Auto Service reviews in Wimberley

    First Texas Honda
I always go to the dealership to get anything done except for oil changes. But any of the regular service I go to them. They checked everything and there was nothing was wrong. I like that they are honest with any repairs. In general they are good and they will give you a loaner car and all that. You have to wait when you come in. They used to make an appointment but now they just take you when you come, which is convenient in a lot of ways but you have to sit around and wait in the waiting room.

    H & H Radio Specialist
I arrived 15 minutes before appointment and work began immediately, plus, the job was completed more quickly than expected. So quickly, that I had time for lunch before my endodontist appointment.
The radio install looks good and the new unit allows bluetooth and hands-free phone operation, while maintaining the controls on my steering wheel.
It is a pleasure to deal with a knowledgable, efficient and likable professional, plus, my unit had been unboxed and set up prior to arrival, which cut down my wait. Thank you for considering your customers' time.
All that and a fair price too, tough to find in almost any business today.
And thank you, Angie's List, for providing the reviews that led me to H & H Radio Specialist.

They gave us good money on the trade in and gave us a good deal on the car. We had a tire go bad and they switched it out for us. I never have to wait for service and I can go online or call them to schedule it.

We had backup cameras with rear-view mirror monitors installed in my wife's 2004 Lexus SUV and my 2008 Honda truck.
The units had to be a bit different but the results were the same. The cameras are small and the rear-view mirrors now self dimming as well as having the left portion used as a back-up camera when in reverse.
We were able to have one car done while running errands, then the other done and all finished by closing time, and in one afternoon.
On one vehicle, a bit of connector wire stuck out and when this was pointed out, they quickly tucked it totally away.
We were pleased with taking us when scheduled, and getting one car after another finished by the end of business hours.
    A very good experience.

I stopped by for an estimate.
Mauro said there would be three ways to fix the bumper, from $75 to more, and much more. For my purposes, I chose the low-price option and was surprised that Mauro said he'd do that right away while I waited.
He took about an hour to reshape the round depression then added a little touch-up paint and I was ready to go. On detailed inspection, it doesn't look quite as good as new, as his other options would. But from a normal distance, or even close inspection, no one would guess there had been a gouge in the plastic bumper, especially not one so deep and round as a grapefruit.
And would I recommend this business to a friend? We've already scheduled a visit for my wife's car.
    Thank you.

As expected - based on service I had performed on my previous vehicle, an Acura RSX.
I tend to maintain my vehicles and run them as long as they're willing and I'm happy with them.  My dad was a mechanic and I came of age doing all my own service and repair.  When my time became more valuable to me - and cars more complex - I found a mechanic I could trust.  Along the way I became a big fan of Honda/Acura vehicles for their tremendous durability (about the same as Toyota, but more fun to drive).
Kevin and his crew took very good care of my previous vehicle (Acura RSX).
I expected no less for the Honda S2000 - and I have to say they rose to the occasion.
I just wish they weren't so far away, but I'll gladly go out of my way for expertise, honesty and great service.
I found Hondacure online (Yelp) and I now completely understand and agree with the positive feedback I found there!

I had a slow leak in one tire and called to ask if they would be able to fix it that afternoon. It was close to closing time and the guy on the phone said as long as I got there soon they would be able to do it. When I arrived the guy was waiting for me and asked me to back it up to the bay. When he saw I was in a wheelchair, he said I could wait in the van if I wanted to, which I did. 10 or 15 minutes later I was on my way. He charged me less than $10 (I think it was $5). That was over a month ago and the tire is still holding air.
It was only a simple repair but the guy was fast, friendly, and professional. I will definitely go back when I need more work done.

    Lester's Shop
Wow!!! This is an outstanding shop. I am a car guy and can promise you that you don't find shops like this very often any more. This is like an old timey mechanics shop and I mean that as a huge compliment. The price was great. I had the same exact job done a year earlier and that cost me $761.84. Lester charged $526.47. That is 31% less.Lester is a great guy and he appears to have a good size staff of mechanics. I told Lester that I was going to have to wait for my truck to get repaired. He said it would be 2 hours. I arrived at 8am and was out of there at 10:05am. And that was after the parts store sent the wrong parts the first time. It doesn't get any better than that.I STRONGLY recommend Lester's. You will not be dissappointed.

    Klingemann American Car Care Centers
I sometimes felt grinding when I applied the brakes. They were very professional, short wait for diagnostics. They then took me into the shop area and showed me exactly what the problems were. I have done some of my own brake jobs in the past and so was somewhat familiar with what I was being shown. A brake caliper piston was sticking and causing one brake to drag, this probably caused the wear that required that rotor to be replaced. I asked about rebuilding the caliper and they said they would replace it with a rebuilt caliper.

Their quote did not show parts cost, only a total. The price seemed high and when hesitated, they said they could give me a 10% discount.

They already had it up on the rack and the wheels off and I wanwas in a hurry, so I told them to go ahead and do it. I assumed the parts were much more expensive than they were. Today, I searched the part numbers they used listed, without prices on the internet, most were available from an auto parts just down the street from them.  Using the retail prices the total was $173, about half of what I expected, the repair shop would gets a discount off that. So Labor for the brake job was $447. On a brake job, the calipers and rotors must be removed so the rotors can be turned, so there very little , if any, extra labor to replace those items. A brake job should not cost more than about $150, so adding $173, probably should have cost no more than $350. I don't mind paying extra for quality work, but I feel their charges was excessive.

Other than that it was a good experience. At $400 It would have been an overall good experience, but at $600 after the 10% discount, I feel taken advantage of. I doubt I will use them again.

The only thing they charged me for is the oil change because the air conditioner was still under warranty.
