Home Security System reviews in Keller

Rep showed up and did an assessment of the home. Installed new system using existing sensor. Replaced both keypads and removed old security system components. Very quick and easy transaction of services.

The experience was great! They replaced all existing equipment at no cost. At the very last minute my old compay tried to match the new price I was about to get from Smith. But I choose Smith because of their honest and professionalism.

This company, despite internet reviews to the contrary, has been unable to provide service without multiple issues. The original salesman gave me erroneous information about billing, which he tried to change after the equipment was installed. This led to months of Republic Alarm being unable to apply my payments to my account properly. Lost checks, cashed checks not applied to my account ... the errors ran the gamut and included multiple calls to and from the office staff. My bank had to provide them with proof of payment to get my account corrected. Since they began using a third-party billing company, that problem was resolved, but it took several months of effort on my part. Today, I received a call from the monitoring company (which is also done by a third-party), asking me to call regarding signals that they received from my equipment. Upon calling them back, the call went to their answering service, since Republic Alarm employees don't come in until 10am. The answering company could find no record of my account, so they transferred me to the monitoring company. The monitoring company could find no record either. When a real Republic Alarm employee called me back, she told me that the message I got should have told me to call back during office hours. Their office hours are during the time when most people work! If I didn't have an over $700 investment in relatively new monitoring equipment, I would leave this company ASAP, and go somewhere that provides a better customer experience. I am not at all confident that my house is properly monitored. I do not recommend this company. Their business practices are inconsistent and again, do not inspire confidence for a very critical service - home security.

Although we live in a safe town, we wanted the piece of mind our old security provider couldn't offer. My tech-loving husband had been reviewing interactive home security systems, including Vivint.SmartHome. He noted that most of the bad reviews were from other areas and any recent ones near us had been pleasantly resolved to the customer's satisfaction. We were really impressed with the system and service, opting for (1) the doorbell camera, (2) keypad deadbolt that disarms the alarm when you unlock the front door, (3) Smart Thermostat and (4) moveable indoor camera ....all of which you can control from your cell phone/Apple Watch/iPad! It's intuitive, user-friendly (great for those of us slightly tech-averse) and we can grant our older children access to the system via the app on their cell phones. No more getting locked out of the house or being scared to stay home alone! PROS (1) Tamper-proof panel with software updating capability (2) Dedicated data means that the panel is not electricity dependent (3) Multiple types of sensors/alarm triggers (door, window, motion, camera, breaking glass) (4) Fast response time (5) Interactive from everywhere via the app (6) All items agreed upon with the rep were in writing Vivint.SmartHome Rep: Ryan Jooste 813.500.9332 * knowledgeable about not only Vivint's products, but competitors' products, as well * took the time to explain the capabilities of the system and services without being pushy, while inquiring about our needs to help us find the best combination of accessories * friendly, but sincere and honest - everything is in writing * gave us his personal cell phone number in case we had questions or needed anything Installation: * the fee and cost of the options selected were waived because Vivint was looking to increase their visibility in our area; we committed to a 3 year contract and signage in our yard * easy, efficient and clean * 2 techs installed, tested and educated our family about the system in 2 hours * the techs were courteous (even putting the milk back in my refrigerator, after he noticed I had left it out for him for his coffee!), patient with my 4 yr. old, and even gave us their direct contact information for any issues or questions CONS (?) * the price Compared to our old system $30/mo., it IS pricier, but we have also increased the security system's capabilities and our usage of it. We pay $80/mo. + local tax, which breaks out to $25 going to their call center and $55 for data for the dedicated line. * Now that more security systems are "smart", I would hope to be able to "bundle" this service with my others such as cell, internet....

The Installation Manager, Eric Pierce, is the most rude and unprofessional contractor I have ever encountered in my life. I have 20 years working experience - so that is saying something! The job they did for our office took 3+ days and they had to come back because it still wasn't right. They got it working but on top of attitude from the manager - I would go elsewhere!

Terrible. They have attempted on more than one service call to successfully repair the problem with the sensor and it has never worked properly. They do not directly employ their own Technicians and since they are contracted out it takes multiple phone calls to schedule service and several days to get a technician on site. When they finally do show up, they are never consistent in their approach and have always told me the one before them didn't do something correctly. There is no standardization to their service scheduling and delivery process. They also never seem to have the parts needed which causes further delay and having to go through the process all over again. Typically as much as another week or two. After having this terrible experience and with them not being able to correctly repair the problem, I elected to cancel my service. Then another nightmare began. Although the initial and subsequent service requests were a few months back, today was my last contact with them in their customer service department where I ultimately ended up settling with them and paying for a monitoring service I could not use because I have not been able to set my alarm due to the multiple false alarms triggered by the unresolved issue of the back door sensor. After over 6 years of being a loyal customer and more than fulfilling my initial contractual service term, all they seemed to care about was me paying the remaining months on my agreement which they told me had an automatic renewal clause in it. I had previously sent in the required 30 day signed cancellation notice which of course they magically never received. Anticipating this, I had kept a copy of my fax confirmation so I scanned and emailed that and the cancellation letter in again. I never received the call back they promised and had to call in again and ultimately pay almost $220 to settle my account. It's absolutely been the worst service I've ever experienced and would never recommend anyone use this company for alarm installation or monitoring. I also filed a review with the Better Business Bureau. I was never connected with a Supervisor and their standard answer on anyone getting back with you or anything else you might need with respect to your account is that it will take 2 to 3 days. Sad that their actions show they could care less about a long-standing customer of over 6 years, and in my opinion also a very distinct sign of their leadership in the Company. Nobody worth their salt would have allowed this to happen. Good Companies and good people do the right thing, stand behind their product, and truly value their customers. My personal experience with SAFE Security is they have absolutely none of these qualities and sadly, they don't seem to care.

I emailed Electrician on call and got an email response within an hour with a quote.  We set up an appointment for the next day.  I asked if the owner would be the one coming out as he has a few employees and I really wanted someone super experienced and he let me know that he could come out for the service call.  He gave a 2 hour window when he would arrive and he was there close to the beginning of the specified time.  He was very polite and personable, he listened to what the problem was and then got to work tracing where the problem was.  He even put on shoe covers before walking around the inside of the house.  He was able to find the problem very quickly due to his experience.  I think that someone who wasn't as experienced would have had more trouble due to the way our house is wired.  Total time from start to finish was about an hour, the bill was $110.00.  I had called around to other electricians and the quotes were more that double the price.  He explained exactly what had gone wrong and how he fixed it.  I hope to never have to need his services again, but if I did he's the one that I would call.

It worked out great. We've had the service for almost a year. They were running an initial installation special and they waived a couple of fees. It was good. We were out of town for vacation and when I pulled up to the house to disarm my system from my phone, I immediately received a phone call, within 30 seconds from them, asking if everything was okay. I guess they saw that it had been activated for awhile and then I deactivated it, so they called to check to see what was going on.

No problems whatsoever.  Technician arrived on time and proceeded to check out our existing system.  After the initial discussion with the technician, he proceeded to install the system and then provided instruction on how to operate it.  System works flawlessly and we couldn't be happier.  We believe Smith Thompson Home Security provided the best service for our money.
