    Dominion Surveyors, Inc.
As a contractor I have had numerous customers request additions and alterations which require a plat. Some have them some do not. For those that do not, I recommend or directly contract with Dominion Surveyors. They have been a great help every time I have used them. Their plats are accurate and professionally produced. I have only once had a miscommunication with them and George, the owner, was able to get it resolved right away. I will continue to use and recommend them.

    Apex Surveys
Great overall experience. Apex was very polite an prompt in their communication (via email and phone) and they delivered my setback survey in timely manner. I emailed Apex to get an estimate for a setback certification. They responded within an hour with a quote. After shopping around for other companies, I decided to Apex because of their promptness and politeness in their email. I called to schedule the survey and Apex said they were about 7-10 days out to start the work. I still agreed to continue with their service. On a Friday about 10 days later, Apex showed up to do the surveying. I received an email from Apex on the following Wednesday (3 business days later) stating my survey was completed and once my payment was made, they would electronically forward my survey to print, or, if I was unable to print it, they would also mail it to me.

I needed to have my property surveyed to establish property lines before I had my back fence replaced and a deck built.  I chose Jim because of the good reviews I saw on Angie?s List.  I emailed him and got a prompt response. We set up an
Jim arrived at our agreed upon appointment time.  He surveyed my property (a townhouse), but couldn?t stake the back yard because my property line is behind my back fence.  He said he would deduct $50 from my bill because he couldn?t stake it.  I
paid him $275 via PayPal and he emailed me a PDF plat of my property.
My fence builder then removed my old fence so that Jim could access the property and stake it before the new fence was built. After I emailed him, Jim returned another day and staked the back yard, which included steel rods for easy future location. I
paid $50 via PayPal, a very easy process.
I was very pleased with his service and would highly recommend him. His fees are lower than other surveyors and I think I got the
    same good service.

Joe was very prompt, courteous, and professional with the survey.  I called him on Wednesday and he came during his first opening (the following Monday) to survey my property.  He was able to email me a PDF of the plat within a few hours and dropped a copy in the mail too.  Perfect transaction.

Joe Bronder was terrific for the whole process. He researched the property and created a survey drawing showing the borders of our property. The price was very reasonable and the service and communication was excellent.

The company was professional and responsive. They were prompt in completing their work to maintain the construction schedule. They were responsive to comments and stood behind their work. Their proposal was inclusive of all surveying services we may have needed, but as homeowners, we could pick the actual services that we wanted done. This was helpful for us to get a sense of what the full scope of services would cost but allowed us to modify if to meet our actual needs and budget.

Went great, they did the survey while we were at work.  1 week later we received the paperwork in a packet in the mail.  Very pleased with the whole process although I thought the price was a bit steep.

Jim was amazing throughout the entire process. We contacted him asking for help with getting an elevation certificate after the company recommended by our insurance company didn't respond after two days. It was really taking a flyer to contact him, but he responded within an hour to my email.
We corresponded over email to discuss what I needed (an elevation certificate) and how quickly (within 48 hours), and he offered to do the certificate for $350 with a deposit required ($175) beforehand and the remainder after it's done. He actually did the surveying the morning after I emailed him, within about 15 hours. We'd been told other places may take up to 3 weeks, and for double the price.
He was very patient with all of my questions, and happy to explain the results and process in more detail as well. For someone looking for a surveyor, I'd highly recommend Jim's company to everyone. For those unfamiliar with what they're doing, he'll answer the questions to make you feel more confident. Thank you very much, and keep up the great work.

    AS&R Consultants, LLC
After the location survey was complete, we were told by Rajendra Lal,
the owner of the company, that his friends in the zoning office told him that we would need a Topographic survey for a
special permit and this $2800.00 item was added to the contract.  Once this was
completed and paid for, the county said we were given improper
information and this survey was not needed for our type of special permit application.  The first two sets of plans were
not accepted by the county permit office due to errors  in the
engineering.  After more than 4 months time and more
expensive line items added to the contract, a final set of plans was
submitted without our having time to review them, and they were accepted
and a permit issued. Our contractor and subcontractors reviewed the plans, and we were
told that the addition could not be built as drawn.  To our knowledge,
no measurements were ever done by the engineer or the architect.  The
foundation and beam supports had been so badly engineered that the original main load bearing masonry wall of
the house would be greatly undermined and weakened.  The plans did not
include complete framing details, and did not address lining up and attaching the addition to the original second floor of the house.  There would have been a large gap in the roof.  The plan included a stairwell that did not line up vertically top to bottom, so that part of it was inside a bedroom wall!  Every price had to be negotiated by haggling, starting thousands of dollars higher than was finally agreed upon.
We have now hired a replacement building designer, who has provided us with a very complete, structurally sound
and build-able set of plans for less money and it only took 8 weeks from his 9 hour day spent measuring our house to having a building permit issued on the first plan submission at the original contract price.
I would not recommend AS&R Consultants to anyone.

The owner of the company responded to my request for service in less than 12 hours!  He told me what the service entailed how long it took and how payment can be made.
We agreed on a date, but when an opening came up, they were actually able to perform the service only a few days later (original service date was still within the week).  All services addressed exactly what was needed and they documents provided were certified and readily acceptable by local governments.  They also made sure to send my my copy within just two days of the service being performed.
