  • This is my first time to use Lawn Concepts and I'm very impressed so far.  Blake returned my call quickly and gave me a detailed explanation of billing.  Unlike the previous company I used, who does average billing and is confusing, Lawn Concepts only charges per service.  They came on a Friday and left me a detailed explanation of what was done, the condition of the lawn, what pests they found and recommendations.  My neighbor uses them and their lawn looks great!  They are also about $500 a year less than the previous company I used!  I will update this in a few months as I get further into business with them.

  •  Buyer beware!  this company does a great job with lawn care in terms of lawn treatment.  But if you go beyond that, you will be disappointed.  I used them for almost 3 years , at my rental house, for lawn treatment and mowing and then when I bought a house , I continued to use them for treatments only.  Was never impressed with the mowing guys, they hit the tree trunk multiple times with weed eater and always left a mess.  But the lawn treatments were good.   So when I bought my house, I spoke with Justin about purchasing trees.   I spent $1880 on 6 trees, which was $800 more than I had budgeted for, because supposedly there were no 15 gallon trees available.  In addition, even though I asked for the total including tax, Justin, the owner, told me the total was $1700, and I got a nasty suprise with an additional $180 added to my bill because he "forgot" to include the tax.   This is a recurring problem with him apparently as I found out when I read complaints with the BBB.  I started having issues with the trees after they were planted.  They initially didn't stake them even though I told them how windy it gets where I live.  they had to come out the next day as two of my trees were leaning over with one almost completely out of the ground.  then, my chinese pistach started wilting.  Now, when it was planted, there was standing water in the hole they dug.  I didn't know much about the tree and I inquired if that was a problem and they said no.  when it started looking like it was going to die, I researched it and realized it was not a water loving tree.   I emailed Justin and he said just to let the irrigation water it and not to water it anymore. It did get better thankfully.  Then, it was pointed out to me that the Bald Cypress they planted was too close to my septic , house and neighbors yard.  I talked to the septic company and they agreed.  I had also questioned this and was assured by the tree guy when he planted it that it would be fine and would help solve the water issues in my neighbors yard (he failed to mention this was because knees would grow into their yard).  So I asked Justin about it.  At that point he told me I was worrying too much and he has planted 500 trees this year and most complaints are from me.  Now, in my original review I mentioned this and that I had to move it myself because they wouldn't do it.  Becky (not sure her title,) claimed in a reply to my review that I was abusive to them and that's why they wouldn't move it.  I'm happy to show anyone that wants to see it my inquiry about this tree.  I don't know what her definition of abusive is but apparently she is a very sensitive young lady.  The final straw for me was when one of my cedar elms started doing poorly.  All the leaves started turning brown.  I sent an email asking if they thought I was watering too little or too much.  It had been doing well for almost two months and my other concern was disease.  Becky told me that Russ, the tree guy, looked at the pics and said "water it more"  so I watered it once more, and then the next day it rained.  The tree looked much worse after that.  So I emailed her with new pics and said, hey it looks worse after the rain.  She said she'd get Russ to come look at it.  Three days later and no russ.  Now the tree is completely brown, leaves crispy.  I send more pics, trying to save my $300 investment but not knowing what to do at this point.  No reply.  I voice disatisfaction and that I'm thinking about cancelling my lawn service, no reply.  I take it to Fossil Creek Tree Farm (GREAT guys, wish I had used them) and they took one look at the pics and asked me,1) what does your warranty say? (Xtreme is the only place I found that doesn't have a warranty with the trees) and 2) Why haven't they come to look at the tree?  So they told me it was being overwatered and gave me a form with a watering schedule and how to assess if it needed water (Justin does NOT give you anything to help you with this).  They also had me get all the dead leaves off, which of course left me with a bare tree.  It's starting to look better, a few little leaves coming back finally, thanks to their help.  I wanted to cancel but had to make sure they weren't going to charge me for something they "forgot " to charge me for (again, a common complaint with the BBB)   So I waited till I could talk to Jennifer in accounting (who is a gem).  I cancelled with her over the phone and she sent me a receipt showing a zero balance.  Curiously, Becky sent me an email about ten minutes later saying they were cancelling me because they thought it would be best.  What??? Huh??  Are we in high school?   It's almost like she or Justin wanted to have the last word or something.  Just bizarre.  As if they had a choice in the matter.  I don't know if she just didn't realize I had already cancelled or if she wanted to be able to say they cancelled me.  Just wierd.  So I wrote a review here before and they responded, saying I was abusive (huh?) , that I was accusatory (oh, sorry, yes, you were completely unhelpful with the trees that I paid you for) and sent multiple emails (yes I did, couldn't get their help and wanted them to see the declining health of the tree and since they were just too busy to come look at it I had no choice but to email pics) amd that THEY cancelled ME and they were sorry that hurt me.  (huh?  you did?  how immature is this? I didn't know this was a relationship?)   I didn't know how to respond on the website  and wrote another review and because I did, the other one was deleted so I had to rewrite this one.  I have filed a complaint with the BBB partly because I kept asking for a receipt for the trees and they wouldn't send it and to let people know about the horrible customer service.  There are several complaints about billing practices.  I encourage anyone to read them, if you saw their reply on here to me, or whatever they write to this one, you will see a common theme of blaming the customer, accusing the customer of being abusive or ugly to them, etc.  There's one on the BBB website there that's quite entertaining where Justin accuses a woman of not wanting to pay her taxes.  This is the treatment you will get if you use this company.  Justin does not want to hear complaints and only seems to care about his wallet.  Everyone that has a complaint seems to be "cancelled" from their service.   I feel partly to blame as when I was researching trees, I would ask Justin things and he would tell me not to look at the internet because he has all this experience and knows the area.  I am a very intelligent person and know better.  I should never have trusted someone as money hungry as Justin to tell me accurate information.  If you want to check out the BBB complaint site it's easily  found if you do a search for BBB Xtreme lawn care Azle TX.  I highly recommend Lawn Concepts instead, recently switched and already impressed!
