DOTS REMODELING... DEPENDABLE ON TIME SERVICE
I generally wait several months to post a review, to be sure that I am as satisfied overtime as I am when the job is finished. DOTS did a wonderful job for me - demo-ing a decaying sunroom and cutting attic access as part of a more general upgrade of the HAVC system. DOTS was professional, punctual, easy to understand and worked well with the other contractors on the job. Would definitely use again.

    K2 Stairs
Clint and his team did a great job. Clint came out to provide as estimate when he said he would. He provided the estimate quickly. He was responsive to my calls. His crew showed up to do the job when he said they would. They did an excellent job - willing to talk through little issues, showed me pictures, made a last minute change, complete attention to details. They worked super hard and got the whole thing done in one day. Oh and Clint was about 2/3 the price of the other bid I got. Now I just need to hire the painters to finish the job and can't wait to see it completely finished. Super happy with K2's part of this redo. Definitely recommend.

    Platinum Painting and Gutters
The salesman showed up on time, was very punctual and promised a bid emailed by evening. I have not received the bid. I am getting bids at this point & looking for a company I can count on. If I can't even get the bid on a timely basis, I'd be a little worried about getting the job done on a timely basis.

    The Personal Touch Cont
Overall, it was a fiasco. I've dealt with many contractors over the years, having had a number of rental properties. I've used contractors both on and off of Angie's List. The is the first Angie's List contractor where I needed to get my money back. I should have taken the early warning signs as a sign of things to come. The contractor was initially scheduled for 9/19. He called me the weekend prior to say that he needed to move me to 9/20, with which I was fine. He then called me again on Sunday 9/18 to say he would now need to move his arrival to Friday 9/23. When he showed up on 9/23, before he even started, the contractor was doubtful as to whether he would be able to install the soffit, as he wondered whether there would be anything to attach it to. I assured him that I had replaced soffit on the house before, and that he should be fine. From the onset, he spent a great deal of time talking about what could go wrong rather than working. After I calmed him down about his worries, he said he would get started. I instructed the contractor to start in a corner, replacing two pieces of existing old soffit with two new six foot sections. Then if time, we would do a smaller section in a second corner. I stayed with him while he removed a piece of old soffit in the first corner to confirm he would be able to do the work. He did realize that there was something on which to affix the new soffit, as I had reassured him. I then left him to run to Home Depot and pick up some trim. While I was there, he called me to see if I could get some ant killer. For some reason, he abandoned the first corner and went ahead to the second corner, where he saw ants! When I returned, he had only installed one piece of soffit. I was stunned to see that he installed the wrong piece in the first corner! e Did not follow my instructions. He had also begun to pack up, saying he would came back the following Thursday (9/29) to complete his hours. (He had been there less than two hour at this juncture - this was a four hour deal). He said that he had an appointment with the eye doctor. As this juncture, we were still at square one, as if nothing had been done, since he installed the wrong piece in the first corner, which would need to be removed. So it was as if nothing had even happened. (He installed the piece of soffit that was sized for the second corner). I still don't know why he went ahead to the second corner (where he said he saw ants). He did tell me when I returned that he did not do anything for about an hour, as he was awaiting me to return with the ant killer for the second corner (which he was not even to be working on at that juncture). He told me that he would owe me two hours. More on this later. I thought he meant the two hours that he wasted getting nothing accomplished. As it turns out, I later found out that he was referring for the remaining two hours on the four hour deal. I thought I would give him the chance to get back on track, however, so I agreed to let him come back the following Thursday 9/29- though that was six days away. (He clearly had other jobs that were higher priorities). On Wednesday 9/28, he called to say that he would not longer be able to come on Thursday 9/29, as he had another job that was not hourly, which he needed to complete. He said that he would be there around Noon on 9/29 depending upon how the other job went to work the other two hours. (This is when I realized that I would be eating his mistake, not him i.e. that the two hours he said he would owed me were just the remaining two hours). Nonetheless, I was willing at that juncture to give him the chance to see if he would make things right. He then called about 1:15 PM on 9/29 to say that he would not be able to come out after all, but that he would come later in the day the next day, on Friday 9/30. He did not call or show up on 9/30. He also has not called as of late afternoon on 10/1 (now). I've had a few different contractors replace soffit, not only on my personal house, but also on some investment properties. I've never had any problems. They just seem to know what to do and get after. Though he claimed to now what he was doing on soffit repair, I'm now doubtful. Why all the delays, misdirection and consternation? At this juncture, it does not matter. He had his chance to make it right, and that chance is gone. I do not want him on my property again. As no useful work has been accomplished, and has he failed to follow through after giving me the round around for two weeks, I need this deal refunded ASAP, so I can hire someone else more confident, capable and reliable. Thank you.

DOTS REMODELING... DEPENDABLE ON TIME SERVICE
We got an estimate from this firm about a year ago - for different reasons we didn't get around to the work till this summer. He revise the original estimate with the additional work and it seemed reasonable. DOTS owner was there ever day as were his crews. They worked from approximately 7 am to about 3 pm, as temps in Texas are in the 90s and 100s in the mid to late afternoon. They are reliable; they are prompt; they stand by their estimate, and when possible we were able to talk to them about the progress. We found the owner to be honest and dependable; open and reliable. I recommend them highly.

    Decorating on a Shoe String
We are very pleased with all our Decorating On A Shoe String home remodels. We have contracted with Decorating On A Shoe String for remodel projects 3 times over the past 4 years. Our current project included updating two bathrooms.
Ginny Andrews'  teams of craftsmen included carpenters, a tile layer, a plumber, painters, and carpet layers. Each team worked with professionalism, often cleaning the workspace twice a day.
Ginny communicated with us frequently with calls and text, stopping by at least once a day to check on job progress.
We did have a few surprise issues arise in remodeling a 30 year old home. No one expected to discover that the drain plumbing of one bathtub had never been installed, or that a doorway was never connected to the foundation. Any issues that arose were handled quickly, efficiently, and to the satisfaction of all parties.
My husband and I were very confident in the integrity of the craftsmen. We often left for the afternoon, trusting them to lock up when they left, which they always did.
The completion of this project seniorized one bathroom and modernized another bathroom. We have enjoyed many positive complements on the results.

    Affordable Siding & Windows
Affordable Siding did an all around excellent job. I could tell when I first contracted with them that the owner was passionate about his work. And, he did exactly what he said he was going to do, and did it well. He removed the old wood siding that was not solid and replaced it with new wood. Then he put up the vinyl siding and aluminum trim with expertise. Very high quality work. He convinced me to spend an extra $75 to replace the front and rear exterior light fixtures because, as he said, putting up those old worn out lights will make his job look bad. They were very detail oriented in their work and the house looks fantastic. Thank you Affordable Siding!!

    Handyman & Remodeling Service Group
While the Big deal was purchased before Christmas, the work was not done until January as first the squirrels and one raccoon had to be caught and moved out of the attic. Then Ed Williamson was delayed in getting a crew to do it, so he came and did the work himself. He is a great guy to work with and takes his responsibilities seriously.

    Sun Painting Texas LLC
In general I felt Sun Painting was a great choice. The meeting for the estimate and conversation about what we needed was professional and informative. The work has been done for a month and so far there has been no peeling or flaking. The job was well done and has remained nice since its completion. The only issue I had was with scheduling. It was not the fault of the company that rain made them delay the job a week or so, but the first time they set up the appointment to come and start work the team did not show up on the expected day at the expected time. Since I had stayed home from work to meet them, and did not find out until an hour and half after they were scheduled to arrive that they would not be coming that day, it did create an inconvenience for me. The office lady told me when she called that the team had only communicated to her that they had not been able to finish the job they had over the weekend until just then. The office portion of the business does have very limited hours( 8 am-1 pm Monday- Friday) but I would wish that if you are going to have teams out working on the weekend, they would have a way to communicate if they are unable to finish and will not be able to start work on Monday at the next place.
However, overall, that scheduling hiccup did not change my impression that this was a quality business and I am happy with the work done and to have done business with them.
