    NOVA Vision Center
Major Bonus- there is parking! And it is FREE! The  staff was very friendly. It located on Columbia Pike, right off of Hwy 7. So great location if you are in Arlington, Falls Church or Annandale.

    The Eye Center
It went very well. We were able to get a convenient appointment at the very end of the day (5:00). All the staff were friendly and welcoming. Dr. Taji was very nice and made my daughter feel comfortable (I think 10 is about as young as they accept patients). Her diagnosis (of a sort of eye strain common in young bookworms) seemed to be absolutely accurate. Within a couple of days my daughter had her new glasses and hasn't had a problem since.

Called the Falls Church office and could not get an appointment for 4 weeks. They told me to contact the Fairfax office. I did that and had an appointment the next week. During the appointment I was ask what insurance I have. I gave them my Federal Government eye insurance info. I took my daughter out of school for a 0930 appointment. Arrived and was and quot;bait and switchedand quot;. The receptionist total me that my insurance from the largest employer in the region (the Federal Government) would be valid here unless its a medical emergency. I was then told that the eye exam would cost $88. When I ask why I was not this upon making the appointment and giving them my insurance info during that time. She could offer me no explanation. I have seen this happen once before with an Orthodontist in Arlington.

    Kern, Dr. Melissa D.
Visited Dr. Kern to check my 9 month old son's eyes. He appeared to be having focusing issues and our pediatrician suggested we visit a pediatric eye specialist.

We had a very short wait in a very clean and comfortable waiting room.

Dr. Kern is extremely friendly and put my mind at ease immediately. She seemed very confident and knowledgable. She did her exam quickly but thoroughly so as to not push my squirming baby past his patience limit. When she dilated his eyes, we had to wait for about 20-30 minutes for them to full dilate. She had a tv with children's videos as well as books set up to entertain kids while they waitedit was very helpful. She diagnosed my son with pseudo-strabismus and asked me to follow up in 6 months. She told me his eye muscles were functioning perfectly and even showed me how to tell if they are focusing properly, which I could quickly see for myself they were.

My son was two months premature so I was thrilled that Dr. Kern has a good grasp on what this meant for his developmental progress and seemed to understand common complications involved with babies born at his gestational age.

I highly recommend Dr. Kern for any eye issues, especially pediatric. She is great!
