    Brick Doctor

Best company we've hired to date. Quote was made months ago, but they stuck to the amount quoted. Showed up on time to do a quick, clean, and painless job. Would definitely hire them for any masonry work we need in the future.  The price was high, I'll admit.  But for that, we had a great crew who performed great work. Sometimes you actually get what you pay for.

    Corrective Masonry
John and his assistant ground out the badly deteriorated mortar on our brick mailbox and replaced the insert.  The work was done quickly and with great skill.  The end result is a huge improvement over the "before" condition.  Another company dismissed my suggestion to repair and simply wanted to rebuild the box - for about twice the cost.  And, John had a recommendation to prolong the life of the brickwork, as well, offered freely.  Very satisfied.

From start to finish they were on time, did exactly what was specified, very professional and Mike, the mason who performed the work, did a fantastic job!  Everyone was very friendly and cleaned everything up after themselves.

    Clear Creek Home Improvements
For years I wanted to remove the patio cover in the rear of the house and have a garden room built. I contacted several companies that specialized in garden rooms but all they wanted to do is stick what looked like half of a double wide trailer up to the house. Not what I wanted. I wanted this room to look as though it was part of the original floor plan. I called Kevin Gwyn because I did some research and found him on Angie's list. Kevin arrived on time asked what I wanted, began measuring, sketching, remeasuring then said he would come back in a day or so and give me a quote. I will be honest here and say the quote given for the job was very reasonable and  asked when  could he start. My wife and I are very pleased, the project seemed to flow very well.
After the room addition was completed I had some landscaping done in the front of the house that included flagstone and pave stone walls. I wanted a pergola built and contacted Kevin again for that and was done very well. Even the neighbors have complimented us on our selection of an Arizona pergola to highlight the landscaping.

    Mason Mender
He was very good and I really liked him.  He did a good job.  Everything was wonderful and fine.  He is a nice guy and easy to work with.  The company is good for any masonry repair.  I recommended him to her daughter because her teenage son run into the brick part of the house.  I will recommend him to anybody.

He did not have a truck or a shirt with a logo on it but as far as taking care of business he was very professional.

    Tout Construction Services
I contacted numerous contractors through Angie's list to repair/replace our brick mail box. In my search through Angie's List, I visited the website of Tout Construction Services and sent an inquiry via the Tout site. Within less than one hour, I received an email in return stating that Mr. Archie Tepfer, the masonry contractor for Tout Construction Services, would be in contact the following morning (as it was around 7:30 PM). A vehicle had apparently run into our mail box, severing the box into two pieces: one intact still affixed to the base/foundation, and another larger portion in one piece but lying on the ground. Most contractors wanted to completely rebuild the mail box from scratch even though the box was completely intact but in two pieces. Ultimately, I was looking for someone to think and quot;outside the boxand quot; and provide a solution instead of telling me what and quot;must be done.and quot; Some contractors suggested that they had to rebuild the mail box due to liability reasons or as a result of the fact that the larger portion of the box lying on the ground was too heavy to be lifted and placed on the piece attached to the base. Mr. Tepfer suggested that the larger piece could be cut into two and then the two sections placed on the base. He and his crew arrived when promised and completed the project in less than 45 minutes. In addition to putting the mail box back together, the masonry contractors leveled the base/foundation and cleaned up all excess mortar. Upon completion of their work, the mail box was completely level from all vantage points. I would highly recommend Tout Construction Services and Tepfer Masonry.

    Joe Guest Masonry
Looked beautiful when done; however, two (2) years later I am
still waiting for him to to acid wash and water seal the project.     I
fell for his story on needing to meet his payroll so paid him in full on
a Thursday with him promising he would return on Saturday to complete
the job.  MAJOR mistake on my part.  After numerous promises that
he will be here on such date and time, re-adjusting my schedule,
waiting and waiting with no courtesy call, I am truly frustrated.  I
have never heard of more excuses in my entire life put together...that
is, IF you can get him to return your call.  My patio has literally
fallen apart - very large stones are cracking, some are raised 1/4"  out
of the foundation, mortar (which was supposed to have an additive to
keep it from cracking away from the stones) is falling out in all areas,
a large portion of the patio has sunken into the ground (the area I
told him that I was having water problems with needed to be raised but
instead he lowered it, making it worse), etc.  The stress alone is bad
enough but now I have to deal with walking outside and stumbling on the
raised stones.  Initially I was impressed with his website and did not
know about Angie's List.  DO NOT USE THIS GUY.

    Joe Guest Masonry
When Joe was first contacted, we told him that our brick wall was falling. We were selling our house and the new buyer was using a VA loan. The VA inspector told us the wall had to be fixed and he needed paperwork saying the wall was safe by a licensed mason. Joe was called and said he could do this. Joe did the work and was payed. I was told, that he would send the paperwork to my email account. A week later I had still not received my paperwork. I could not reach Joe by phone, and if I did he would tell me that he would send it today, but he would not. When I did receive the paperwork a week and a half later, I gave it to the Va inspector. The Va inspector said the paperwork was no good because Joe was not licensed. I had to pay a structural engineer an additional 150.00 to inspect the wall and certify it. If you need your work to be certified then don't use Joe, but if not his work did look good at a fair price, and it passed the engineers inspection. I would suggest though that you get your receipt when you pay, don't agree to let him email it to you later.

    Brick & Stone Master
A representative came to the house and gave us a written estimate, Photos were provided to help us select the type of mailbox, and then samples of stone and brick were brought to the house for our selection. The mason visited our home and made an appointment to do the work.  He arrived on time, and completed the work as agreed.  Michael, the stone mason, was extremely meticulous and talented.  His work was beautiful and he cleaned the work site after he finished so well we couldn't tell that he had been there except for the beautiful, new mailbox.  We would recommend this company to anyone who wants a brick or stone mailbox installed or repaired.

I called Monty on Thursday & told him I had cracks on the south, east and west sides of the house as well as an expansion joint that needed to be replaced.  He came out the same day to evaluate the cracked bricks and mortar and prepare an estimate.  He called me on Sunday evening with an estimate of $750.
He started work the following Thursday. He was very prompt.   Each crack was zig zag and about four - five feet in length.  I was concerned about matching the old mortar because I have seen some mortar repairs that that were totally unmatched & looked very tacky.  He assured me that the new mortar would match - and it does.  I can't tell where the repairs were made.
After he completed the work, he notified me that I also had cracks on the north side.  I asked him to go ahead and replace the cracked bricks and mortar on that side as well.  When he was coming up to the door after he finished he noticed a loose brick and cracked mortar at the bottom edge of my front door.  He went ahead and repaired that as well.  His clean up was meticulous.  He closed the gates when he was finished (Very important so my dogs don't run away- Many workman are not as thoughtful).
I expected to pay more than the estimate he gave me because of the added work on the north side of the house and by the front door.  He said that was not necessary.
I have some more work that I want done and will have Monty do it.  He was very easy to work with - very courteous, explained what he was doing & what I could expect.
