Master Muffler & Brake - West Valley
Went to shop for what I thought to be exhaust replacement. Turn out to be a minor repair which was performed at no charge

Small, no frills shop, but Rene was very friendly and helpful in replacing my 9 year old, rusted muffler. Ordered factory muffler in advance, called me the next day when part arrived and installed muffler in less than 90 minutes. Easy to deal with, excellent work, and it is a nice father & son team!

    Jerry Lambert Automotive
I recently bought a car and went to Jerry Lambert. I was hearing a wheel bearing noise and thought it was premature for a bearing to go out. He got it out and determined which bearing it was. I was going to have him replace them both, just in case. He told me it was more than likely a defected one, and said that if it had been needed, he would have recommended replacing both, but that it wasn't necessary at this time. I just thought that was a breath of fresh air to get that advice. I use Jerry to work on domestic vehicles. He's a full-service auto shop. I've used him limited times in the past and have always been treated fairly. I believe that their prices represent a good value, and they do a good job.

I have a 1987 vehicle. When I called to get an estimate from the competitors, the price was significantly higher, in most cases more than $100 difference. I got a reasonable quote from Midas, took it in without an appointment and it still only took 1 hour to repair the problem. They then charged me less than what they originally quoted. The reps were very friendly. Although I do not expect to have this problem again, I would go there and recommend them to others.

This week I needed to fix and oil leak, have my oil changed and have a headlight replaced.  Rex made sure I had my car after hours, did the work and charged me a pittance (I actually felt guilty that his charge was so low and gave him a good tip).  Go to any other mechanic and the price would EASILY been 4 times as much.  Thank you Rex, for providing excellent service at amazing prices.  You really have saved my budget.

    Major League Auto Repair
In March we had our brakes replaced on our 2001 Chevrolet Suburban. The brake job included turning the rotors and a high quality set of pads. We paid about $150 for the service. We also had the Suburban serviced. This was basically an castrol oil change and lube. Jeff was terrific to work with. We feel that Jeff really is an honest guy and an excellent mechanic. We take all of our cars to Major League Auto Repair. On the brake job we had done, Jeff was cheaper by about $30 than anyone else. It is interesting that many shops will advertise a brake job at $89. And when you go to ask about it, you find out that this does not include turning the rotors and it is a cheap set of brake pads from Auto Zone. And Suburbans are an extra charge anyway. The fuel pump just went out in April on our 2001 Suburban. This happened on the night before we were leaving on a trip to California. Jeff stayed late and changed the fuel pump. This is the second time we have replaced the fuel pump. Jeff charged about $500 and the last time we had this changed (in Scipio), it cost us $850 and and they used an inferior fuel pump. Jeff used a factory fuel pump.

    Ray's Muffler Service
They told me exactly what I needed. When they got in to do it, they found that I didn't need quite as much as they had estimated. They were honest about coming back and saying I don't need to have this work done and it was a lot less money. You don't usually get car dealerships or car repair places to do that. They were very honest even if it was a lot less money, I'll come back. They came back and  said that I don't really need as much as we thought. I appreciated that. They got it all done on time. Their price was competitive with every place I went. I don't ask anymore for somebody to work for my car. Overall, they've been great. I got four cars and I take them in. As for the price, I'll probably give them an A-. I called four places and they were exactly the same as all four places. They were not the cheapest guys out there but they weren't the most expensive. They were just right. I was very happy with the quality.

They said my problem could have been due to two things. They did the first one for free (which only required a quick adjustment) and told me that if that didn't fix the problem, they would try the other, more costly, solution. The first fix did the trick. I was extremely impressed that they gave me the inexpensive (free) option first and didn't try to get whatever money they could from me. I will come back to these guys for anything and everything I need in the future.

The tailpipe on my old, foreign, car was dragging on the ground. I took it to Master Muffler in South Salt Lake and they provided excellent service. They fixed the car in about an hour - without an appointment. I was allowed under the car with the Manager to see exactly what needed to be done and what could be salvaged. Rather than order an expensive exact fit muffler for the car (it is very difficult to get parts for this car), they slightly modified the system so they could use stock parts. They also kept the still usable parts and only replaced the parts that had rusted out. This kept the cost to a very reasonable amount. Quick, friendly and fair service!

They realized that the Emissions inspector who said I needed a new catalytic convertor was wrong, and fixed the minor underlying problems for almost nothing. For ten years I have always been pleasantly surprised at the superb work and reasonable price.
