    KAM Construction
I highly recommend Kam Construction. Their work is very professional, well managed and well priced. It's refreshing to get reliable service from a remodeling/construction company. These guys were in my home to provide an estimate and timeline and kept their word. Their pricing was not the cheapest but not the most expensive either and I felt like I got a great deal. Don't hesitate to contact these guys if you need home remodeling service!

Excellent. The project coordination went smoothly and the 2 work crews were superb. They arrived on time each day, worked beautifully through demanding weather conditions, and thoroughly cleaned up after. it was an outstanding professional job in every respect.

    Log Building Maintenance and Restoration
We met LBMR folks at a log home show in Pittsburgh, PA, and arranged for a visit and estimate. LBMR team lead, Ethan, came to our log cabin in Berkeley Springs WV (they travel large distances due to type of work) and tried to determine the type of existing finish, but wasn?t sure. Recommended either trying high pressure wash to remove old dark failing stain or use glass bead blasting. We chose blasting to ensure removal and starting with fresh wood. We were also getting roofing redone and he recommended LBMR act first to avoid risk of blasting new aluminum trim.

Office staff (Mitzi) were great to deal with and very helpful in arranging work date, stain color, etc. Workmen (Ethan team lead, and Matt) were very knowledgeable, friendly, courteous, and hard working. It took 8 days (including two weather rain out days). They kept us involved beginning to end on decisions, preferences, etc. They re-cycled the blasting media collected on tarps they put down after the media was seived. Did a good clean up job. Asked us to look for any ?punch list? items/requests and completed all. We?re very pleased with the much more natural wood tone and finish appearance. They recommended cleaning with hose or pressure wash twice a year (Spring/Fall) and a possible addtional top coat in 3-5 years depending on sun exposure, appearance, and water resistance.

    Jenkins Restorations
Our experience with Jenkins Restorations was horrible.  Jenkins Restorations was the insurance-recommended contractor to fix our kitchen after our dishwasher leaked for a few days without our knowledge.  Things started off well with the project manager showing up on time and providing an automatically accepted insurance company estimate, but quickly went downhill from there.  It started with inadequately controlling dust during the cabinet removal and floor installation.  We specifically stated we wanted the dust controlled and were assured it would be.  That was a joke because we ended up spending days cleaning the entire house due to the workers undoing the plastic sheets segregating the work area from the rest of the house and opening windows to get airflow.
For the floor we decided to upgrade the floor from linoleum to tile and purchased the tiles ourselves.  We asked Jenkins to purchase and install Duroc for the sub-floor to make it more stable for the tiles, which they did.  Unfortunately, when they installed the Duroc they covered a heating/airconditioning vent in the floor.  They knew they made a mistake but didn't tell us hoping we wouldn't notice and installed the tiles the next day anyway.  The tile installation was atrocious; the tile lines were not straight, the spacing between the tiles was not even, and the individual tiles were not level (i.e., uniform height).  To their credit, Jenkins bought new tiles and completely re-did the floor to an acceptable level, but this kind of substandard workmanship should never have occurred.
For the new cabinets, Jenkins convinced us that Wolf cabinets were an upgrade from what the builder originally provided that would fit within the estimate budget and would be available within two weeks versus four to five weeks for most other cabinet makers.  The cabinets were available within two weeks, but looked like they were assembled from components rejected by quality control.  A door was off-color; there were numerous cracks and dents in doors and drawer faces; in two places there were gashes in the front, bottom frame of the upper cabinets; the pantry was missing all the shelves; the lazy susan was improperly installed; and two cabinets had six inch cracks in the door frames (which Jenkins tried to hide with poorly applied caulking).  Additionally, the installation workmanship was extremely poor quality.  We wanted to preserve our existing backsplash, but Jenkins left a large gap between the upper cabinets and the backsplash which they filled with caulk that looked terrible.  They re-used a filler piece from our old cabinets next to the dishwasher that did not match the color or style of the new cabinets.  They attached the island with only two screws through the tile into the subfloor so the island was not very secure.  The under-cabinet microwave was very poorly installed with the mounting screws at a gross angle rather than straight; so much so that it was impossible to get the microwave flush with the bottom of the cabinet and left an approximately two inch gap.  The Jenkins solution was going to be a filler piece rather than mounting the microwave correctly.
Despite all the cabinet problems, Jenkins argued with us about replacing components and cabinets; particularly the cabinets with the six inch cracks in the door frames.  We would agree to a list verbally and then the written punch list would omit items.
When it came to correcting the cabinet and workmanship errors, the Jenkins project manager and branch supervisor were very dismissive toward my wife and would not negotiate directly with her or take her inputs seriously.  They claimed they had to work with me because the insurance policy was in my name which was not true.  In the end, we fired Jenkins Restorations and took a cash settlement from the insurance company that we used to hire a a vastly superior contractor through Angie's List.

Castleman Carpentry, bar none, offers top-quality workmanship and delivered every single line item as discussed and agreed upon. From the design stage through the last drop of paint they were professional, courteous, punctual, and above all, performed high quality work.
    • For our unfinished basement, here's what we received for our money:
    •  - Design (which was excellent)
    •  - Framing
    •  - Electrical (to include phone and multiple coax drops)
    •  - Plumbing
    •  - HVAC
    •  - Drywall (hang/finish/paint and trim work)
    •  - Can lights with multiple zones/dimmers
    •  - Bathroom
    •       Shower w/ full tile (floor to ceiling) and recessed shelf.
    •       Tile floor
    •       Vanity
    •       Toilet
    •  - Full laundry room with countertop, cupboards, and pocket door
    •  - Den w/ pocket door
    •  - Laminate flooring / carpeting
    •  - New exterior door
    •  - New interior doors
    •  - Two new casement windows
    •  - Railings for interior stairway
    •  - Oak treads for stairway, custom stained to match laminate flooring
As for the cost, one would initially think the price was high for a basement. However, you get what you pay for and the quality of workmanship (and the items mentioned in the first paragraph) made that money very well-spent. There were no hidden fees, costs, etc. The owners were very transparent from beginning to end with everything. No surprises whatsoever.
Castleman's commitment to the job ranked very high with us. They only work on one job at a time so they were onsite everyday for the duration of the project. They allocated 4-6 weeks for completion and finished in 4 1/2 weeks.
They cleaned up all debris and consolidated all of their equipment to one corner of the basement each and everyday.
We were stunned when, at the end of the project, there were only two items for the punch list (both very minor in our minds):
     - Threshold for exterior door needed adjustment. The owner even took the time to show me how to perform the adjustment should weather cause it to stray, which is not uncommon; and
    •  -  Caulking along the counter top in the laundry room.

We highly recommend Castleman Carpentry ...

Terrible. Finished more than a month late.   Never new when they would show up. Left a punch list they never addressed.   Sold low quality materials at high quality prices.   Abandoned the job unfinished with loose floor tiles, grout missing, broken cabinets.

It couldn't have gone any better. All the work was done in a timely manner and we were fortunate that the carpeting and flooring weren't on backorder. Much of the work was done by Tri-County while some was done by their subcontractors. We moved back into our home almost a month sooner than originally expected. When we did move back in, we found three very minor things that needed to be fixed. They came the next day and corrected them.

    Noble Roofing
We discovered on Sunday morning that one of our attic ridge vents had been blown almost completely off during a severe thunderstorm on the previous Friday evening. Our concern was that water would seep into the attic if it rained before we could have the ridge vent replaced.  Noble did the original new construction roofing on our home and our builder representative suggested we call them first thing Monday morning, even though our home is no longer under warranty with this company.  I was pleasantly surprised and very relieved that Noble was able to make the repair same day and left us an invoice for payment since we were not at home.  Per the notes on the invoice left by their representative, all other ridge vents were inspected and reinforced as needed.  Great service!!

    Levenduski Construction

I first met with Bill and Dan Levenduski in April of this year. At that time we reviewed the scop of work as well as the time they expected the project to take. They provided me a detailed proposal for the work in question. I accepted the proporal and work began in early May. I have since visited the house three times to check on their progress as well as the quality of their work. They are currently right on schedule and the quality of their work is exceptional. They have even gone above the norm by making a few reparis to areas that were not part of the scope but that were required to make the job right. There have not been any overruns on the project and they expect to complete the entire project this week. This will be within the timeframe that they provided. I have also had constant contact with my mother who is very impressed wiht teh professinalism as well as the fact that each day they clean up their work so not to inconvience her.
I have worked wiht a number of contractors through the years and having a project of this size being done this far away was something that i was concerned about. My experience with Levenduski Construction has been excellent, they haev kept me informed through emails and text messages. They have met their dates hit their budget and the quality of their work is exceptional. I will use them again shold i have any other remodling in their area and i will highly recommend them to anyone whw may be looking for a quality contractor who meets their obligations.

    Roofing & More Inc
Side Fascia was ripped off due to high wind a few weeks back. I called a couple of contractors. Nathan from this company came the day after I called to give me an estimate. He gave me the option of replacing the entire strip on that side (instead of just fixing the ripped part). The reasoning was that there was another section of the Faschia that could have come off due to some nails that had been used to fix it some other time. That made sense. So did the price since it was just a few $$ more than another contractor (who would have just fixed the ripped part). So I decided to go with 'entire replacement'

Repair was scheduled 2 weeks later and was performed at that time. This is the second time I have used this company and I liked their professionalism. invoices, checklists etc were all emailed to me in PDF format which I liked. No paper.
