  • The vent hood install went well. When he cut the countertop larger to fit the new cooktop, he damaged the countertop with his saw. When he was replacing the cabinet handle he broke off the head of the screw. He promised that he would come back to repair the countertop and fix the embedded part of the screw, so that I would have a handle again. I made multiple calls to him about coming to do this work and he never responded. I feel that it was because he wouldn't make any more money for these repairs, and so I am left with a new cooktop with a damaged countertop and a kitchen cabinet with no handle to open it.

  • Price was agreed upon beforehand. They were hours late, but called. The wife said the job would take several hours. Less than a half-hour into the job, they announced they were finished, and came to the door to collect $325. I paid because I agreed to the price, not realizing that it would take such a short amount of time. I feel that what was charged for the job was extremely excessive and I fault myself for relying on their Angie's list rating and by not getting more estimates from roofers. Be careful when hiring.

  • After telling me he had installed the exact same shower door more than once he took almost 3 hours to get it in. Explaining the instructions were confusing. The work was done in a newly remodeled guest bathroom that I do not use, so it wasn't until my first overnight guest used the shower and water poured under the door that it was discovered he had set the door too high for the rubber sweep to be effective. It appeared to me he had tried to lower the sweep which had an adhesive back. It came off completely when it got wet and the door was opened and closed. It also caught on screw heads that were installed on the wrong side of the door frame. The instructions advised  the frame that is mounted to side walls be cut for custom adjustment.
    He and a helper reset a exterior French door. I explained to him before that the door had not been proper alignment with the walls so both the exterior and interior molding did not fit flat on the wall surfaces. A previous attempt by the myself had corrected that problem, but the door had been shifted out of center in the process. It was really a two person job. I requested he move the door back to center and be sure it was aligned with the walls. I would install the molding myself.
    What I discovered after the job was done was a door that had not been centered as requested and was once again out of alignment with the walls. One side of the door would not open at all. I contacted him about this and his response was that he would fix the wall alignment at no cost but "the door is where it needs to be". I asked him what I suppose to do about the shortage of sheetrock and exterior siding on one side of the door. His response was "get wider boards" for the molding. When I pointed out the interior molding that matched the rest of the house only came in one width he reiterated "the door is where it needs to be". He then launched into condescending advise about what a beautiful day it  was and how I should get outside and enjoy it. I should go for a walk to relieve my stress...."  I wanted to jump through the phone and suck a blister on his head. I certainly never wanted to see him my home again, because his arrogance was infuriating.
    I ended up repairing the door tilt myself, added sheetrock and texture to one side of the interior. This also required installing new floor molding and chair rail on one side (which had to be special ordered I needed 21/2 feet, but had buy 20). I had to remove and cut down the molding on the other side before I could install the door molding. On the outside I had to get creative since I didn't want to add 3 inch wide pieces blocks of exterior siding along the door side. After some experimenting I was able to obtain a satisfactory result. The door still doesn't open on one side ,or very well on the other but I am going to live with it for now. I have spent more time and extra expense fixing everything he screwed up than he did screwing it up. His price would have been fair if the work was done properly. He did give a 10% senior citizen discount.
    When in my home he talked about all of his "little old lady clients". I guess I fall into that category since am a 64 year old lady. I do have home repair/carpentry skills and all of my wits about me however some projects require extra hands and strength. I have wondered since my experience with him how many "little old ladies" he has taken advantage of who didn't know the difference. The way he talked they seemed to be his customer base.
    Note: I did not want him in my home again so I did not have him back to fix the one thing he would not have charged me for. I just finished fixing the shower door so that it doesn't leak and I never contacted him about that. I waited this long to write a review, placating myself because I thought at least he did a good job on the shower door. When I found that wasn't the case after all I decided to speak out.  I don't like to give bad reviews to anyone when it effects their livelihood, but this experience was too over the top.

  • Paul arrived right on time and immediately hung the mirror.  Was done in less than 20 minutes!  Told us no charge since it was so quick.  He also looked at a couple of other issues that my Mother didn't know if she needed fixed.  Paul looked at our problem and gave us advice.
    Will keep his card for household maintenance issues.

  • Stuart handled a large remodeling project for us and did fantastic work.  First, he shows up on time every time. That's been a major issue for us in the past with other contractors.  He has a lot of builders knowledge which helped us avoid a lot of unnecessary costs.  If we ran into a problem, he always had a can do attitude and solved it quickly.  I would strongly recommend Stuart for any job.

  • I am a Realtor and needed a minor repair to a door at one of my listings.
    Called on Saturday to schedule for the next week.
    Steve said he could come on Saturday as he had a full schedule the following week.
    Explained what needed to be done and that I would need to pick up the hardware.
    Steve offered to purchase it on his way to the job as he knew exactly what he needed.
    Was very prompt, knew what he was doing and answered a couple other questions I had about repairs.
    I have also used him in my home and I have had the same experience.
    His prices are very fair and he is very dependable.

  • I had another company come out to do the addition on my house, but, was very disappointed with all of the work done. It was totally shoddy work. However, I was very happy with all of the work performed by Hill Country Home Pros. I called Ken and Larry and they were out to give me an estimate to complete the work (that had not been completed by the previous contractor), within 24 hours of my call. I was concerned that the timeframe would not be met as promised, but, it was finished perfectly and on time. I would highly recommend them and have already done so with a neighbor.

  • I called TriStar Roofing on 3/4/2014 to get an estimate on roof repair and they were here that same afternoon.  An inspection was done and required repairs discussed.  A price for repair was given and accepted by me. The repair was done on 3/6/2014.  All work was done exactly as agreed upon.

  • We were having our chimney cleaned and C&L Fireplace masters noticed some of our tiles were raised on our roof and had never seen anything like it. I asked him if he could refer a roofer.  He advised us he  didn't know anyone so I looked on Angie's List and found Tri-Star Roofing.   Got in touch with the owner Bill Cochrane who was on a job and made time to come out that afternoon.   He had never seen anything like it either, the staples had raised up causing the tiles to raise also.  Bill came out the next day and
    removed the raised tiles and reattached them with nails and was done  very quickly.  He was very professional and courteous.  We will definitely use Tri-Star Roofing in the future if we ever need a roofer.
