    Rent-A-Pro Handyman Services LLC
    The bedroom door frame was pounded on (why is beyond us and not necessary) before the bedroom door was even taken off and trimmed by the handyman. As a result of the pounding done caused a portion of the trim to separate from the door frame. No mention of the damage done was brought to our attention by the handyman/employee. I discovered the damage the next morning. Also, it is my opinion that both the bedroom door and the folding door should have been sanded a little to make for a smoother finish instead of rough edges. The gate was fixed as well as a couple of the support posts to support and secure the gate. Wasn���t pleased with the sloppy caulking on the gate brackets. I learned it is best to get a firmative estimate whether it is a small or large job to be done. I learned not in my best interest to hire a company where you pay by the hour because that includes paying for the time the handyman talks to the owner, paying for the time it takes the handyman to go to Home Depot to buy supplies for the job(s) to be done and then some supplies are bought that are not necessary or needed. In other words look at supplies bought on your bill bought as whether they were used or needed as I discovered two items and later discovered (1) clean up bags were bought for $17.92 when only two bags were used and left on the driveway.

    Bottom line - Amazing - I'm so glad I went with WoW - Don't waste your time shopping around. Let's be honest - replacing 36 windows and a patio door isn't going to be fun. Its expensive and a huge pain. The worst part is probably shopping around and meeting with one sales guy after another who spends a ton of time measuring and talking to you about windows until your eyes roll back into your head. Windows on Washington made this process easy - from sales, to support to install. It was as easy as it gets. Sales - no pressure. Honest assessment - no one trying to rip you off or upsell you. Brandon from WoW actually downsold me and told me what I needed and what I didn't need. Talk about earning trust. What's more we completed the visit in 45 minutes - compare that to the large box store that spent 3 hours in my house while he clicked through a million options on his tablet and tried to upsell me again and again. Not to mention WoW had solutions for me - not problems. "Can you do this? Yes, we can do that." That's what I like to hear. Most importantly - it was less expensive and higher quality than that big box store. Ordering/Support - very communicative, very responsive and kept me updated throughout the process. Scheduling the install was easy. Thanks again for making this process painless. Installation - this is the part everyone dreads - almost as much as the sales call. I was told the installers would arrive between 8.30-9.30am. They arrived at 8.31 am and literally attacked my house laying down floor coverings and removing windows and getting the job done. At the end of Day 1 all the windows and the patio door were installed and the house was buttoned up. Day 2 was the final capping and trim work. These guys were amazing. I inspected everything and the work was impeccable. Would I use them again? In a heartbeat.

    We purchased a Provia front door, transom, and sidelights from them in 2016. Overall, we've been very satisfied with the Provia door, the transom, and sidelights. They are quality products with solid performance and great looks. However, the installation was a terrible process, as was a follow up service call this past month, 2019. During installation in 2016, the crew arrived but didn't have a lead I could communicate with very well. They started with removal of the existing door/transom/sidelights and that went well. But they had obvious issues with trying to install the replacement set, there seemed to be a problem with how tightly it fit the opening. They started racking the door/sidelights at the corners, using pry bars to wedge the unit into place, ended up pulling it out and trying again twice, then cutting away some of the house framing and trying again. Fearing for the glass and structure, I finally told them to stop work and called the owner and told him he or a foreman needed to get out here. Both showed up within an hour. After considerable effort, the group finally got the door installed. Then they found they didn't have enough of the right PVC wrapping to finish the exterior so it matched what was installed above the door/transom. After a lot of discussion and no real alternative, I agreed to have the textured wrapping used. The job was finally finished, taking hours longer than it should have. We've been happy with it since then, until... Earlier this year, 2019, a visitor pointed out the PVC wrapping had split at the bottom of the exterior door jamb. We couldn't see how it was actually supposed to be connected or fixed, so we contacted the company. We were told someone would stop by to evaluate/fix it and we asked to be notified when. The split continued to grow up along the seam while we waited for a response. After a couple of weeks, we came home and found the owners business card in the door, but no indication of the problem having been fixed. We called and were told they weren't sure what the problem was, the wrapping couldn't be put back in place and someone else would come out to work on it. We asked for an appointment so we could be there and see what the problem was: swollen wood, water damage, etc., and were told they didn't do appointments. We didn't hear anything for a few more weeks, so we called Provia to ask how we got warranty work done. Provia apparently called the company who finally called us and asked what the problem was. I told the lady it had now been two months, their customer service was terrible, we had to call them to get any information about the repair, and I wanted an appointment; she said they didn't do that sort of thing. I told her the owner needed to call me directly. He called and basically said the same thing, asked us not to call Provia, said the wrapping wasn't covered by Provia's warranty, they would stop by and fix it if they could, and went on about how long they'd been business. I told him with their customer "service" it was a marvel, he had told us the entire installation was covered by the vaunted Provia warranty, and an appointment with me there was the only way it was going to be done. He finally relented and agreed their repairman would call and set a time to come out. Another week+ goes by and at 7am one morning I get a phone call from the guy that's supposed to fix the wrapping. He again asks if we really need to be there; I relate we have video doorbell that has to be disconnected for the work to be done (it's on the affected wrapping) and we want to see what the problem is. He starts to argue with me about where my doorbell is located on the framing. He finally relents I probably know where my doorbell is located and sets a time. A man (Ernest) shows up, let's me know he's not the guy that called, and proceeds to go to work. I have to say Ernest was very knowledgeable, careful, courteous, and did things right. He removed the wrapping and we found a fungus, like a mushroom, had started growing inside the wrapping at the base, was slowly growing up between the wood door framing and wrapping, breaking the seam and continuing to grow. It had started to eat the wood post, just starting to make it spongy. As the wrapping was sealed with no signs of water drips/leakage, we don't know how it got there. He removed the wrapping, removed/replaced the affected wood, treated the area with a bleach solution, and re-wrapped the post with new material, changing wrapping direction to mirror the other side of the door as it should have been to start with. Hopefully, it doesn't re-occur. We're appreciative of Ernest and his work, we'd give him an A rating on his own. However the company's policies on setting appointments for needed warranty work, misrepresentation of what's actually warranted during their sales call, the less than stellar customer information flow, and inability to meet a reasonable customer request for an appointment and information earns Home Exterior's a significantly lower rating.

    Consumer Construction Inc
    Pros: I had Consumer Construction do an entire outside renovation to my home. We obtained quotes from CC as well as other companies like Window World, Lowes, and Home Depot. Though CC as not the cheapest option, coming in about 10% more expensive than their competition, they were the best option for our project. The reasons is CC was able to project manage all of the work and get it done quickly with a high attention to detail. We purchased a foreclosed home in Ashburn that was never maintained well by the previous tenants. As such we had to replace all the doors, windows, gutters, siding, house wrap, and molding around the property. On top of that we had to tear out the old deck as it had become recently infested with termites and carpenter bees. We replaced the the wood deck with a large stone patio. For such a large project the lead time was long, about 3 months from payment in July to starting at the end of October. The entire install process took about a month with some days getting missed due to bad weather. The install team was amazing and CC's foreman did an excellent job in running down the punch list and keeping his staff on schedule. We also ran into a lot of issues during the build due to the lack of maintenance the property had. We had to replace the entire front bay window of our house. The team did an excellent job in getting the front torn down and rebuilt in one day. They then spent an additional couple of days doing the finishing work and trim work. Another major issue was due to the incorrect installation of the deck. Water had gotten between the beams that connected to the house, which caused a lot of rot at the base of the house. The CC team was able to address all of these concerns which not only improved the longevity of the home, but reduced the musty smell in the home and the number of insects we've seen inside. Speaking to this work after 2 months (Writing this review at the end of January 2019), we are incredibly happy we went with CC. The work has stayed solid through high wind storms and the house is noticably warmer. Our energy bill cut in half from about $400 a month to just around $200 a month. My only regret is that I did not have them do the work on my kitchen. That said I will be contacting CC later for our master bathroom project we intend to tackle this year. If you can work directly with James, he's a pleasure to work with and delivered a great product. He can do the sales ordering as well as act as foreman for your project. Request him specifically. Cons: The sales rep (Greg) should provide more accurate timelines. His original estimate for starting the work was 4 weeks from payment. It took 3 months to get all the materials needed for our job. I was ok with that timeline, but it wasn't clearly communicated to us. We were getting very concerned since CC requires a 50% upfront payment before committing to work. After 2 months we were getting extremely concerned that our money was gone. We had to threaten to request a refund before we were finally escalated to James who took over the project and knocked it out of the park. Additionally make sure that the sales rep orders everything correctly. Greg talked us into getting a French door over a sliding glass door for the basement. We agreed it would give us more room to bring large items into the house. When he ordered the door he purchased a "double door" which looked correct on the order form. When we got it, only one side of the door would open. He then went on to insult our intelligence saying "Well a French door isn't exactly what you think, this could still be considered a french door". Consumer Construction was not willing to work with us on this error stating they would not eat the cost of the door (Approximately $3000). They gave us $1000 discount on the door and we moved on, otherwise they didn't want to continue working until the issue was resolved. The door is fine, and it fits our style, but it wasn't what we ordered and we aren't very happy they made us eat the cost of a door we didn't want.

    Everything went smoothly, from giving an quote, ordering, and installing. The quote was very reasonable, as I have obtained three other quotes for the same doors. The other sales rep just listened to what we want and gave us the quote. Mr. Katnich actually suggested ways to save some money without affecting the quality and performance of the doors. For an example, we asked to paint the doors the same color outside as before. Mr. Katnich looked at our windows which are white outside and suggested to save a few hundred dollars each door by leaving it white. After installation, the doors actually look brighter and nicer with the white color. None of the other sales rep suggested it. The work was performed efficiently, and professionally. Everything was cleaned up perfectly. There was a slight defect with the Provia. Mr. Katnich immediately returned my call on a Sunday and communicated with Provia the next day. Provia responded satisfactorily to fix the problem. So far, we are 100% satisfied with this work.

    Great company to work with! I took quotes from at least 5 contractors before I settled with Yong and Dream design. Rest of them were wither over priced or under skilled for the basement finish work I was looking for. Yong and his team were not just doing the work but also gave recommendations along the way in picking colors, faucets, doors etc. Most importantly, they were flexible to accommodate any changes requested while the work was getting done which I think is huge for home owners who are really not into construction and fully visualize the outcomes. I would recommend them to everyone!
