    Animal Dental Clinic
Absolutely terrible. My dog went in for a cleaning and exam as a result of a runny nose and a very tiny sore above his canine tooth. I was told by Dr. Hall my 16 yr old mini dachshund needed multiple teeth pulled and oral surgery and it should be done all at the same time because he had severe periodontal disease and he was in pain. I have come to believe this was a scare tactic. I question this since he had his teeth cleaned annually since he was 1 yr old. It was against my intuition and better judgment to do such extensive procedures on an elder dog with kidney disease but I placed my trust in Dr. Hall because of his credentials and that he volunteers to perform dental work at the zoo. Don't let that fool you. Dr. Hall's responses to my calls were either delayed or non-existent. I had to take my dog into the emergency clinic the very next morning where they had him on IV fluids because his kidneys were after dental work in the advanced stage. He was there for 2 1/2 days but did not eat or drink. They released him in hopes he would do so at home. He did not. He only managed to eat 3/4 of a small jar of baby food over a 9 day period. Dr. Hall was not responsive to me or to my regular veterinarian, who called and asked him to return her call since my dog had an open sore the size of a dime above a canine tooth which was not there prior. If it were, I would have seen it since I brushed his teeth daily. I finally got in to see Dr. Hall on Day 9 in the morning. This is 9 days of not eating anything but that baby food and drinking some handfuls of water. Dr. Hall came across as arrogant and uncaring. I took my dog home and gave him sugar water as Dr. Hall instructed and tried to get him to eat something, anything. He worsened over that 9th day at home so I again to him back to the emergency clinic. I was told that one of Teddy's lungs collapsed and his major organs were failing and he was suffering and he should be euthanized. It broke my heart that I believe this vet was in it for the money. There are other reviews here on Angie's list and on Yelp. Please read all of them. You will find several instances like mine where Dr. Hall is using scare tactics and pet owners emotions to pull several teeth. Please get a 2nd opinion. I trusted Dr. Hall. Please don't. Now my dog is gone and suffered for 9 days. I had him for 15 years and he was 16 when he left this earth. Dr. Hall charged me $4,000, then I spent another $4,000 for another 2 emergency visits and daily vet visits for a total of $8,000.

    Doggy Workout
Robert has been visiting our dog since she was a tiny puppy. Its now been more than four years of regular walks. We have always been very pleased. Robert is consistently very responsive to scheduling changes and etc. In four years he has never gotten a number wrong on a bill -- even when we have last-minute canceled, added, and rescheduled numerous times in a month. He was originally recommended by a friend who used him sitting and was very pleased that the dog was treated like part of the family when there. Several of our neighbors use Robert now -- some on our recommendation. In addition to sitting, walks, and belly-rubs, he runs a mid-day playgroup that is very popular in our neighborhood.

    Passionately Pets
We have two Corgis and could not be happier with the special attention paid to our two boys. We switched to Passionately Pets from another service due to issues with the other service. I explained the issues to Passionately Pets on the initial visit and they explained how they screen their employees and have policies in place to make sure that does not happen. I always received a photo or two and an update on the boys and they were always responsive to last minute requests. Payment was very simple as well.

    Passionately Pets
Passionately Pets is the best thing I have found in reference to the care of our dogs. The invoicing and scheduling is very efficient. Lisa is the best. Conroy and Jayden love her so much. She also have to deal with my two little dogs and treats them so well. Rena is not a nice dog. She has nipped at Lisa two times an Lisa is so understanding. Coco loves the belly rubs that Lisa gives her. I am so happy I found Passionately Pet it has been a life saver for my Grand Daughter and I. The best part is that Lisa our Walker is always prompt, loving and on time.

    Passionately Pets
Passionately Pets is terrific! The whole team has been great over the last 2+ years we've used their service. Have there been occasional hiccups? Sure! It's almost impossible, when you use a service daily, for absolute perfection. But, they are few and far between, the team always rushes to correct any issues, and I love using a service that ensures your pet will get his/her walk no matter what an individual walker has going on... Our usual walker (Henry) is terrific, Julia (the manager) is super-responsive (and a terrific sub when needed), etc... just a great group of people...

    VCA Alexandria Animal Hospital
The clinic hasn't got the lowest prices around, but we've never been disappointed in the care we got there. Since the one veterinarian with a specialized interest in treating dog behavioral issues retired, we don't have a regular vet there, but we've liked everyone who has seen our dog. The emergency clinic is very expensive, not surprisingly. Though the clinic only treats dogs and cats, we've taken a guinea pig to the emergency clinic twice, and both times the vet that we saw knew how to treat the guinea pig.

    Reserved Barking
Dog likes going there. Gets excited to go in and anticipating attendant coming out to get her. Gets excited when she sees me packing up her stuff to go to "sleep-away camp" when we are going on a trip. Equally happy to see us at the end of either a daycare or a boarding period. Other dogs seem similarly comfortable coming and going. I figure the dog knows if it's a good place or not. Few employees stay for long, but so far, most of them have seemed to have gentle manner with the dogs. There's no doggie cam, but again, if the dog's happy, things must all be fine. Dogs are crated for an afternoon rest period and at night for boarding. They do get short walks during the day, in addition to an outdoor play area.

    VCA Alexandria Animal Hospital
Since the one veterinarian at VCA who had a special interest in dog behavior issues retired, we haven't had a specific practitioner that we see - but everyone who has treated our dog has been excellent. They sometimes get behind, though that's improved with the last few visits. They aren't the least expensive practice, but I think they earn what they charge. The emergency clinic services are much more costly, but also very good in our experience. We have a dog and at one point had a guinea pig. The dog has been treated at the regular clinic and in the emergency service, The guinea pig went in for night time emergency service twice, and both times the treatment was appropriate. We and the guinea pig would have been referred to an exotic-animal clinic if it had needed more treatment, but the emergency vet on duty was able to provide outpatient care for the issues we took it in for. This was some years ago, don't know what their current policy for emergency treatment of exotics is, but the staff took good care of the guinea pig at the time.

Dog Gone Walking & Pet Care LLC
Our dogs look forward to the the daily walks and have become great friends with our walker Cassie. When we had a death in the family the owner provided last minute boarding himself. This is a great company with services we believe are a great value.

    Pretty Pets
Caveat Emptor - We used this business before the current owner took, we gave them a 5 star review. We have sent five different dogs, even rescued dogs that we fostered before they went to their forever homes. In fact, we had such a good relationship with the previous owner, they wanted to use our dogs for a grooming competition. When the new current owner took over, during the first visit they hurt one of our dogs. They did not mention it to us when we picked him up, it was noticed when we got home. We took pictures and took him to his Vet. Thankfully, everything turned out fine. We quit using them, until we got a Groupon. As a strong believer in using local businesses, we thought we would do our research and give them another try. The first visit went fine, hence a second visit. When we went to pick him up, things went bad. Not wanting to get into the assorted details of what happened, we will not go back. This is what we all should expect at a minimum from a groomer or anyone we entrust our puppies to: 1) They will not hurt the dog and if an accident does happen, they report it to you when it happens. 2) They will cut the dogs hair according to the breeds standards, and if they are not able to do this, they will let you know in advance. 3) They will not be rude to you, their customers, and if it does happen they apologize. 4) They listen to you, their customers, and not yell at you when they report any of these issues.
