Transmission Service reviews in Pantego

  • Patience and Perserverance is the best way for me to describe the service I received. My 1993 Ford Explorer was quite the challenge for Bart and Diane and they were patient and continued to work through the challenges they faced with proffessionalism. I would recommend their services to anyone needing a dependable, trustworthy shop for the auto repair needs.

  • Awesome experience once again.  Shahzad and his company make the entire process stress free, even when I'm being impatient and grumpy.  I'm proud to say he's my mechanic.
Dealing with vehicle issues is a huge inconvenience and never fun. I love the fact that I can toss him the keys without a single worry! and I know what I'm talking about... I was 11 the first time I took apart and rebuilt an engine (dad helped a lot lol).
    Thanks again Shahzad!!

  • I have been entrusting my car care to Rich at Cornerstone Car Care for ten years now. Rich is very knowledgeable and honest: I trust his repair recommendations completely.
I brought my car to the dealer for a seat belt issue that was covered by warrantee. The dealer did a free inspection and recommended $3,000 worth of other repairs. After looking over the dealer’s report Rich felt that most of the recommended “repairs” were not needed. (Rich pointed out that an $800 repair was definitely not necessary because a technical bulletin put out by the car
manufacturer specifically said not to worry about the particular “symptom” cited by the dealer.)
Bottom line: I paid $475 for repairs which really were needed. I would have paid $885 if I had these same repairs done by the dealer. If I did everything the dealer wanted I would have been out $3,000.

  • This was my son's car.  His transmission was messing up, but he was still able to drive it.  Mid-Cities checked it out and decided it needed to be replaced.  They took their time (a good thing) and found a transmission they thought would be a good one, and replaced it.  When we picked the vehicle up, they said drive it  a while and if he had any trouble to bring it back.
He drove it a couple of days, but it was shifting too hard.  He called Mid-Cities and they said bring it back.  We took it back and they kept it for a couple of days.  They had an outside company come in and somehow "teach"  the computer on the car to communicate with the new transmission.  This was done at no additional charge to us.
We have had NO problems since then, and are very happy with Mid-Cities.

  • I had taken my 2001 Honda Accord to the dealership for a check engine light and had been experiencing jerky shifting between 1st and 2nd gears for about a month. The dealership very quickly informed me I would need to replace the entire transmission for $5200. I took it to Mid-Cities for a second opinion.
After Mid-Cities performed a diagnostic on the car, they said it was likely a sensor error due to old, burnt transmission fluid and particle build up in the system. They recommended flushing the system and replacing the fluid as a possible solution before more drastic measures (i.e. a new transmission) be taken. Turns out this was enough to eliminate the shifting jerkyness and clear the check engine light. Since the service I've driven my vehicle to Houston twice and Austin twice and have no worries of breaking down on the side of the highway. It went from a possible $5200 repair at the dealership for a new transmission to $400 at Mid-Cities for the diagnostic and transmission system flush.
They also recommended new spark plugs (which I had already planned to have done since they were overdue) and a new oil pan seal which made up the additional $600 spent.
I dropped my vehicle off on Monday near closing time (~4:30pm) and picked it up Thursday morning around 10:00am.
Overall, I am very satisfied with the service my vehicle received at Mid-Cities and their staff (especially Tam) were very helpful and courteous. I recommend them for major auto service needs such as transmission.

  • Car died on a Friday night. Checked Angie's list Saturday morning and called and talked to Fred. He gave me a rough idea of cost and I had AAA tow it in. It was repaired when promised, but cost more than the estimate due to the reported damage. Seems to be running fine now, plus there is a one year warranty. From previous experiences (all bad) with replacing transmissions, this was not a bad one. Who can be happy spending that much money on a 1999 auto, but it had to be done. All in all, I would recommend them.
