  • It was a great experience dealing with Shortell Spa Repair. I called and described my issue, they came out the following Saturday to do the repairs. I was at work at the time but my wife said they were very polite, and explained everything they were doing. I assumed they would look at the problems, order parts and get it repaired the following week, imagine my surprise when I came home to a running hot tub! They carried all the parts they needed and repaired it that afternoon. They even left the old parts there so I could see what all they replaced and why. Their service exceeded my expectations!

  • I had to call them to goad them into servicing my pool, though I paid them upfront. When I called them they promised to service my pool the next day in the morning but did not. I called later that day to no effective response but another promise that they service my pool pump  sometime in the next day. Lake Air never calls you to tell you they will not show up, nor actually calls you with the cost for pool servicing. Last summer they repeatedly charged be $700-900/month to service my pool with the majority of the expense pool chemicals. This overcharging for pool chemicals is a ploy for you sign up for weekly service for $120, but with no charge for chemicals.  They grossly overcharge for chemicals when you can buy the same chemicals at Walmart for $40 which last 3 months. The problem is that they require to have a charge card number on file and they blithly spends away. So ones choice is less service but being overcharged for chemicals or other small maintenance and being charged > $600/month. Or sign up for their weekly service and pay close to $500/month. When one tries to negotiate with them to just service the mechanical end of the pool for a one week fee  they reject your business. Clearly, they know that they are guaging there clients.  Their business practices are the worst I have encountered.

If you want to waste time nagging your pool service and be overcharge without notification then Lake Air is the vendor for you!

Lastly, avoid Richard as your pool maintenance person. He is messy, killed a bush in our yard and comes to fix our pump and doesn't. He actually had the temerity to pressure me to up my service before he would agree to service my pump and then didn't.

Then he says we need a new pump and I authorized the purchase ($900) with the credit card and two weeks has gone by with me calling now daily. Again promises are maid to repair my pump,  but not filled.

  • I had like five quotes for the roof that I had been getting over a year and his was so much less and it was a twenty year roof just like what I had and it is just beautiful. He is my go-to guy when I need something done. He last did three things and it was somewhere like $800 to $1000. He can handle a lot of things for me so I don’t have to call a whole lot of different people. One thing I really like is that he is very fair and honest about things. If he can’t do something, he is just real open and honest. He is very trusting. He is very, very professional, very ethical and just with conversations I have had about other things with him, I feel very good about working with him. He is a very good person and he knows his stuff. He is a really good person to work with.

  • We called several companies in the area just to get a quote. Crystal Lake Pools responded within 24 hours. Our sales repressive that gave us the quote was on time, professional, personable and very knowledgable.  He left us with a tile catalog to choose from and then we played phone tag for a couple of days before we were able to get a work order done.
We had agreed that the work would start on a Friday and they thought they could get it all done in a day. We put our 2 dogs in the kennel with that expectation but they cancelled on Friday and came on Monday instead. We kept the dogs in another night because they could not finish the job on Monday. They did not come on Tuesday to finish (as promised). Job was finished nicely on Wednesday.
We are still waiting to see if they will reimburse us for any of the kennel charges....

  • He didn't really fix the problem. They did come out but they didn't fix the problem. They sold a bunch of stuff to us and charged us a lot of stuff. They put a lot of chemicals in that didn't fix the problem. I will never use them again. I wish they would not just come to be there but to actually look at the plans and see what is going on. It wasn't difficult, they just needed to put a plug in, it had come out and the suction wasn't working right. It was a very basic thing.

  • The interaction was not so good. They were little hard to get in touch with after they finally came out. Scheduling and returning telephone calls was kind of tough. They did fix part of the problem and they didn't get it all. The stuff didn't show up until after they left. When we tried to get them to come back, they never come back. The price was real good for what they did. On quality, what they did was good. The responsiveness was very poor. My parents were dealing with them.

  • I used him last summer and things went great. He bought my pool chemicals in bulk at a warehouse in Dallas at a much cheaper price than I could have purchased them. He was very responsive and at times came over within hours to solve an emergency. I called him one evening this March because I couldn't get the spa heat to work for my daughter's birthday. He walked me through some problem solving tricks, so the kids could keep playing in the spa. I also called him out later in March when I noticed some yellow algea. He came over later that day and eradicated the outbreak.
