    I use them currently and they did an upgrade for us on or around December 18th, 2016.  The upgrade was free but monthly is $54.99.  They offer monitoring with your cell phone with remote setting of alarm and setting of the smoke detectors.  The initial time that they came out to do the upgrade the technician wasn't qualified to do the smoke detectors, I had to call them to set it up and they should have called me.

    We've had our current home monitored by Smith Thompson for the last decade.  When we first moved in, we had them go through the home and verify all the contacts, add a keypad and set up a wireless communicator for reporting, install garage door contacts with a wireless transmitter and ever since, they have been monitoring our home.
    Today however, I called them to help us with our move to a new home and wanted them to basically do the same service as before but was greatly disappointed to learn they can't help us.  Apparently they don't do installations, they no longer secure garages and before they can even help us, they need to evaluate the home and determine if they're even interested in monitoring it.
    So basically I interpret their sales rep's stance that they will pick and choose who they will monitor and only monitor because thy have no installation services available.
    Here's the catch... if you go to their website, they talk about new installations, new systems, and even have a tab on their page for existing systems that do come with some limitations but never the less, they state they will have licensed technicians help with the installation.
    Suffice it to say, I'm EXTREMELY disappointed in Smith Thompson at this point and now have to search for a suitable company to help provide service.

    I hadn't seen the response from Smith Thompson when I started this update but wanted to add the following update:

    I called Smith Thompson back the next day and asked to speak to someone in billing because I needed to cancel our service.  I don't recall who I spoke with but she was very nice and I explained to her what happened and what I needed to do.  She suggested that I speak to someone else in the sales department and that if I still wanted to cancel I could so she forwarded me to someone in sales and I spoke to Josh.  Without going into any details of my previous call, I explained to Josh on the phone what I needed at our new home and that we needed to move out from our current home.  Josh was very professional and understood my needs very well and said he'd be happy to assist and that Smith Thompson will be able to meet my requirements for my new home and meet my hectic move schedule as well.  I was elated - and relieved because frankly, I'm not sure I can trust anyone else out there.

    I appreciate the response you provided, it reinforces basically what Josh told me and that again is a relief.  I stated to the first person I spoke to that I wasn't expecting anything for free and also told him that my 30-year career in IT started out installing residential and commercial security systems so I'm somewhat familiar with whats involved.  When he told me Smith Thompson couldn't help me, he didn't even bother to ask a manager or supervisor so I should have thought then to request to speak to someone else but didn't.

    I don't recall who I spoke with the first time but can say that Josh was outstanding and I'm grateful that I called back and got him.  Your billing/accounting department deserves credit too for saving a customer relationship and directing me to speak to someone else.  Thanks again, looking forward to our new home being secured by Smith Thompson!

    UPDATE July 13, 2015

    I wanted to provide a final update regarding our project and the support provided by Gene at Smith Thompson.  Gene was terrific, punctual, knowledgeable and did a great job.  Gene exceeded my expectations but was what I had hoped for from Smith Thompson based on past experiences.  I'm very pleased with the final outcome of our project and elated with the support received.  Thank you!!

    Smith Thompson could not have been better.  We had just purchased a new home and they came out and installed/replaced our existing security system (was not compatible) and installed new key pads.  They arrived on time, installed the equipment & thoroughly explained to my wife how to use the alarm system.  You have to pay quarterly, but you can't beat the monthly price.

    From start to finish, Front Point was the security company from heaven. Their consultants were knowledgeable, professional and helpful. The terrific wireless security system they provide is the ultimate in security and configurability, and it cannot be defeated by cutting a phone line or smashing a control panel. The system is controllable by panel, touchpad, keychain remote or smartphone or iPad/ smart tablet application. You can easily install the system yourself, and Front Point's helpful tech advisors are there if you need them at every step, and post installation. You may or may not have a system now, no matter. You owe it to yourself to go to and evaluate what you have or want against Front Point's bank vault system. Talk to an advisor. Get great service, save a boatload of money, configure your system now and easily change or add later and increase your security exponentially with a system that can't be beat by a burglar with a pair of scissors and a hammer. Other than buying a Mercedes Benz automobile ( from Park Place Motorcars in Dallas, another company of greatness) this is our best consumer experience in ten years. A plus, plus. We completely recommend Front Point. You may be interested to know that the reason we discovered Front Point was that we were considering updating a very large, very expensive fifty sensor wired system from a large national company , and adding a cell phone backup because our existing system does not function if the phone line is cut. While doing our research, we discovered that any idiot burglar could also defeat our system by smashing our panel with a hammer. So, get a pair of scissors, a hammer and a cell phone jammer and you can beat almost any system out there now, EXCEPT Front Point's. no matter what an intruder does, cell jammer, panel smash, phone line cut, break glass, smash sensors, etc. the Front Point system will still alarm..Security, economy, no hassle purchase and installation, great support and nearly infinite functionality-what's not to like? Highest recommendation!
