    Curbing by Buzz Co
This was the only company that seemed interested in doing the job I wanted. Others were reluctant to remove the old curbing. Buzz described in advance how he would handle the job. He was confident and instilled confidence. He performed as promised. The price was a little higher than other quotes for the installation part, but the value was in the good product.

    Curbing by Buzz Co
It was an amazing experience. They came out and gave me a quote and it was a lot of work than what everybody else had been quoting. So we just scheduled them right away. He and his son came back and the job was done two or three days later. It was really amazing and he had good suggestions but we had solved it. We will not use anybody but him. He was really nice and they were hard workers.

Picked up trash that was here hen they arrived and still 20 years later our concrete is standing strong. Worth waiting my turn with Dennis as well as the slightly higher price.

    Abstract Masonry Restoration
I got a couple of proposals from them which I am evaluating. The proposals were really professional and top notch. One estimate was for $40,000 and the other for $8000. I think they are trying to be more than I want. They seem like a good company and they have been really responsive, I just need to see if I could come to a meeting of minds with them. I have seen them in my area doing work and they professionally do good work, though I don’t have any direct experience. I will use them if we could come to a meeting of minds.

Nelson did everything on schedule and was a very hard worker, rarely taking a break.  He sub contracted the cement work & dirt removal, but was there 100% of the time to supervise the workers, which we really appreciated.  His overall work exceeded our expectations and his overall price was 25% below our other bids. Nelson Triplett was professional and polite.  A gentleman - which is rare these days.

    #1 Concrete Lifting
Communication was always good with both Mark and his area manager; Josh. Josh was actually very helpful with advice. He came out to our house, reviewed the situation and gave me an understandable explanation of how to both remedy things (no footers on one end of our older home) and how to protect against future damage. He spent probably 20mins detailing different options and their effectiveness. At that first meeting I knew Josh was my choice for the job, I just needed to verify their licensing/insurance and arrange funding. Seemed like a done deal. Mark Loertscher was very forthcoming with offers to show us evidence of insurance. Right before I was ready to issue payment, I went to verify licensing and am left doesn't exist for this company as a 'contractor'. Kim at Utah DOL Professional Standards and Licensing said that an application has been submitted for #1 Concrete Lifting as a business but it's not approved yet...I was told that they've been working for YEARS but maybe under another name...and that Mark has a business license but is not himself a Licensed Contractor. Our written bid asked that checks/payment be made directly to him. Lastly, the BBB shows an "F rating" and says that they've had 4 compaints against them; two in 2011 and two in 2009. The most recent ones were resolved. If one of these situations existed I'd probably call for an explanation and move forward...but  the sum has me hitting my brakes. I still want to use them!!!!  Josh has me convinced that he not only knows what he's doing but has our best interests at heart. I just can't justify going with a corporation that isn't recognized as 'licensed' by the State of Utah. If that issue were resolved, I'd probably ask Mark about the BBB issues and move forward...if we ever buy another house and need help I'll probably pull out Josh's card and see if they are ready by then. Right now, I'm too rattled to feel confident about this provider...who has never acted in any way other than professional. It's the paperwork that's not in order. All things considered, I feel compelled to move on.

    Roundy Landscaping
Roundy landscaping will stop coming the second they are paid off no matter how much work is left undone. We were left we a broken/ leaky fountain, patchy grass, and so much more! I could write pages about the mismanaged job, poor workmanship and how bad we were burned. Since making the mistake of hiring them I've heard from several people they are in the process of suing roundy for different reasons. Stay far far away from Thomas Roundy!

    Hatfield Construction LLC
When the contractor completed the pour and started to build the garage, they overfilled the chalk box and red chalk spilled on the new unsealed concrete. They did not clean up the mess and continued to work, tracking the red chalk all over the new driveway, garage pad, and dog kennel area. They also placed the wood that was to be used to build the garage on the new driveway which, when it rained, stained the driveway. After several times of asking them to clean it up they attempted to use a power washer and steam cleanerer which did not work. They attempted to remove the stains with an acid wash which left black burn marks on the driveway. All of this caused a brand new concrete driveway to look as if it was 20 years old. There were also problems with the grading of the driveway. There were 4 large puddles that would not drain off. We ended up tearing out the brand new driveway and had another contractor repour it. Upon removal of the driveway poured a little over a month previously, we found no subgrade was put down, the concrete thickness ranged from 2 1/2 in one area to 7 inches thick just a few feet away. The contractor had also poured concrete over the cement runoff from the foundation/pad. They left garbage in our yard that we had to ask at least 5 times before they would haul it off. They splattered concrete over the pre-existing carport and patio as well as a wall that makes up the frame of the covered parking area of our home. There roofer would not show up with his own ladder but would always use ours to get on the roof and finish his project. The contractors would show up mid morning and usually ended about 3:00 pm. This project took them from the end of July to the end of Septmeber to complete.
