    The Chimney Sweep
My dryer vent had never been cleaned, and I called this company to take care of this for me.  I also wanted them to check for damage to my chimney cap due to a recent severe hail storm, as well as inspect the fireplace from top to bottom to be sure all was well.

Adrian was prompt, courteous, and very informative every step of the way.  He did a great job of cleaning my dryer vent and then he took time to help me understand every aspect of my fireplace and the chimney so he spent quite a bit of time on teaching and informing me.  I certainly appreciate his willingness to answer all my questions.  I especially appreciate the fact that he told me my chimney cap was fine and did not need to be replaced.  I actually had no idea if it did or not and honesty such as that needs to be commended.  The only thing I paid for was to have the dryer vent cleaned.

I would recommend this company for any job you have.

Perils of the Vertical Roof Terminating Clothes Dryer
The houses I lived in prior to 2007 all had your typical
clothes dryer installation of which was vented directly through an outside
wall. I could periodically inspect the hose and the louvered dryer vent hood on
the outside, and proceed to clean or replace as necessary. When I looked at
buying a new house on 2007, I noticed the laundry room was not next to an
outside wall. I asked the builder how it was vented, and he proceeded to tell
me it was a vertical steel pipe that went through the roof. Instantly, all
these questions popped into my mind. What a bad idea. I went up in the attic
and looked this shiny 4? diameter metal tube in shock and dismay. We bought the
house anyway and I recently got the vent system professionally cleaned, so I
wanted to share this with everyone. I put this off for too long. If you have
one of these, don?t fall victim as one of the 15,000 clothes dryer related
fires in the USA each year. The lint collection it not only combustible, it
ruins the efficiency of your clothes dryer, wasting a lot of electricity.
It?s doesn't take a genius to comprehend how the vertical
dryer vent pipe is a problem. The filter in the dryer can only catch a portion
of the lint. I've been told it catches about 70% of the lint. So the rest of
the lint exits the dryer. Imagine a flow of lint going up a vertical pipe (22
feet long in my case). Boom?the dryer shuts off. The lint suspended in the pipe
now drops down to the bottom by gravity. The hard right angle that transitions
the horizontal hose to the vertical pipe collects this lint. If you think
subsequent dryer operations will blow it all back out, guess again. The lint is
moist and winds up caking and building up like cement. Here?s what my 90° bend
    looked like.
Another peril of this system is condensation. The exhaust
of the clothes dryer contains partly steam. As this steam gets blown up the
pipe, the part of the pipe in the attic is cold in the winter. This lowers the
temperature of the steam and turns it to moisture. The moisture makes ?caking?
of the lint to the pipe internal walls even worse. Notice how the inside of the
vent pipe near the bottom is not coated so heavily, and how the part near the
roof is more thickly coated with lint buildup.
    Termination Cap
The lint is supposed to exit the sides of this cap, but
as you can imagine, a considerable amount will get collected and stuck the top.
It appears in my case, the buildup was so big, it became
unseated from the top cap. Now, every time the dryer was operating, it would be
tossing that big chunk of lint around. This results in a lot of back-flow
    pressure and long drying times.
As a member of Angie?s list, I found HomeSafe Dryer Vent
Cleaning as a top choice. Jacob came out and did a fantastic job. He is also
very professional. You get a full set of before and after pictures. He didn't
seem to mind me asking him with a lot of questions.
    LintAlert System
Jacob from HomeSafe Vent Cleaning recommended a device
called the LintAlert. It appears to be a simple pressure sensor that is
connected to the dryer hose through a length of tubing. With the vent cleaned,
the LintAlert is calibrated for your system to provide a zero reading. As
buildup increases, the blockage indicator shows it on an LED array. You can
imagine the guess work of when to schedule your next cleaning. There are so
many variables. How often do you use your dryer? How cold is your attic and for
how long? Could a bird nest or other obstruction be restricting flow? This
device will give a real time indication. I?m comforted to have this device now.
    Fast forward to 2015
The Lint Alert began illuminating the up to the last two
red LEDs a few months ago, so I knew it was time. They came back out cleaned it
again, and now I know what the pipe looks like when the Lint Alert is maxed

    Mr Duct Cleaner
Went great!  Turned out to be more of a job than they anticipated as, per usual, the homebuilder 'rigged' the way the dryer vent went from the utility room through the roof.  But they were persistent and worked and worked until they were able to finish the job.  Great service!  Would definitely use them!

    Dryer Venting Services
My previous dryer vent dumped into the garage and I'd wanted this changed for years. If I'd known it would be this easy and cheap to do, I'd have done it years ago. I supplied a dryer box to be inset into the wall and made the drywall cuts and repairs afterwards. Robert installed the 4and quot; dryer vent pipes into the wall, through a fur down to avoid the structural 2x4's, through the attic and out the roof top. He sealed all the joints along the way with metal tape. I will probably go back and spray expanding foam into the cracks where the pipe enters the attic. I'll also go back and paint the metal vent on the roof to match the others, when it gets cooler. Robert did all he promised in an excellent manner.

    Collin Creek Home Air Care
My dryer was taking longer and longer to dry laundry, so I contacted Collin Creek Duct Cleaning to perform the service based on recommendations, an Angie's List deal, and their location. The staff was friendly and professional on the phone when making the appointment and when at my house doing the work. They did a great job, and my laundry is drying in a more reasonable amount of time.

    HomeSafe Dryer Vent Cleaning
I have one of those troubling vertical vent pipes that terminates on the roof. I've been concerned about it since I purchased my home in 2007. The buildup was in worse shape that I thought. Jacob was very professional and made the whole experience wonderful. He also sold me the LintAlert device that measures the vent pressure so I can just observe its metering to decide on the timing of my next service. I highly recommend this service.

    Dryer Venting Services
Robert was very responsive to my phone call and did a good job of understanding my problem that I had to describe to him in layman's terms since I am not a fix it person. He came out within 2 hours of my call to begin the work. Not only did he assess the problem and fix it, but he took the time to educate me on what I needed to do in the future to ensure that everything remained in working order. He did an even better, more thorough job than I anticipated. I will bring him back yearly to perform the same service and I'd recommend him to friends as well.

    Dryer Venting Services
He arrived on time late afternoon and worked late into the evening in my attic in very cold temperatures to finish our job. The PVC duct that was originally installed in our home had to be removed, which was quite a project due to vaulted ceiling. He cut all the removed PVC into small pieces so we could easily dispose of it. He did have to cut into sheet rock in laundry room to install new duct due to our vaulted ceiling. He did a very nice/clean job. He is very professional and will definitely use him again.
