ASilaWe have used Sila several times for installing our boiler as well as regular maintenance and repairs. Not only did they get back to us quickly but they scheduled us right away, promptly identified the problem, and had it fixed within 48 hours. Marcus was highly professional and made us feel comfortable during these challenging times and got the job done quickly and effectively. We would recommend Sila for any work you need.- Mark J.

ASilaOne unit was fine. The heat pump unit needs some new parts as it is 11 years old and sitsc in the roof under the southern sun and is just getting worn down. So Rob from Sila recommended the parts that need replacing. Very good company that I have used for that to perform these twice yearly checkups. Highly recommended.- Perry T.

ASilaLucas did a great job. He was communicative, on time, and helpful in walking me through his assessment. He provided me info of offers and optional improvements, but wasn’t aggressive or pushy. Sila has once again provided great service.- Luke W.

ASilaSila's salespeople were very understanding and thoughtful of our needs and gave us plenty of options and advice on our purchase. The installation technicians were exceptional and took plenty of time to explain the features of our new units, how to properly maintain them, and how to correct any basic issues. We've also had a free inspection and seasonal check-up from them since (which comes free of charge for 5 years) and the service tech was also knowledgeable and helpful.- James W.

ASilaMarcus did an awesome job. He was incredibly thorough, worked quickly, and provided great explanations around everything that he was doing. Being new home owners, and never having used a boiler/radiator system, we had many questions, all of which he answered knowledgeably and explained thoroughly. I would absolutely have SILA come back again, and probably request that Marcus come back again if possible.- Christopher O.
-
ASilaBob was excellent and took time to explain my issues with my aging furnace. Very kind and professional.- Evonne B.

ASilaBob and (Sila in general) has been an invaluable help for our home. He is always punctual, quick, courteous, and amenable with our dog. He even helped contain the damage when our building suddenly underwent an unrelated plumbing flood. Today he arrived and fixed our HVAC effluent u-line free of charge after spotting a potential issue on his last visit. He inspires confidence that he will resolve the issue at hand, and if not, will coordinate a response so that someone will. For routine maintenance and emergency visits, we would not recommend any other service.- Brian L.
-
ASilaThe inspection visit went well. Roberto was very knowledgeable about whole-house humidifiers and provided useful information during the visit for consideration given that both our furnace and AC are aging. He replaced the pads on the humidifier. We are all set for the cold weather. We appreciate the time he took to explain things in a clear and understandable way.- Hugh G B.

DI realize that there are a lot of positive reviews posted for Snell Heating & Air Conditioning. And for the past several years, we probably would have said something similar. Over that period, we maintained a service membership relationship with Snell which provided some discounted rates for maintenance and parts. And for all of those prior years, our experiences have been completely fine. But this year, our experience changed dramatically and I decided it was important to share. Like most years, when October came around the weather started to cool off and we decided to schedule our annual furnace inspection and maintenance visit. Snell was able to send a technician on October 11th. After working on the furnace for 15-20 minutes, "Jay" came to find me and share the bad news. His readings clearly showed that the heat exchanger was cracked and the furnace was emitting dangerous carbon monoxide into the house! He was required by law to turn off the gas flow to the furnace and he recommended that we replace the furnace immediately. Snell sent a salesman (a.k.a. "comfort engineer"?) over that same afternoon to propose a complete rebuild of our HVAC system including all of the PVC pipe runs and ductwork for $7k+. I was initially scared enough to actually schedule the new furnace rebuild. But after thinking on the situation a little longer, I decided that something didn't feel right. If the furnace was emitting dangerous carbon monoxide, why didn't any of our 3 carbon monoxide sensors provide a warning? So I asked Snell to send the technician back and show me the crack in the heat exchanger. They charged me another $100 for the 2nd visit, but it turned out that the technician (Mike) couldn't actually find a crack in the heat exchanger. Instead, he identified some areas where it was showing stress or corrosion. He went on to point out that one of the gas pipe connections had a slow gas leak due to the constant expansion and contraction associated with a heating system cycling on and off. Mike repeated the assertion that the furnace was dangerous and needed to be replaced immediately. At this point, I decided that a second opinion was prudent. So I contacted another well regarded HVAC contractor in the Loudoun County area and they arrived a few days later. Their technician refuted every "dangerous" concern that Snell offered. Sure the heat exchanger was showing some age, but that was normal. There weren't any cracks and the furnace was still running near original efficiency (almost 95%). And he handled the leaking pipe connection in about 20 minutes by taking the pipes apart, cleaning them and reconnecting them with fresh pipe "dope" sealant. Instead of spending $7k+ on a new furnace, we spent ~$180 on a second opinion and some pipe dope. So my suggestion to you is to make sure you collect a second opinion before implementing Snell's suggestions.

AAside from installing a new Carrier gas furnace, they installed a state-of-the-art thermostat. The comfort specialist, Chris B., was very responsive and helpful in helping me decide what to buy, as well as providing help after installation. The two installers, Chris M. and Justin B. were very personable and very neat during removal and installation of the furnaces. Overall, very satisfied. Very commendable job.
