  • As the work proceeded, Mr. Ruth presented invoices at intervals and each was promptly paid in full. The last work was completed in October 2016 but Mr. Ruth did not provide a final invoice. We contacted him five times (four documented e-mails/texts and one phone call) in January and February of 2017 to request his final invoice. Apart from one reply indicating the paperwork would be available soon, there were no other responses. During this time our property was placed on the market, an offer was accepted and a closing date was set for mid-March. On the morning of the closing we received an e-mail from Mr. Ruth shortly after the signing had been completed. This e-mail provided the final invoice we’d requested and notification of a materialman’s lien Mr. Ruth intended to file against our property if we didn’t pay his bill in full by an early afternoon deadline. Over the course of a long series of e-mails during the day, Mr. Ruth tried to incorporate the cost of filing the lien ($500) and his attorney costs into our total, threatened to increase the invoice amount by several thousand dollars for “additional work” he hadn’t previously included and later demanded a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) to prevent us from “disparaging” him and his company. When asked why he was filing a lien instead of simply providing the final invoice we'd repeatedly requested, Mr. Ruth wrote that he “didn’t like our attitude and disposition” over the past few months. We made contact with our lawyer at that point and set up an escrow to pay the invoice from our proceeds so the closing could complete. Mr. Ruth reiterated his threat to increase our invoice total over the ensuing days and occasionally returned to the NDA after we told him via our attorney there would be no such agreement. One week later this matter was still not resolved, so we terminated the relationship with our lawyer and hired new counsel. On the same day we received notice from Mr. Ruth’s lawyer indicating that he was now being represented. Our new attorney addressed this situation quickly and decisively, and within three days arrangements were made for us to pay only the original amount on the invoice from the escrow. Mr. Ruth was also advised that we no longer owed him money and any future attempts to charge us for the “additional work” would result in a deeper investigation of his business practices.

  • Terry is very knowledgeable and thorough. He made many suggestions to improve our project. He provided quality craftsmanship at a quality price. Always punctual and always followed through. We found him on Angie's list and we are so glad that We did!!

  • Bantex Construction's performance on the recent paint and texture job was outstanding, and we are very happy with the results.  Prior to using Bantex last year, we had another company paint our living room.  Not only did Bantex do an excellent job on our bathroom and kitchen, they repaired the inadequate work that the other company did.  They were prompt and friendly and reasonably priced.  We have - and will continue - to recommend Bantex Construction to our friends, and will use them for any future projects that our home requires.  My husband and I are so relieved to finally find a contractor that we can trust!

  • This is the second time we have used D & J . The first was a tricky job, a 3 foot concrete wall with a 7 foot wrought iron fence on top of it and a 10 foot wrought iron gate. It is hard to find folks that do quality wrought iron fence and gate work. They did an excellent job, on time, and at reasonable cost.
The second time was for a full demolition of our 30 year old wood deck, stairs, and gate . Total redesigned with wrought iron, new decking, new seating, new stairs, with planters, new seating area. They accented with pavers and stone. I got 4 bids, ranging from $40K to $18K. There's was the most reasonable, and included more fiberon than the other bids. The estimated time was 10 days, and it took 16, but it was SO worth them taking their time and doing it right. These guys are into making all the little details right. The quality and the attention they give to detail is unbelievable. They showed up on time each day. They cleaned up the job site each day and Craig checked in with me before the job was started and each day to make sure I approved of their progress.
They worked the weekend and finished on Tuesday, Craig, Pedro, Cal,  & Enrique were AWESOME!  I even made changes, had questions, and they answered everything, and helped me with the design, and figured out how to make all the changes look great.
Its not often you see a general contractor work along side of his crew. Craig did this every day.
I can't thank D & J  enough for their timely, excellent, and affordable work, and their workers were friendly and on time!!
I would recommend them to EVERYONE!!

  • I normally do not write reviews, because I've never had work done on my home in which a review was worth my time.  My husband and I used Bantex Construction for our 23 year old home.  Bantex rebuilt an upper deck, repaired siding, dry wall, and texture.  We also had years of water damage that had severely affected the structure of our home.  Bantex not only restored the area, but made it safer than it had ever been.  Our new deck is absolutely beautiful.  Bantex restored it to a better quality structure than when the home was new.  The crew hauled off every scrap of old damaged material and cleaned up everything.  Terry, the owner, was down to earth and very easy to deal with.  We always knew when to expect the crew, and Terry went out of his way to adjust to our schedule.  The foreman, Bob, and the crew were hard-working and easy to talk to.  I had never before used a company in which my comments or concerns were directly communicated from the foreman to the owner.  When I had a question, Bob would immediately call Terry.  There was no waiting until the next day to get an answer.  I very highly recommend Bantex, and my husband and I will certainly employ them for any future repairs or construction inside or out.

  • They did everything they said they would and they were professional.  They cleaned up their mess and they were here on time.  They put the whole roof on in one day.  They ripped it off and put the new one on in a single day.  I was very happy with that.  My expectations were set by them and met by them.  I can’t compare the price because I’ve never had roof work done before.  It was an insurance thing; he asked me how much the insurance was going to pay and I showed him. He said, “Okay, we’ll do it,” and he did it.  They were great.  The only issue I had was that the internet didn’t work because I have a satellite dish on my roof.  They did something to the cable so it wouldn’t work.  I called the provider and they fixed the cable.  They took good care of me there too.  They set a time frame about two weeks out and they showed up and did it when they said they would.

  • Terry came out and gave us an estimate to fix our deck. The structure was very insecure and the handrails were very wobbly. He gave us a quote to make the structure more stable and secure. Prior to performing the repairs he sent us a quote from Home Depot for all of the material costs. His costs were very reasonable. He performed the repairs in a timely manner and completed the work when he said. Terry came out an added some additional supports for only the material cost, no additional labor charges. He is very honest and does quality work. I would recommend him to anyone who needs such repairs

  • What a great experience. Joel was re-modeling a house to sell, and just after he had started I was invited to come look at it. I could tell right away that he was doing quality work, and I decided to buy the finished house. Joel completely stripped the interior of the house to the bare frame, and rebuilt it. He doesn't take any shortcuts, everything is done the right way the first time. He completely transformed the house from an old, run-down, small, outdated house to a clean, new, updated home. The quality of the work and the craftsmanship is obvious at a glance. Working with him was a pleasure, he delivered everything we asked from him and more. Coming in at the beginning of the process was great, because he explained all of his plans, and then worked with us to modify them to fit our tastes. He let us pick out the majority of the materials and fixtures, and took great care to make sure we would get what we wanted. If he says that he will do something, you can count on him to do it, do it right, and finish on time. The scope of the entire project was huge, there's almost too much to describe. The best thing about Joel is the details. Instead of taking the easy way and just putting in a flat ceiling in the two large bedrooms, he built recessed ceilings, and even pre-wired a junction box to add lights around the recess. He took the time to carefully remove the old kitchen cabinets without damaging them, and then installed them in the detached workshop. He saved every manual, registration card, and instruction sheet, along with any little wrenches or tools, for every item he installed, from the dishwasher to the shower heads to the towel bars. He stacked them all neatly in one of the kitchen drawers just in case we ever needed them. He spent hours pulling up floorboards in the front room so that he could dig dirt away from the floor joists at the front of the house. It was something that we would never see or check, but he knew it needed to be done to prevent the joists from being damaged by moisture or insects. He put in a concrete drainage trench in front of the carport to divert rainwater, which nobody else had even thought of as a problem. When he relocated the cold air return, instead of just framing in a plain wall above it, he used the hollow space to install custom built-in storage cabinets. When we built the deck, instead of a plain set of steps down to the patio, he built a more complicated, more decorative set because that's how he thought it should be done. I'm sure there are a lot of contractors/re-modelers out there that could have met the goals of this project in the same time and for the same price, but I doubt that many of them would have included the details and finishing touches that Joel did. He really takes pride in his work, and it shows.
