started digging the hole to bury it. Greg installed the exterior light, adjusted the porch light sensor, and checked the interior dimmer switch installation (he removed his shoes upon entering the house, even though I said it wasn't necessary). Once Greg finished, we went outside and Ben had fixed the conduit and installed the in-ground box. Because they multi-tasked, the bill was less than estimated. I will recommend Tribble Electric to family and friends without hesitation.
