Water Heater Repair And Installation reviews in Quinlan

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • As Steve Harris began doing the installation we thought it was strange that he vehemently objected to our having a disposal.  He said, "You are going to have nothing but problems with a disposal.  It is a mistake for you to have one as they are nothing but trouble."  We told him that had not been our experience with any kitchen disposals in the past.  Properly installed a good quality disposal is a great addition to any kitchen.  But he argued with us stating that, " You will regret doing this."

About one month after the installation, the pipes hooked up to the disposal and sink came apart causing water and light waste material to flood the cabinet and kitchen floor.
So Steve Harris was called and he begrudgingly came back.  Again we got a lecture about the evils of garbage disposals.  He said, "I warned you about these things...."  He acknowledged that the pipes he installed came apart and that was the cause of the leak.
As he was leaving he said, " You can expect this problem to keep happening."  In other words,   I told you so....you should have listened!  But what he failed to tell us is that he had purchased a cheap hook up kit for the job.  And that was the reason the pipes kept coming apart.
I own many properties including commercial, residential and rental.  I personally have overseen the reconstruction and remodeling of many kitchens.  In every one I have a garbage disposal and after decades of use they are still in perfect working order.  Each of these disposals was installed by a reputable, competent licensed plumber who stood behind his work.
Yesterday the pipes came apart again and again the cabinet under the sink flooded.  Water ran out of the cabinet onto the floor and made a big mess.  So we called Steve Harris again.  We asked for his help in getting the problem resolved once and for all.  But he said no.  He angrily stated, " Didn't I tell you that this would happen again?"
He said, " Can't you find somebody else to help you with that?  Maybe you could call a neighbor or a friend?  I'm just trying to save you some money....  I warned you not to install a garbage disposal !.....I told you to expect the same problem to happen again and again!"  He said he wasn't sure but he "might" come back in a few days; but that he would charge for the service call and labor.
We told him that we were greatly disappointed that he was not willing to help get the problem fixed. To that Steve Harris replied, " I have many customers who are very satisfied with my service; but guess you can't please all the people all the time.  Once in a while I run across a customer like you who can't be satisfied no matter what I do."  We continued mopping up the big mess and pulling everything out of the cabinet as we listened to Steve Harris tell us what unreasonable customers we are.
We told him that never before had we encountered continual maintenance problems with any garbage disposal installation.  He replied with an angry tone, "That's because those had steel pipes!"  He went on to say, "And you told me to use those cheap plastic pipes !"

This outburst was the first time the residents on the property had heard anything about cheap plastic pipes or that being the cause of the recurring flooding.  Owners who live there know nothing about plumbing pipes or what kind to use.  We all depended on this plumber to make those decisions and to use quality materials to avoid future problems.   We were not trying to cut costs.  We needed the job done right - the first time - and we were perfectly willing to pay the going rate.  At no time did Steve Harris discuss with the property owners what kind of pipes were to be used.  At no time did he offer a choice in what pipes to use.  He purchased a cheap kit for the installation with gaskets that did not hold.
We had to hire another plumber to come out and redo Steve Harris's shoddy work.  The additional and unexpected expense is worth it just to get this person out of our lives and off our property.  In my opinion he is not only incompetent but dishonest.  He will come up with the most bazaar excuses you have ever heard to keep from having to make good on work he has done.
Steve Harris's outrageous accusation that we told him to use cheap plastic pipes is false. If inferior pipes were used for this application he and he alone is responsible.  His passing the blame onto the customer to get out of correcting his substandard workmanship is reprehensible.
It is our hope that our personal experience with Steve Harris, Harris Plumbing in Terrell, TX will be of some benefit to other property owners.

  • Very professional and knowledgeable. They came in did the job and left cleaning up after themselves. They answered every question I had even in the middle of them installing the new thermostat and elements.  I had a question on another issue in the house and they took the time to look and discuss it with me. I will use them again.
