    LACO Home Repair and Remodel
Mr. Conwell responded promptly to my request to assist us with the repair of second floor joists, and kept me up to date on when he could schedule the work, which was sooner than we originally expected. He completed the repair efficiently and with a high level of skill. Additionally, Mr. Conwell explained what needed to be repaired, why, and how he would address the repair at each stage of the process.

I hired Garydean Mirabal on 1/3/18,we signed a contract for 20,000$ to demolish 1 room and bath, level house, pour concrete frame new bedroom barn and carport, and roof entire house. I gave him 10,000$ up front. Dumpster was delivered and sat in driveway for 2weeks before he showed up. He worked 1 day a week for the demolition, filled dumpster(too small) with half of the trash and left the other half in my yard for 2 weeks until he finally got a guy with a trailer to haul it off. He worked off and on for the next 2.5 months leveling the house(sub standard, house still not level) usually 1 day a week, never a full 8 hour day. He texted me mon 4-23 to inform he wil not complete the job or refund any of the 10,000$. He has only completed 15% of the job and only has approx 50 man hours on the job and approximately 200$ in materials plus dumpster rent. I am in the process of taking legal action.

    Sun Painting Texas LLC
From the start Mark and Teddy were extremely friendly and professional, a real pleasure to deal with and talk to. Mark showed up and provided the estimate on schedule and it was a very competitively priced estimate compared with the second bid I received. I felt confident in my dealings with them and their reviews that they would do good work. The crew came out as scheduled and completed the job in about two days as expected. The crew was extremely friendly and I felt very comfortable working with them while they were here. Overall it was a very good experience and I'd like to give them an A but I gave Sun Painting a B for three reasons. #1 is the crew did not have a clean plan of the work that needed to be performed when they arrived. The office had merely texted a photograph of a computer screen with MS word document with the work instructions so I had to print the email from my printer so they would have the details of work to be performed. I was discouraged that they didn't have a better means of communication with the crew.#2 I was disappointed that Mark never came to our house to inspect the work at the conclusion of the job and I had to perform my own quality control with the crew. I'm not a painting expert but I found things they needed to touch up. I felt that Mark would have done a better job inspecting the work and instructing the crew to clean up. #3 The quality of the painting work, although good, does not seem great. It's been about 3 months since the work was done and I've noticed a few spots where the paint didn't hold up and a few more mess-ups than I did after my initial inspections. The carpentry still looks solid but I'm not an expert. Overall I am glad we went with Sun Painting and I would recommend them for good work at fair prices.

    Trident General Contracting Llc
Overall we were very pleased. The kitchen in particular is perfect, with custom cabinets and a beautiful granite countertop. We secured a complex home renovation bank loan for this work and TGC was wonderful about completing all the paperwork the bank demanded, which was considerable. I appreciated the detailed written estimates Paul provided, and his willingness to make not just one but 6 major changes to the job as we went along. I also appreciated that the supervisor for our job, David, was always prompt in responding to my texts, questions, and clarifications. The kitchen cabinets were custom-made for our space, and we were allowed to buy our own appliances and have them installed. The work did take a LOT longer than we expected -- almost 6 months-- and there were several times when nothing happened at all for two or three days in a row. That is probably my only real complaint. It also went well over budget, but that is not the fault of TGC, aside from perhaps vastly underestimating the plumbing cost on the original application. We discovered that the house had two separate foundations after the work began, and extra work was required to fix that. In the three months that we have been home again (we had to move out completely for this work) my only other real complaint is that the re-plastered ceilings are already cracking in the two places that they were cracking before. But I am not sure that is their fault, as this area of Dallas has a lot of movement. I would hire them again. My kitchen is soooooo nice now.

    Reyes Custom Finish
GREAT! I am VERY pleased with his work, his pricing, and his professionalism. He was quick to respond to my phone call, showed me his license and insurance without me having to even ask for it, and double checked with me whenever he had a question about the work in progress. The finished items are sturdy and well painted and I am very happy with his craftsmanship. He even fixed one little area over the sink that my last contractor left incomplete. He returned on the second day, and was flexible about the timing, to complete a second coat of paint and finish out the caulking. Everything is exactly as I wanted it to be!

    David Carpenter Interiors
Mr. Carpenter was recommended to us by a friend who was having a bathroom renovated at the time (his bathroom wasn't completed by Mr. Carpenter, by the way). He certainly talked a good game and seemed like a competent designer and contractor. What we didn't know at the time but he'd already mismanaged the funds for our friend's renovation and the subcontractor on that job had quit. He scrambled to find a new subcontractor for that job and for our job. Again, we were in the dark so we gave him more than $19,000 as a deposit. They did demo the kitchen in late July, 2015 and then nothing happened for months. We only saw Mr. Carpenter 2 more times. He came to visit us once at the end of August, 2015 to apologize profusely. Then he came again the first week in September, 2015 to pick paint colors and counter tops. We haven't seen him since. He'd already paid himself his $7000 "design fee" and so never bothered to come back. When his incompetent subcontractor continued to not show up to work on our kitchen, he'd text him and call him but that was about it. When we repeatedly asked Mr. Carpenter to check on the project or come see us, he'd lie and tell us he was out of town. Or feign a migraine. He stayed just involved enough in the project (by texting the subcontractor to tell him to work) to be "legally" not at fault. He dropped that pretense altogether in December. He blocked us on social media and blocked our phone numbers from ringing through to his phone. The subcontractor is almost as bad and we will write a separate report about him. He convinced us that Mr. Carpenter wasn't trustworthy (which he isn't) and we agreed to pay him directly. Mr. Carpenter agreed to that in November. That did NOT however excuse him from the task of designing and managing this project and our contract was still with him. He just didn't care. He had his money and was never coming back. As for his "design," the kitchen as it is now has none of his design work in it because again, he never came back. The flooring he picked couldn't be purchased because he never told us where to pick it up. He promised to "gift" us curtains but they never appeared. He promised to help us pick light fixtures but that didn't happen. So everything in the kitchen has been designed by me. Even though I have cancer, I also have to take over the management of the project. It's been 9 months of me kicking and screaming and trying to get the subcontractor Mr. Carpenter hired to do his job. And yet Mr. Carpenter actually has the audacity to believe he earned his $7000 fee. He also had the nerve to tell us "I'm just the designer and my job is done." And yet our contract was always with him. He even told us on numerous occasions "I'm the contractor." He just didn't care. And again, "his design" doesn't exist because he didn't design anything. He essentially paid himself $7000 for picking 2 paint colors and white counter tops. I've reached out to several REAL designers after this experience and they're dumbfounded by that. We now know that everything he told us is a lie. He has a personal Facebook account where he posts pictures that are implied to be his design work. The pictures are all the work of other designers. He told us he had filmed a pilot for HGTV. We now have confirmation that he was lying. He told us he'd been a designer for years and yet we discovered that as recently as last year, he was working for an assisted living facility. He's a fraud and a liar. He took our money and never looked back. The friend who recommended him? Mr. Carpenter stole his money too. His bathroom was completed through the charity of a local church. We believe Mr. Carpenter will do this over and over and again and so we intend to report him to the State Attorney General. The friend who recommended him plans to do the same. If a "designer" or "contractor" named David Carpenter ever tries to be involved in any project you are planning or are involved in, run away as quickly as possible. Don't make the same mistake we did. We've lost a great deal of money (and the use of a working kitchen for 9 months) by being foolish enough to believe a con artist. We admit our own stupidity and that we were naive. At least we can try to prevent it from happening to anyone else. We can back up everything in this review with text messages between us and voice recordings of Mr. Carpenter.

    Handyman & Remodeling Service Group
The repair work went smoothly.  The workman did great work and did it quickly.  The workman even helped fix a few code violations that I didn't know I had.  (Fire codes having changed somewhat since the early 1970's).  I highly recommend the service and will use this provider again in the future.

Mid Cities Renovations/Mid-Cities Paint & Drywall
They were there every day that they said they would be.  They were prompt.  They were very willing to do a few extras when asked without any questions.  They are trustworthy in my opinion--in fact we were not always there when they were there working.  I really have nothing negative to say about them at all.  I think they are first rate.

Phillips Painting Roofing, Gutters, Windows and Siding
Very well. Because of the weather, it was hard for them to get here to do the work because it rained almost every day. However, they worked with us and did the prep work one day and the painting a few days later when we had a dry break. The painters were very nice, professional, worked hard and did a great job! I would definitely recommend them to friends and neighbors.

    Handyman Matters of Lewisville
Super experience!  Bob the President was on time for our consult, I showed him what was needed, and within 4 hours I had an emailed estimate.  I had some questions and Jheri at the office answered them easily and got me all scheduled.
Bob the President and Bob the Handyman showed up right on time - Bob briefed Bob, they had some questions for me, and then Bob the Handyman got to work.  He was diligent, polite and hard-working.  Did a great job in 6 hours, got along with my 3 dogs, and the bill was exactly what was estimated.
I will definitely use them the next time I need a handyman!
