  • Bianca came promptly to do an evaluation of the project and sent me a quote by email the same day. The quote was a little higher than the one we received from a competitor, but I felt a lot better about the recommendations she made and what she said they could do to solve some of the problem areas we wanted to fix. It took a couple of days to remove and replace rotted wood, remove the old DIY gutters and install the new seamless gutters, then it took one more day for the paint crew to do their work. The workmanship was excellent and they were very responsive to my needs. They gave us some extra exterior paint in case we needed to do touch ups in the future, but they forgot to give us some extra paint for the front and back door. Some of the paint stuck to the weather stripping on both doors and peeled off, so I called Bianca and she sent the crew back with more paint to touch it up again, and this time they left the paint with us. Overall I was very pleased with the result of the project. The cost with the Angies List coupon was $1270 for the gutters, and $4300 for the exterior paint.

  • There's nothing like a professional trim carpenter to make a tricky job go really well! My new, mirrored and very heavy doors were hung beautifully into an existing opening, and it took a lot of talent and finesse to do it! Very heavy mirror was mathematically centered over a mantle using a French cleat. The rotted lintels in my garage were replaced with new, treated timber. This is the second job that Cutting Edge Trim has done for me. The first time, they did the baseboards throughout the entire house. They are absolutely beautiful and one of my favorite features of my house to this day. James and Randy also did really stunning crown molding in my kitchen and installed a chair rail. James very easy to work with and I feel totally comfortable having him around, and this is very important to me because I have homeschooled children around during the day. He is a serious Christian person and a perfectionist. I also noticed that his tools were top-of-the-line and neatly maintained, right down to the shop-vac he used to clean the work area well after he was done. It was totally worth it to hire the expertise of a trim carpenter, especially one as skilled as James Walker.

  • Scott was fantastic through the whole process. He came to my home and did a thorough, no pressure estimate which including all the parts of the project we discussed. He was up front and honest about the length of time the project would take to complete and he was very transparent along the entire time about progress etc which was very helpful. The end product is gorgeous and I am very pleased with the work Scott and his team did.

    He was great about pointing out some key details along the way. He asked about future plans for my renovation to be sure his work would flow well with subsequent furniture arrangements, carpet install etc... He was very thorough and conscientious.

  • Horrible, unprofessional and potentially illegal activity. 

    5/5, 2015, $4,352 Payment to Accede as deposit on bedroom remodel (interior wall removed), a 5-day project, work began on 5/14

    5/11, turnkey proposal was accepted $48k.  Deposit to Accede on entire deal of an additional $21,320.

    Payments to Accede total $25,672 -- all this was paid (and my checks cleared my bank) all before "any" work began, including bedroom.



    I failed to recognize early warning signs of trouble:

    Jess Marshall was insistent that payments to him be left under the front doormat in a plastic baggy (jn case of rain).  In hindsight, mailing a check to him, despite the mere 1-day mailing time to Dallas,  would have alerted me to Accede Construction's billing address, which is a PO Box.


    Thursday, 5/14--approximately 9am, work crew began interior bedroom wall removal.  As early as 5/15 the work began to slow roll. Friday, 5/15, 10:29am "Hi Jess.  Do you happen to have an ETA for the work crew today?". He advised crew was picking up 2x12s.

    Sunday, 5/17, Jess Marshall texts: "Hugo will be out tomorrow morning.  I'll be there at some point with the drywall/paint foreman.  I respond "sounds great, thanks"

    Monday, 5/18, texts exchanged with me reminding him my carpet installation follows the bedroom remodel and carpet installation is scheduled for the 25th.  Jess Marshall texts: "I reckon we will be there almost all week  I think the 25th should work.  I respond:  "Sounds good. Thanks".

    Tuesday, 5/19, 11:18am, I text:  "Jess....is your crew coming today?" (no response from Jess Marshall)

    Wednesday, 5/20, 9:45am, I text: "Jess..is today going to be another wasted day waiting for work crew that doesn't show?  Bedroom carpeting gets installed Tuesday, new bedroom furniture installed Wednesday.  Please let me know if you're not going to be able to do this job on time.  Thanks"

    Thursday 5/21, 8:39am, I text: "Jess...the one thing I needed assurance on was getting my dad's room done in a timely fashion.  He's 87 and sleeping in the living room.  I need to hold you to your commitment to have the completed Monday.  Weather should have no impact on an interior job.  Honestly, i don't know if you're laid up in a hospital somewhere or you flew the coop with the $25,672 I've paid.  I don't appreciate the silent treatment--a simple text would have allowed us to leave to run errands...instead we waited all day at the house for a work crew that never showed.  I need the room completed and I need to hear from you. I am prepared to terminate our relationship so please reach out.  

    Friday, 5/22,
     4:44am Jess Marshall texts:  "Yes sir.  My apologies  I will get this completed  I have not flown the coop.

    5:10am I respond in text: "Sounds good. Can we please wrap up this room.  I am postponing the fence and patio.  Could you please promptly return those funds.  Thank you in advance."

    5:12am Jess Marshall texts.."I will need some time.  I have already purchased the lumber  I will call you to discuss.

    5:16am  I text: "I'm sure those orders can be canceled, so please move ahead with that.   I appreciate it.  Call at your convenience.  Thanks"

    **the day is starting to end...and again, no word from Jess Marshall/Accede Construction, he's had $25,672 for 11 days, there are construction debris piles inside and outside and he's nowhere to be found.

    6:22PM I text:  "Jess, i apologize for sending this in text but your phone continues to go unanswered.  I'll need the bedroom completed by Monday close of business (5/25).  I'll need a check from you no later than Tuesday close of business (5/26).  Check amount $16,672.  From the $25,672.45 I've already paid.  That provides you with $9,000 on a quote of $7,350 for the bedroom.  Thanks"

    Saturday, 5/23, 5:51pm, Jess texts:  I'll call you in the morning".  6:01pm I text:  "We got to resolve this Jess.  I laid out an exit plan.  More than fair."  This is what my neighbors see (inserted pic of outside debris pile).  This is what my dad sees (inserted pic of inside debris pile).

    YOU GET THE GIST:  I went on about my dad having, an 87 yr old WWII vet having to spend his memorial day sleeping in the living room and having to use a gym bag. 

    Jess made numerous commitments and failed to follow thru....even as something as his text from the above on 5/23 6:04pm "I'll call you in the morning"...never happened.

    Very wary of this situation, i threatened police action for 'destruction of property'.   His crew showed up to work on Sunday (5/24) and again on Monday (5/25).  Monday was marked by a protest by his workers.  Literally, they staged a work stoppage inside my house.  This lasted approximately two hours (Jess arrived).  Their complaint and reason for the work stoppage was due to having not been paid by their employer in weeks (Jess Marshall / Accede Construction).

    Out of concern over this entire matter (the silent treatment although they've been paid $25k, workers claiming unfit work conditions and halting progress, etc. Some days showing up, somedays not.  A 5-day project now on it's 15th day--and the room is still a complete mess, debris piles inside and out .....by close of business Wednesday 5/27 ,it was necessary for me to ban them from returning.  

    Thursday, 5/28, Jess Marshall emails that he is trying to "free my material deposits from a sub contractor and 3 suppliers".  I responded same day with "I appreciate it."

    Saturday, 5/30, I follow up with an email to Jess Marshall...advising that "the premise for you retaining $9k (on a job he bid as $7350) was based on the premise of actually completing the job.  Unfortunately it was necessary to throw your workers out after prolonging a 5-day job to 14 days with no end in sight. And a two-hour work stoppage by your crew over your company's unfit working conditions... 

    Additional costs to be sought from Accede:  same mail (Sat 5/30) "in addition to an 87-year old and myself cleaning up your mess (which includes the abandonment by his work crew of wheel barrel with a broken axle) I am going to need from you the $16,672 *PLUS* the costs of a carpenter to complete the job.  I'll let you know that amount early next week.  You're not getting paid $9,000 to wreck my house....."

    Sunday 5/31. No response from Jess Marshall on the above.  I get quotes from carpenters to compete the project next week and fully intend to pass those costs along to Accede as he has been "overpaid" to complete a job he repeatedly failed to finish.

  • It went very well, John was our main contact and he was very helpful, informative, and worked to make sure we were happy with the deck. The workmen were polite and efficient. There were some minor delays and some odd hours, but John kept in touch and made sure we knew what was going on and ensured that the work moved forward. We are very happy with the completed deck and I would call on Dockmaster again for future construction work.

  • I Love my new kitchen and can not begin to say enough positive things about Juan Benitez with sales and Tony Fuller my project manager. Earlier in the year I had worked with another company to remodel my master bath and did not have a good experience so was very hesitant to start the remodel process again.  The quote and planning advice with Juan was very complete and he explained every detail and answered fully every question I had.  Tony  was beyond wonderful during the actual work process not only with professional, patient communication of events planned, but was always available to discuss any concerns or issues during the process and quick to respond to/change any detail that was a concern. Tony was here daily watching and reviewing the work done and the contractors that were used were very professional while in my home. They will tell you up front that they are not going to be the cheapest quote you get, but they will do quality work and  having gone that cheapest route and living with the aftermath nightmare of items being done wrong DFW Improved was worth every penny!

  • I thought I had left a review for BC Remodeling a long time ago, but apparently I forgot (so the cost and the date are estimated, as I don't remember exactly).
    Bill built a custom cabinet for us back in summer 2013.  We moved into a house with a built-in cabinet in the living room, but the space for the TV was really tall and was open all the way to the ground (was made for the older big screen TVs that had the huge speaker on the bottom and were designed to sit directly on the floor).   We had Bill build us a 2-door cabinet for the lower portion of that large open space, so that we could sit the tv on top of the cabinet, and put our equipment inside the cabinet.
    It turned out great.  After painting and adding hardware, it looks just like it was built-in to begin with.
