I have dealt a few times getting parts for my Jeep with them. Previous encounters for a gas tank skid and some transfer case fluid went all right. However, I went in search of power steering fluid and things went bad. I did research on my particular vehicle, and Chrysler calls for it to use, in their service bulletins, a hydraulic fluid called MS5931. Being an engineer, I am very knowledgeable in the fact that using the proper fluid in a system greatly impacts the life of the system. Upon getting to the parts counter, I requested a quart of said product. The individual behind the desk was adamant that in fact I needed to use ATF4 instead. I again, being quite concerned to get the right stuff, pushed needing MS5931. The response was, "We call it many things, but its actually ATF4". He then proceeded to ask me what color it is. As if I know for sure that the fluid I have in the vehicle I have recently purchased is correct in the first place. This stupid venture went on as I finally purchased the ATF4 thinking maybe I had misread the reports. Upon getting home, sure enough the reports were correct on the MS5931 requirement. I called them up to try to settle my confusion over why I could not get the right stuff. They were disturbed that I too could get my hands on service bulletins for a vehicle, and that this somehow made me a terrible person, although my only concern is making sure my vehicle gets the right fluids. The scary comment to me, which has kept me from ever getting my vehicle serviced there was the comment, "We use ATF4 in all our vehicles regardless." Well I eventually did get the right stuff from them. Sure enough, it says right on the bottle "MS5931, use only for Jeep Grand Cherokees". If you use these guys, know a great deal about your Jeep, as I don't think they do. And I would check them on everything they put in your vehicle. At no time through this whole tussle did they use a book or computer to confirm what my vehicle actually takes. The statement directly from Chrysler reads, "DO NOT USE ATF4 in JEEP WJ SYSTEMS"
