Infertility treatment

I highly recommend Shady Grove Fertility's Annandale location. The entire staff is kind, patient and empathetic, and the small office environment makes it feel more personal. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Levens and our RN, Danielle Kelly. They were always responsive to our many, many phone calls and e-mails, and showed deep care and empathy during the ups and down of the fertility process. In addition, their professionalism and expertise were deeply comforting and made us confident that we were in the right hands and would ultimately have success. They made an often difficult and emotional process much easier to bear, and we are forever grateful to them.

They are good about getting me in and they are always there for me.

Attempts to get pregnant. Though unsuccessful - this is not my concern or complaint. I think the office - particularly the Gallows Road location - needs to work on being a little more patient friendly. HIPAA compliance should be enhanced. Several times I was in the back area awaiting my turn to be called into a room and I overheard staff making calls to patients, using their names and providing medical information over the phone. This doesn't assure confidentiality - even for the staff who had office space, yet left their doors open while they made phone calls.

The medical knowledge of these individuals is of course very good. I have no concern there. It's more about being sensitive to the (highly charged, highly sensitive) emotional needs of patients = being less impersonal and more personal with patients. And need to enhance HIPAA compliance.

IVF

Dr. Eric Levens was my MD and he is wonderful. I started with another fertility clinic in the area and I did not get the same attention nor competence. He is understanding and always available, he goes above and beyond what he is required to do as a physician. I always felt I was getting the right treatment and that someone clinical (a nurse or doctor) was there to answer my questions and support me. The office staff is mostly nice, there are a few here and there I could do without because they just don't seem to understand the emotional state of a woman going through infertility. Additionally, the woman who handles billing at this office could use a class or two on sensitivity towards women and how to get the job done with insurance. Most importantly- I got pregnant!

A few cycles of IUI infertility treatments were performed. Doctors are friendly and encouraging, but honest in what they can do. The lab staff are awesome as you must see them several times with each cycle for blood work. Consultations and classes on fertility injections were informative.

No success with treatments, but I recommend any office within the Shady Grove Fertility system.
