Medical Specialist reviews in Stafford

I had a very pleasant overall experience with Seattle OB-Gyn.
+ You could almost always get an appointment on the date/time you needed it. Despite it being a practice where emergencies are quite common, appointments were generally on time without delay and if there was something urgent, they tried to contact you ahead of time to reschedule so that you are not waiting at the office.
+ All of the support staff (front & back desk, medical assistants, etc.) were always very professional. Not overly ingratiating but not rude or disinterested-- just the right combination of efficiency and skill.
+ I saw a few of the other doctors (outside of my primary) and they all seemed to be on the same page, they all respected each other's opinions and seemed to get along well. This is important, especially if you have some unexpected issues-- you don't want to feel tension among your doctors.
+ I like that they send you to the blood testing place to draw blood, the sonogram place to get ultrasounds, etc. rather than do everything at the office. All of the providers at the other locations specialized in their own fields and you felt like you were getting second opinions instead of just the same doctor doing the tests and reading and analyzing everything.  All of the other locations were also on Madison and easy to get to, but that might be a turn off for someone else who wants all the tests done in the same location.
+ Dr. Mckeever is a personable, knowledgeable, and patient doctor.  I was never rushed during any visit, she patiently answered all questions and understood the normal anxieties a patient might be experiencing at different moments. She also remembered personal details and asked about them on subsequent visits
+ Shawna (Dr. Mckeever's medical assistant) was also warm and wonderful.
    - You have to pay for parking.
    - They don't really have a midwife practice or natural birthing options.
    - I wish I had been given a better explanation of long term effects of having a c-section (not being able to get pregnant soon after, possibly preventing future natural births based on where you live later, possible limitation in number of children you can have total)

It is a good practice. They are outstanding. I am very happy by choice. They take both Medicare and HMO and they decide which the best deal is. It’s been clean, quiet and nice. I can get appointment on the same day if I need it. I basically get what I ask for and I don’t have to wait for weeks and weeks. The office is very nice. They do an excellent job of hiring their employees there. They are really trained. They hire good people and then they train them. I always get a file in the office section. The nurses are nice and the doctor is a nice guy. I have been very pleased with the level of service I have got. I have no plans to change them.

Availability: I called around 11 am and got an appointment to be seen at 1.30 pm with the provider of my choice (selected from reviews I read on Angie's list). This was MUCH better than my clinic in Seattle where it is impossible to get an unscheduled appointment, even for a sick child.
Office Environment: For a pediatrician's office, I expected a more child-friendly place. There was a television with cartoons on, but no toys, books, child sized chairs or tables, activity centers-- not even a fish tank to keep my 1.5 year old distracted. However, the building is beautiful and clean, and the waiting area had really nice chairs and was kept spic and span.
Punctuality: Relatively punctual-- I arrived 10 minutes before they told me to and didn't wait long to be seen.
Staff Friendliness: Nothing remarkable or unremarkable.
Bedside Manner/Communication/ Effectiveness of Treatment: The doctor (Dr. Anjana Dhingra) seemed very competent, efficient, and experienced. She asked several questions, reviewed our medical history and offered possibilities for treatment and prognosis. As a newcomer, she also explained how the 'on-call' system worked for the weekend and what we should do if we needed more help after hours.
Billing and Administration: I appreciate that they called my insurance provider ahead of time and got the copay details. My plan (also first time I was using this plan) requires me to pay 25% of the cost. This facility requires that all copays or fees be paid at time of service (they do not bill you for later payment). However, when I asked what the approximate cost would be BEFORE the visit, they were not able to tell me. Fortunately, I paid ~$25 which was not as high as I expected.
