  • Meadowlawn and its employees/directors were wonderful when I most needed help.  They worked with me so that my costs, which I had to pay on my own, were very reasonable.  I did choose cremation but we also did a traditional funeral with friends and family coming to our church for that.  I am writing this review because I feel like they went above and beyond what I expected should happen.  This was the first time I had to deal with funeral arrangements and they helped me, worked with me, and even were very, very flexible in arranging the time for my mom's funeral.  They asked us for a picture of my mom because they said they wanted to surprise us with something.  At her funeral they presented us with that surprise and I will not spoil it for them, but suffice it to say, I was very touched by their wonderful surprise.  They also directed me to a flower shop that was also very reasonable with its prices.  Overall, I cannot say enough good things about this funeral home.

  • Mori is an absolute godsend. The lady that took care of my daughter stopped doing daycare, so when I had my little boy I had to start the search over for reliable daycare. I was vehement that I wanted in-home care, to mimic as closely as possible the experience he would have if I was a SAHM. I spent weeks going through the state's website of providers, checking out daycares and checking references. I did call Mori initially, but she was full. I never did find anyone I was in love with, but picked the best of my options (I thought). That was a total nightmare. For 3 weeks my little boy was there - the lady complained that he cried all day, was too much to handle etc which is the complete OPPOSITE of how he was at home. Every day I called at least once, sometimes twice, and *every single time* he would be screaming in the background and the daycare lady was obviously frustrated. After a little over a week, assuming he'd had enough time to adjust and this was truly an issue of daycare, I started my search all over again. THANK GOD my daughter's daycare (a larger daycare center, doesn't do infants) gave me the information for Mori and said that a lot of parents had used her and said fabulous things. So I checked the state website and called - SHE HAD AN OPENING! Life has never been so good - my baby boy loves her and it is completely obvious that Mori loves him. The bonding that didn't happen with the first day care happened very very quickly. He smiles when he sees her and from the first moment she held him during the interview" (he happened to be overtired and fussy), she treated him like her own and the warmth she exuded was obvious - he was quickly quiet and content. As embarrassing as it is to admit, she is even better with him than me in some ways. Somehow he goes to sleep at her house WITHOUT a paci :) At mine he needs it - go figure. She is extremely capable and I've never seen her "in a flap" - so warm and caring, it is really like an extended family. The complete opposite of my other experience, she says is such an easy, happy baby. I really think the difference is that she tends to him the way she would her own, keeping him close by instead of sitting him off a designated "baby area" and hoping he won't cry. Instead he is with her and the other kids - he loves watching the others kids - they keep him entertained and are very excited to see him when he arrives in the morning. Anyway, he loves it there, I love it there and I would never change. Your children are too precious to take a chance - I know I was a mess and in tears for weeks with the first childcare for him and will never go through that again. She is conveniently located to George Bush highway. If you want fabulous care for your child, look no further. It isn't cheap, but I wouldn't expect quality care, akin to what I would give to my own child, to be!
