    Danny Did It
True Craftsman - Trustworthy - Good Communicator We met Danny through Angies list. He was prompt to our first meeting and immediately knew what we needed. His references were stellar. We were on the same page from beginning to end. Danny was patient with us when we had questions on the construction and picking out materials, backsplash, flooring, granite, paint, grout, faucets. We communicated via text or whatever was most convenient for both parties. We received a nice surprise on the cabinet install. My wife and I had an idea on how we wanted the cabinets to line out. To our surprise Danny had a better vision on the entry way from the garage. Danny installed an angled cabinet that gives a better view of the kitchen. It was a nice touch. Danny and his helper Trevor were the only two people in the house during this project. The only other time I saw someone else was the granite guy, and they were in and out in about 30 minutes. They installed canned lighting with a dimmer switch, which makes the kitchen pop. Danny reworked some electrical outlets and also installed a junction box where necessary. Danny installed the flooring and covered it up protecting the floor from scratches. They replaced three doors. They painted the two rooms and installed our appliances. There were few hiccups during the construction. In the end, Danny had us make a punch list to finalize the job. I'm sure I left something out. Overall a very positive experience with this company. My wife and I are very pleased with their work. Danny is a true craftsman. We highly recommend this company for the type of work listed above.

    Revitalize Bathrooms and Remodeling
We are very pleased with the work that this company did. The 3 men that came to our home and remodeled our bathrooms were very punctual, polite and did the work in a very timely manner. We would definitely recommend them!

    GCR Builders, LC
Scott came out to assess work and provided a fair estimate for both the price and the amount of time required. He even had a "Plan B" in case weather prevented completion of the work. Two months later (due to my schedule), the job was started and completed in less than 3 days. Eddie and Cecil were great. They performed all jobs efficiently and did very high quality work. They told me everything they did as they went. They even told me when they were going to lunch so that I could let out my dogs for a bit. They also cleaned up really well when they completed the job. Scott came by 2-3 times every day to make certain things were going according to plans and to discuss what would happen next. Excellent communication from GCR Builders - nothing was ever left to chance or guessing on my part. I truly could not have asked for a better experience or a better group of guys to do the jobs. If any other work needs to be done, GCR Builders will be my first call.

    Danny Did It
I contracted Danny and his side kick to redo the kitchen cabinets. I thought he would have a difficult time doing this project for the house was built in 1975 and had an old styling. Having cabinets over the bar hanging from the sealing and not being able to use all the space in the corner. Danny was not concerned about all these like I was. Once the supplies was here, he put the cabinets up just as I had wanted and even built a new pony wall, (cabinets over the bar). He did a wonderful job and left knowing I was happy and satisfied. Thank you Danny.

The owner, Scott Barker, did the walk-through, he was very professional and it was quite a bit more expensive than I thought but he explained what was involved and I understood.  He emailed a detailed (which I appreciated) contract and I signed electronically.  Then we set a date for later in the same week and Klay showed up at 8am right on time.  It took all day - 8am to about 5 and he came back next morning to finish.  Klay's planning was very thoughtful - current use and what we might do in the future; very professional.  He ran the electrical first from an existing outlet above the cabinets.  The old cabinet had to be cut out; they were custom so nothing was standard - that's why we bought the 18 in dishwasher.  Removal of the old cabinet and rebuilding took most of the time - it looks great and it looks like it was always there.  He replaced the styles, reinforced,  and enclosed both sides of the dishwasher almost to the top so as to allow access to the plug for any future needs. Kept the dust down with use of plastic sheeting while cutting out the old cabinet. Plumbing - Had to replace the old valve so as to eliminate a potential future leak and would have been finished the first day except for a small leak in one of the connections - also my mother and I were quite impressed with how clean Klay was, he cleaned out the pipes he had to remove in order to make the connections.  Made it look nice and neat with hoses - really phenomenal job.  Great attention to detail from the walk-through by Scott to the contract and Klay's planning and execution to the work.  Scott came by each day; bring materials, check on the job.  the whole experience was very professional, very above board, hard working (worked the whole time with a half hour lunch break, brought his own water) and I would recommend my family and friends to use this company.

GCR Builders is an excellent contractor, I would definitely recommend them and use them again.  They were professional, cleaned up every day, did exactly what they said they would do, and handled a wide variety of tasks.  Most importantly, owner Scott Barker would not accept anything less than our complete satisfaction.  He was there at the beginning of the 4-day job, stopped in periodically during the work to check in, and walked through the completed work with me to make sure I was happy with everything.  Outstanding!

Mr. Handyman of Alvin, Missouri City and Stafford
I haven't been able to locate  a trustworthy, fairly priced contractor/handyman in the Texas City area.
Seeing the $408 all day for electric/handyman work, I joined Angie's List to take advantage of this deal.  Signed up, signed into Angie's and filled out an information page of what I wanted done with pictures.  I was contacted within the next few days by Mr. Handyman.  They informed me that the charge was $88 and hour +$52.00 service call, not the $408 I saw on
On the scheduled day two men arrived, two hours late.
I had the parts here but, they needed to be exchanged.  I went to take them back and was told by the senior tech that he was standing around getting paid anyway, I should let him go get the new fixtures.  He was gone for 2 hours to the Lowe's that is 2 miles from my house.  At the end of the job I was informed that I would only be charged for one tech, $88 not $116, per hour because the 2nd tech was a trainee.
Duane, was the trainee and did the majority of the work himself.  He was professional, explained things, examined work to be done and explained what needed to be done.  He worked the entire time he was here and his work was excellent.
They arrived at 3:15, left 6:45.
The job was finished properly and looked good.
I then received a bill for $701.48.  The senior tech explained that the cost of the light fixtures was $288.00.  I told him I was there yesterday to buy the materials and knew that they were only $129.00 and asked to see the receipt.  He got the receipt and said that he had to charge and extra 40% for going to get the materials.  After a heated discussion he removed the charge.
The final bill was $661.63 for 4 hours labor, $52 service charge  (the rest was for supplies)  FOR TWO FLUORESCENT FIXTURE REPLACEMENTS AND DROPPED LINE (maybe 8') from attic to light switch.
Not the $408 I had been expecting from the listing on nor was the work performed by the company that had sent me via email when I filled out the online service request.
When I called I was told the difference in price was online, prepaid services only, not the online services.

    L & T Construction
Master Bath had to be gutted.  Once everything was removed they had to redo the sewer line, water lines and electrical to accommodate the new layout.  Layout the new bath and basically start from scratch.  When completed they installed a new walk-in shower, vanity with two sinks and linen closet, all made with quality materials.  The crew is very professional and are very knowledgeable.

    DE Flooring Granite Remodeling
There was an issue that kept them from keeping a scheduled appointment at 10 A.M. They did call and say they would be late between 3 & 4 PM. I called the store at 4 PM they returned the call about 5:30 PM and said they needed to reschedule for Monday at 7:30 AM and they did show up. They were supposed to bring the remnant, and we had to wait about a week. It was a bit of an inconvenience due to this issue. They delivered the remnant eventually. Sales went well, installation seemed to be a disappointment. There was a scratch on counter top after the installation, D.E. Flooring did offer to reimburse some of the cost, but I refused any reimbursement. I was satisfied with the cost of the material and installation I just wanted perfection of the counter top and to keep everything on schedule. I will use them again because I was pleased with Jonathan.

    Gulf Coast Flooring & Services
Gulf Coast Flooring has done 2 remodels for me.  I have a review for each.  This one is for the house on Camino Ct, Texas City.
This was one of the worst jobs I have ever seen.  The job was to be done by February 25, 2014, and on the invoice it said March 5, 2014.  On about April 6, I told them to get out.
This is a short list of the things that went wrong.
Over a period of about 2 months approximately 25 appointments were missed, mostly no shows, even though I had driven from Pearland to Texas City to meet them on nearly all the occasions (about 100 miles round trip).
They broke 6 water lines when they tore out the counters without disconnecting the supply lines. I had to repair them myself.
They used trash bags (mine) for water proofing for the showers. (Pictures)
They left saw marks in the granite counter in the bathroom.
    They broke a sink.
The Kitchen granite is broken (pictures).
The Kitchen counter is not even close to being level (pictures).
The back splash is perpendicular to the unlevel counter and it makes my cabinets look crooked (pictures).
My tile grout lines are crooked and spacing is inconsistent, from 1/8 inch to nearly ½ inch (pictures).
Many spacers are left in the grout (pictures).
They ran out of tile so they cut scraps and pieced them together in order to ?finish?.
The installers stole about $1000 worth of tools, and even came back to the job with my stolen tape measure on his belt (seriously?).
Shampoo boxes were not put in the shower walls as they were agreed to.
Granite window sills were not done because the ?claimed? the granite that they left next to the garage over the weekend was stolen. (Pictures)
My electric cooktop was left in the back yard for 3 days in the rain.  Still works, but no excuse for leaving a $500 cooktop out in the rain.
Transition pieces not glued down (Pictures).
Shower tile not level, grout lines do not match at the corners (Pictures).
Floors were not leveled before putting in the laminate (Pictures)
The first set of laminate was so bad I made them tear it all up and do it again.  I was told they used the wrong glue?..
Entry laminate was too tall, the front door would not open.  I had to cut it down and install a seal at my expense and time.
Shower tiles are not level and form a V in the back starting at about 1.25? at the bottom and spreading to about 2.5? at the top.
When I asked to have these things fixed I was called a ?weasel? by the owner.  Look at the pictures and let me know if you think this job is done.
