    Asics Plumbing Services
Jonathan and his team are always very responsive, quick to get out to us, personable, and fair with pricing and backing up their work.  He has installed a new hot water heater for us, changed out the fitting to our propane stove, repaired several broken pipes at our rental properties, installed new shower and tub fixtures in 2 bathrooms, and probably much more that I am forgetting.  He is kind, courteous, friendly, willing to explain, and wants his customers to be happy and satisfied.  We like him so much that we recommended him to the property management company we work with and they like him so much that they now use him for their plumbing needs too.  He travels from somewhere out our way (Taylor) all the way to downtown Austin so he's able to service areas like ours that normally seem to get left by the wayside.  If you are looking for a great plumber who is also a stand-up human being, call Asics Plumbing!

    Lone star carpet
The existing tile in our home was so attached to the foundation that NO ONE recommended we demo it.  They all said to put something over it if we wanted to change the look.  We are getting ready to put our house on the market in the spring and decided to put wood laminate, carpet and new tile down over the existing tile in a lot of the home.  We are so happy with the results!  Tony Rodriguez and his team did an awesome job.  Tony was our contact at the company, he brought flooring samples all the way out to our house in Taylor.  We had 3 other Angies List flooring companies come give estimates and Tony's was the best.  Plus, his main installer is also a handyman which is really what we needed here since there are some quirky speed bumps inherent to this house.  They were attentive to my questions, and my requests.  I won't lie, it was really dusty, but even one of the installers said to me that he feels bad for clients because he knows renovations can sometimes turn a house upside down for a little while. Just the simple acknowledgement made the dust seem less important.  They did their best to clean up after themselves every night, which I also appreciated.   They purposefully left plenty of extra tile and carpet remnants, and Tony is ordering us an extra box of laminate to have in case we have any flooring accidents, which is pretty great.  I highly recommend Lone Star Carpets for your next flooring project.

    Statewide Remodeling
During the sales pitch in our home, I perceived a red flag. I was informed that I, as the homeowner, was expected to go to a local hardware store and provide replacement wood and insulation should any rot be found during demolition. This seemed odd because I was paying $8240 to do the remodel. I contacted Statewide Remodeling and insisted that they provide the necessary material. I was promptly mailed a letter stating they would provide the necessary materials should any rot be found. When the installer arrived, he came with 2x4 lumber and a roll of fiberglass insulation. Demolition revealed damp lumber and insulation but no wood rot. After a problem with the drain installation that required the plumber to leave and retrieve a heavy duty electric hammer to break through the concrete, the 4 piece, vacuum formed, heavy polymer, faux tile remodel was completed in 3 days.
When asked who would get the permits from city hall, let them get whatever permits are required. They know what is needed, and you are paying for them as part of the remodel. We were asked to spray bleach on the wet lumber and let it soak overnight instead of the promised Kilz product I was assured would be used as part of the remodel during the sales pitch. The Microban anti-mold treatment built into the polymer and silicone sealant used during installation should keep scrubbing to a minimum provided the cleaning instructions are followed.

We have been putting off this renovation because of the cost and general disruption. The bathroom is on the 2nd floor of an older house. After seeing telltale evidence of water damage from the bathroom , it was time to act. We received several estimates which ranged from 8-12 thousand dollars. We had used Ken's services previously to renovate a garage game room several years ago. At that time, he did an excellent job. So we called Ken to give us an estimate. Ken spent a good amount of time giving us pointers and suggestions on how to save money on this project. His estimate was very fair, so we decided to use him. Ken was very punctual. He arrived on our doorstep at 8am sharp every morning. Even worked on a couple of Saturdays in order to stay on his promised completion schedule.Ken never left us in the dark as he kept us informed on the progress every step of the way. My concern with this older bathroom was the possibility of finding mold behind the walls. I didn't want disturbed mold floating all over the house. Ken made sure to totally encase the bathroom with plastic sheeting and zippered entryways. It reminded me of entering a "semiconductor clean room". He was extremely detail-oriented and didn't cut corners. As with any older home, surprises spring up. He was able to deal with those occurrences without any appreciable delay. We contracted separately with Lowes to attach the the glass shower doors. When the contracted installers came in, they balked and gave numerous excuses on why they could not attach the particular doors we bought to the shower enclosure. They suggested that we buy a more expensive ($900) set of glass doors. Since I was at work, my wife had to run the show. My wife was not happy with the Lowes installers and personally called Ken (this was on a Saturday) about what he would suggest. Now Ken could have simply offered some suggestions over the phone, but he didnt. He drove from his house (20 miles away) and personally confronted the installers on their unwillingness to attach doors. We decided, at that point, to send the installers back and contracted separately for Ken to install doors.( which we should have done in the first place). Ken came back on Monday morning and installed the doors perfectly. Ken takes his work very seriously. He commented to me that every project he completes is a reflection on him. We have absolutely no doubts about highly recommending Ken and his company , Construction By Foster, to anyone needing quality remodeling/renovation at a fair price.
