Health Insurance reviews in Sugar Land

  • Easy to find a doctor on their plan. Most doctors are covered under BCBS. Recently took kids for a yearly checkup which is now covered on a yearly basis prior to meeting deductible. Claim listed online as soon as they are finalized. They also send claim details in the mail.

  • Health Insurance is something you don't notice when it works well, only when there are problems. I haven't had any recent problems, and can't remember anything major in the last 2 years that we've had Cigna. When I went to the doctor and checked out they just charged me $30 copay and filed the insurance for me. Cigna itself has been great, but I'm not thrilled with their contractors: CVS Caremark for prescriptions and Compsych for mental health. You would think that CVS Caremark would work well with the CVS pharmacies, but when there's an issue they are totally separate companies that can't seem to communicate. Also, I take a medication CVS doesn't carry and it's annoying that I have to fill out papers every time I get a refill that I can get the medication from walgreens instead, and usually there have been problems getting it worked out right. Compsych seems to think it knows better than the doctor what treatment you need.
Other than the contractors Cigna has been satisfactory. We each get a fully paid physical every year. There are nurses on call if you have a question. The doctors have not seemed to have problems getting paid, eventually. Sometimes we get bills from the doctors saying the insurance hasn't paid, but wait a few weeks and it's taken care of. They are slow.

  • So far, so good. We have had some major health issues since this change in January and have not had any issues getting the coverage and payments as expected. My perception is that the cost is no worse and no better than most major medical providers at this coverage level.

  • Claims are paid in a timely manner, benefits have all seemed fair and reasonable so far. Very large provider network, so I was able to stay with my existing doctors. They offer an integrated FSA program which helps streamline things. Website and iPhone app work well.

  • Aetna was very good. There was very little out of pocket expense. Whatever the plan was covered a lot of stuff. It was very helpful. It didn't feel like I was paying money just to support the insurance company. I actually felt like I was getting something out of the money I was paying. Some of my prescriptions were free. A lot of different things are covered.
