Driveway Pavers reviews in Annandale

    H&H Paving Asphalt Specialist, Inc.
H&H contracted to 1. Remove & Replace existing asphalt driveway 2.Widen it. Neither was done. Foreman announced out of the blue that the existing driveway presented an undesirable base and instead of removing and replacing, he was doing an Overlay. It was so unexpected, I felt bullied and had to agree to it, or theyd not do it at all. I never expected it to turn out into a hazard due to the added height. The widening , or new area, turned out to be the supporting curb on the sidenot a usable surface. Yet foreman Todd led me to believe that the line he traced a foot off along the edge of the existing driveway was to be the widened extra foot. The combination of the added thick layer of asphalt and the absence of additional usable surface created a steep 10 in drop from the edge to the adjacent ground. So steep that if you turned the wheels even slightly to back out of the driveway, you ended up with the left wheels down on the ground below , unable to drive back up; the only way out was to straddle the ground and the edge of the driveway, ending up with a scraped exhaust. This limitation forced us to park the cars over away from the dangerous edge and too close to each other. Hard to open a door, to load a wheel chair, to step out of a car without dropping into a ditch.. This was in December. I asked for a solution, and the owners son promised one after they came back from vacation. Two months later, when the owner finally came, he spent 30 minutes boasting about his company being a family business for decades, and of how great they were; yet, his disregard to my distress was appallingthe instrument has not been invented to measure his indifference. His only solution to the hazardous steep curb and the lack of widening was to drop a load of dirt on the front yard and for me to fill in the gap by shoveling it myself. There is a true professional for you. It took 6 months of complaints and entreaties, countless emails, for them to finally agree to add on a filler with gravel, in exchange for my keeping quiet about it. However, the filler was done on the cheap, without a holding bar and pavers to make it useable. It is not drivable, as the gravel spreads and a wheel leaves an imprint. I even offered to pay for the pavers that would have made the surface usable, yet they refused to do it right. In addition, H&H never credited me for the switch from remove and replace to the Overlay, a less costly and less time consuming job. This is the worst experience we have had with a contractor in 30 years . I hope this account is helpful to others seeking a paving contractor.

    FALLS CHURCH PAVING CO
I got 3 estimates. As usual, my husband chose the least expensive. I made the appointment with the woman who answers the phone. The estimator "Sami" did not show up even though I waited all day. He came on a later date and left an estimate with his cell number. He told me when I called that he never got the message, and to deal only with him. He called me "honey" which I found extremely rude. My husband called him and they met to go over the work which was scheduled. A deposit check was written. We moved the vehicles to make way for the work team and equipment. No show on the planned day, and no return calls from me or my husband. I was getting worried. Few days later, trucks, men, and equipment showed up. Work began early. Those men were amazing. Driveway is gorgeous. Initial planning: great Communication: awful Actual labor and materials: VERY GOOD

The final finished project looks great. We had dealy's in the construction of our home addition and we had to push the install of the driveway schedule a couple of time. Howard worked with our schedules (we gave him 2 weeks notice) with-out any additional charge and was very professional. Thank you..

They were professional, arrived on time, did a good job, and professional workmanship. The people who did the job knew what they were doing. They started and finished the job on time. They cleaned up and paid attention to detail.

Not as expected Updated, 8/17/17: The job was average when considering that they did charge me for removal of the timbers (paid $100 in cash) and later found that they stashed all the clippings.from the juniper under an evergreen tree in my backyard. Don't really consider that cleaning up properly. Finally, the president of this company promised me a deep discount on the cost of re-sealing my driveway. Never did get any discount in the mail and it's been about a year now. Bottom line is this company needs to be more honest in how they do their work and honor their promises afterwards. From me a "C" rating is generous.

Quality and price were fine and Hugh Ford was most helpful and punctual in scheduling the original work in early Sept. Very forthcoming in providing tips on maintaining driveway. Shortly after work, discovered hole in side of repaved driveway which I surmised was caused by some critter burrowing into asphalt. Left repeated messages since mid-October via email, phone and Angie's List messaging re repairing the hole with no response. This is consistent with recent reviews in October. Wondering if still in business.

It worked out fine, had a little trouble at first but they were willing to work with us, so it turned out great. We had a bit of trouble with them at first. They said they would do up to a thousand feet and we only have 600 feet of asphalt to do, they said they've send somebody out on the 20th but they didn't sent somebody out, we hung out waiting for somebody to come, no one came and then we had to pursue them, what we're trying to do is get them to fill in the small cracks that we had since the asphalt was such a small amount, we wanted them to fill out the cracks for free, instead of pouring more asphalt. The lady in the office was a real pisser, she was very unpleasant, and turns out after several times that they were supposed to come out and check the driveway, both times they did not come out, comes to find out they do it by satellite and then they said our driveway had never been sealed and we had big cracks and wanted us to pay for cracks. Our driveway has been sealed and our cracks were small, so we had to fight with them for a bit and they said they will send somebody out again nobody showed up again. My husband was not willing to deal with this lady again so he turned it over to me and so I fought with her for a little bit, she was quite pisser, so anyway I got her to say she would fill the cracks and she sent out her brother in law or somebody who actually owns the asphalt company. He came out, he was the most delightful man, so nice, sealed the cracks very well, laid down the asphalt filing was so gracious, did a fabulous job and said yes she's a real pisser. So I got the job done, but it was not an easy task. So it turned out great. The guy who actually did the work was fabulous.

Overall the driveways look good upon completion. The only reason I gave professionalism a B is because they left some of the asphalt and rocks in the yard which I had to pickup and they even threw some of the extra asphalt behind my bushes (in hopes I wouldn't see it?), and left a couple empty beverage bottles in the yard.

Everything went great despite the rain interference.  Nick was a pleasure to work with -- always professional and prompt   He also provided cost effective suggestions for the work we needed done.  I thought for sure that my entire driveway would need to be replaced!  Rain did interfere with completion of the project but Nick was in constant touch with me and returned as soon as the work could be effectively completed.  I couldn't be happier
