He showed up on time and was very pleasant to deal with. Explained what needed to be done, how it would be done and provided clear information about the entire process. I appreciated his honesty and will use him again if I have issues with any other appliances.

The repair man called before showing up and arrived about 30 minutes into the three hour window. He checked the machine to confirm the problem (broken water pump), had the parts on the truck, and completed the repair within an hour. The service call was on time, efficient, and professional.

    Sears Appliance Repair
The technician came, gave us a quote and my wife had to contact me about the charges prior to us agreeing to it. The tech said he'd have to come back, and charge us ANOTHER diagnostic fee for the return trip. Multiple calls about how irrational that is to Sears corporate and nothing. Do not use this company. They will rip you off!

    Sears Appliance Repair
I was having an issue with my dishwasher and it was suggested that I contact Sears to have them come out to check it. The only thing with regards to my experience with Sears that was good was the online appointment setup. Everything else was a disaster. Upon making the appointment, Sears sent out a Technician that did not have the skill, knowledge, or experience with dealing with my GE dishwasher. Now keep in mind that during my online setup of the appointment, there was no indication that Sears couldnt provide repair services to GE appliances because GE was an option to choose from. When the Technician arrived to take a look at the dishwasher, he could not locate the point of entry to the control panel in order to provide me with a diagnosis. He stated to me that there was no way that he could check the dishwasher because there was no way to open up the inside door panel in order to diagnose the problem. He proceeded to make an educated guess based on the fact that the dishwasher would not turn on, that the control panel had gone bad. After he made that educated guess, he went on to state that in order for him to be sure, he have to force his way into the panel of the door in order to check and be certain, BUT before he could do that I needed to sign a damage waiver in the event that he damages the dishwasher by forcing his way into it. . When I informed him that I would not be signing it, he said, ok, well there is nothing else I can do. But here is the kicker, even though he was unable to provide me with an accurate diagnosis due to the fact that he could not get into the dishwasher to do so, he still expected me to pay the diagnosis fee. Considering the fact that he did not have the proper experience to open up my dishwasher to provide an accurate diagnosis (not an educated guess), I didnt feel like the fee was owed. I asked to speak to his manager with regards to this situation and he refused to allow me to do so stating that his manager doesnt speak to customers over the phone. Considering the unresolved issue, I refused to pay so he left and stated that I would be sent a bill in the mail and that I could dispute it then. Oh, but wait, it gets worse. So after he left, I contacted the Sears Repair Customer Service line and they were not able to help me until their system refreshed with the Technicians notes, which would not be for 24 hours. 24 hours pass and I give them a call back. I asked to speak to a manager in regards to my issue and it literally took me 10 minutes to have the Customer Rep transfer me to her Supervisor. Upon connecting with her Supervisor, she was just as unhelpful as the Customer Representative. After explaining the situation to the Supervisor and requesting for them to waive the $59 diagnosis fee based off of the fact that the services were not rendered because the Technician was not skilled enough to even get into the dishwasher in order to provide me with an actual diagnosis and repair estimate, she refused to do so stating that she doesnt have the authority to waive it. When I requested to speak to a manager above her that had the authority she did not comply. To make matters worse, the Supervisor reads the Technicians notes and it states that he diagnosed that the dishwasher had a bad control panel and needed to be replaced. He then submitted a quote for $200+ dollars for the repair. At this point Im upset and I tell the Supervisor, how in the world can he provide a repair estimate to you all, when he wasnt even able to get into the dishwasher to provide an accurate diagnosis and repair estimate!!!!... After I got off the phone to them, I contacted their Corporate office and the lady that answered cut me off while I was talking to her, transferred me to a voicemail to leave a voice message. This was two days ago and I still have not heard from anybody!!! To sum up the rest of my issue with Sears, I had to call back again the next day and spoke to yet another Customer Representative, and she referred me to the National Claims Department. As of right now, submitted a complaint with them and provided my justification as to why I should not be responsible for the diagnosis fee and Im just waiting to hear back from them. Oh One more thing. As proof that the Sears Technician did not have the experience with GE appliances, I contacted GE and they sent out a Technician who actually located the control panel (it was at the bottom of the dishwasher, not in the door panel), he did a thorough examination, and based off of what he did, he made the determination that there was nothing wrong with the dishwasher itself, the power source that the dishwasher was plugged into was bad. He proved it worked by plugging it up to another power source. So the Sears Technicians educated guess was completely wrong, and if I would have signed that waiver and allowed him to force his way into my dishwasher, he would have potentially damaged my dishwasher when there was nothing wrong with it in the first place!!! I definitely would not recommend Sears for any kind of repair services to friends or family. After explaining this to a few friends, they told me that they all have heard horror stories about their Repair Service department.

    All American Appliance Service Inc
Mark from All American Appliance Service gave me a call 15-minutes before he arrived and he was within the window they had set the appointment for. He proceeded to work on the downdraft vent and determined that the mechanism that raises/lowers the vent was not totally broken, it just got dislodged somehow. He fixed it in less than 30 minutes and did an excellent job. I also asked for an estimate on fixing our non-working water dispenser/icemaker in our fridge and he immediately knew what the problem was but did some confirmation by unhooking the water tube and seeing if water was still going to the fridge. He believes it is the filtration assembly that is defective and gave me an estimate for the parts/labor to get it replaced. The pricing estimates were fair and he said he would come back to put in the assembly once it arrives. Very professional and did not pressure me into anything that I didn't ask about. Would gladly recommend.

    Expert Appliance Services
We had an older dryer that came with the house when we bought it 2 years ago. When I called they told me they could have a technician out in 1 to 3 hours. 30 minutes later Sam called and said he was on his way. He arrived soon thereafter and was extremely polite and courteous. After inspecting the dryer he said it was most likely one of two issues, either thermostat or heating element. During the disassembly of the dryer he pointed out that it had never been serviced and began to uncake thick layers of lint and pulled out more than a few items that were making the loud grinding noises we frequently heard. He also pointed out the wheels that the drum sat on were so dirty they wouldn't spin freely. All told we got the heating element replaced and an excellent servicing performed on the dryer for the same price. All this in less than an hour! I would not hesitate to recommend Expert Appliance services for high quality service and repair. They rank at the top of my Angie's list and Sam is the best.

    Apple Appliance Repair - Fairfax
The technicians - two guys from India living/working the American dream - took every thing apart, tested the electronics in five minutes. They could have told me I needed a major repair - and expensive fix - but instead they determined I was not using the ice maker enough and it just froze up. They said if I just filled a glass with cubes once every few days it would never happen again. They were right!

Typical company - waited all day and missed a day of work for them to show up at 6:00 PM.  Technician barely spoke English so I'm not sure if he understood exactly what was going on.  Filled it with freon and that was it.  Unit stopped working again a few weeks later.
The best part of the story is that they charged me twice and refuse to refund my money because "they are too busy."  Ridiculous company and if the home warranty company tries to send them again, I'll refuse.

It was okay. The big deal price was $74. They were going to come back and charge me additional money. But I wasn’t comfortable using them again. They had the parts with them. I think I had to pay additional money for the parts.  I started to be suspecting because I hadn’t changed the water filter in quite some time. I ordered one online while he was there. He was supposed to come back and install something else. He called me once for it, and I never called him back because I wasn’t sure that fixing the water filter would have fixed the ice maker in the first place. I wasn’t comfortable. I can't say for sure that he ripped me off. I just wasn’t comfortable moving forward with using him. I think they could be more upfront. In my particular case, they could have me replace the water filter first and if I still had the ice maker issue, then we could have looked at repairing it.

First he tried to convince me it wasn't the fuse, but I knew that wasn't the case.  The only reason I didn't replace it myself is that I couldn't easily get to it on my dryer.  I had already purchased a fuse for $13 and he told me if I didn't buy his fuse for $50 that he wouldn't make any money.  I told him I wasn't paying $50 for a part I had already purchased.  He quickly replaced the fuse and then left without reassembling the dryer.
