  • My wife and I stopped by on a Saturday around noon time to look at the washer and dryer sets they had advertised in a sales paper that we had called about the day before.  We drove over to the store and all of the employees were gathered up over at the sales desk.  Once we found the appliance section of the store on our own, we waited around for a few minutes to see if anybody would come greet us and offer to help.  For those unfamiliar with Aaron's, they offer just about any home furnishing imaginable and this day the employees seemed more concerned with a giant, party -sized stereo system located in the center of the store.  They where bumping the music so loud it was difficult to speak with my wife, not to mention it was extremely annoying and distracting.  I finally went over to sales desk and asked about the particular set we had saw advertised and already called about.  I spoke with a young employee named Mikayla.  After being told that she wasn't sure if they had that set, I asked did they have any about that price range.  She said she didn't know and then answered a phone call and got on the computer so at that point I wasn't sure what to do so I just waited on her to finish the phone call.  I inquired again about a washer and dryer set.  She had a very arrogant attitude towards us and acted like we were a burden for her to have to deal with.  I saw I wasn't getting very far with her so I turned to the other employees still camped out near the party sound system, who were by this time talking, or I should say yelling, about what they where going to do when they got off work..  I found out later that one of these "party animals" was the manager of the store.  I should have walked out then, but we where in desperate need of a washer and dryer and I had already shopped all the other places around.   Not to mention, I made it my personal mission to make Mikayla wait on me since she was bound and determined to do everything but that.
After much prying, she finally said they had a set in that price range in the back of the store but I couldn't  look at it because "customers aren't allowed in the back".  At this point, I asked if somebody could bring it out to me, at which time she said she would check, all the while still seeming very annoyed to have to deal with me.  After a couple more phone calls by Mikayla, and another wall-rattling, floor vibrating rap song on the sound system, she proceeded to show me the set on the computer screen.  Against my better judgement, I told her I would take it, paid my down payment for a Maytag matching set and asked where could I pull my truck to load it up.  She told me I was not allowed to do that since new customers must have their items delivered.  I thought that to be weird but figured at least I didn't have to lift on it any.  She told me they couldn't deliver it that day and it would be Tuesday afternoon before they could bring it since Monday was Labor Day and a holiday.  She said they would call me before they headed over to our residence to make sure we were home.  I said, "Okay, that will work. So I will see y'all then."
Tuesday rolled around and I made a phone call to my dear friend Mikayla early that morning to make sure they had our address right and see about what time I could expect them.  At this time I was told that it would now be Thursday and after informing her that she told me it would be Tuesday she more or less hung up on me.  I called and spoke with the manager, who I'm sure was wore out from her excellent weekend that I heard all about.  She apologized for the misunderstanding and I explained to her that we had been without a washer and dryer longer than I cared to remember and we would need it before Thursday.  Besides that, I had already paid for it.  She explained to me again about their policy for new customers and said she would see if her boss would let me pick it up personally and would give me a call.  We went on about our business Tuesday since we wouldn't be getting our washer and dryer.
Later that day, while we had been away from our phone's for a few minutes washing and hanging clothes outside the "old school" way, we came back in an noticed we both had missed calls.  We listened to our voice mails and it was our sweet friend Mikayla leaving us both very RUDE voice mails about how the delivery van had just left our house and because nobody would answer the door, " You WILL just have to wait till Thursday!"  I explained to her that we were outside and I'm sorry that we weren't around to receive something that wasn't even supposed to arrive that day.  The call that they said would be made to  make sure we were home was never made either.  They just showed up.
Thursday came around and they called and said they would be there anytime from 11 AM to 5 PM, which I told sweet Mikayla was too big of a range for me since we are busy people and have things to do besides wait around at home all day.  She was her typical rude, condescending self.  People that shop at Aaron's usually have credit issues which is why its a rent-to-own store and she comes across as acting like she is better than you are.
The delivery guys finally called around 4:30 PM and said they were on their way.  The store is less than 10 minutes away, but they rolled up a little after 6 PM.   There where 2 delivery guys and the first one that got out acted much like my friend Mikayla in that he didn't want to be here and was in a big hurry.  I realize they were probably behind schedule but he acted very unfriendly and banged up our walls moving the washer in.  Not to mention, the 2 of them acted like they the didn't like each other and bickered back and forth when one of them would tell the other what to do.  This made a very uncomfortable situation and I couldn't wait for them to leave.  One other thing, the washer and dryer they brought us was NOT a matching set and the dryer was a used one.  I called my friend Mikayla again to ask her what the deal was and in her typical sunny way she informed me that they did not have the dryer to match the washer, so I guess us being folks below her social class, we would just have to take whatever they brought us.  She said when they got a matching one in they would call us I never expect that call.
All in all, this was a very, very, unpleasant experience with a nationally-known furniture chain.  As an added bonus, we ran into our new friend Mikayla at a local store the day after they delivered our washer and dryer and all she had to say to was exhale loudly, roll her eyes, and look the other way.  I felt very disrespected at all stages of the game.  I know many times I should have just walked out and refused to do business with them, but I reached a certain point where I wanted to see how bad the service could get.  It went below and beyond anything I would have expected and I wouldn't let my dog do business with Aaron's.  I will go find furniture at the junkyard and wash my clothes the old school way again before I deal with them again.    DO NOT USE THEM!!
