Very well, as always. My wife and I have been going to Dr. Karr for about 4 years now and couldn't be more pleased. After having had 45 years of dental work in 4 different cities and with 8 different dentists, I can truthfully say that Dr. Karr and his hygienist Monica are the best team I have had for all types of dental work. Highly skilled and very friendly.

Got in right away (I elected to wait until Monday.) He asked me where it hurt and went straight there, found I needed a root canal and started right away.  Two other dentists (who never got my business) gave me waaaay too much information and Huuuuuge quotes for ALL the work I ever would need for the restoration of ALL my mouth.  I just needed the immediate pain gone and could not finance a new face, basically.  Dr. Coston just went to the source of the big pain and said, "here's the fix!"  If you need a root canal, I would say, HANDS DOWN, go to him!  He is awesome at Novocaine shots!  I mean, really.  Everyone who is afraid of that, don't be.  I used to have to get that pill to have work done, but he's very concerned that you don't feel any more than the smallest.  When it might be bigger, he completely warns you ahead of time.  The whole procedure took at least four visits, but I left equipped to function after each one.  He knows what he's doing and doesn't cut corners. I found him through Angie's List, but keep in mind, he is not subscribed to Angie's List at all, and his office was surprised I found him that way!  All-in-all, I completely trust him (and that's not an easy thing to accomplish with me) to do excellent work.
Having said that, his only negative was actually also a positive.  I was in a bad, bad way when I finally found him.  So here's the kicker of the good AND the bad all in one fell swoop...he found that I needed a root canal and started work on it, immediately.  As in, open your mouth, in goes the surface numbing agent.  I had to ask him what he was fixin' to do, at which point he said, "give you a root canal."  My experience with the other dentists at that point had been, look at my teeth, give me a quote, make an appointment to come back.  So, when he went straight to it without telling me, it kind of took me by surprise, and I was a little upset at the lack of consultation.  This is considering the idea that I had signed a paper stating I would be responsible for paying everything even if insurance didn't cover it all.  I. have. a. budget.  Despite the fact that I had insurance, and I needed the work to be done (oh yes I did!) I STILL needed to know how much it was going to cost!  So while on one hand I am ever so grateful he did an excellent job right at the moment I couldn't handle any more pain, he still should have paused to communicate to me WHAT he was going to do, and how much I was committing myself to pay him!  Next, there was a cavity near the other canal that need a root canal but wasn't causing extreme pain that he AGAIN began working on without consulting me!  I had to stop him before he started because I. Have. A. Budget.  I asked  him for an alternative to root canal and he said to pull the tooth, which he does not do there.  He stopped there, gave me a consultation sheet for a preferred tooth-puller and bam!  Done.  I am glad he didn't argue with me about whether or not I could afford the root canal, as I know other dentist will. (I have had dentists call my home asking me to follow up after a quote.)
I will go back to him... I respect his skills!  Just, be aware.  If you have a budget for work beginning - like I reminded him, I have a budget and I signed an agreement to pay you.  Please don't do work without making sure I can follow through with my commitment to you.
    Cheers!

The visit went as well as can be expected.  They took there time getting things done and explained the results afterwards.
All in all a pleasant experience and will continue to use them.

We saw Dr. Church at Dr. Preece's office. We had been planning to find a pediatric dentist for our daughter, but didn't know where to turn. Angie's List turned us to Dr. Preece's office, but he wasn't available for an appointment when we needed one, so Dr. Church filled in. He checked our daughter's teeth, showed my husband how to floss her (and showed her too) and gave us recommendations for a toothbrush and proper toothpaste to use. She has a follow up appointment at the end of July and she can't wait!

I am terrified of going to the dentist.  As long as I have Dr. Karr and his staff that will never be a problem again.  I've seen him now over several visits to get all of my issues fixed.  The hygienist was wonderful with me and it took no time at all and my teeth were sparkling clean.  Next Dr. Karr met with me and we talked about a plan to get my mouth healthy again, along with cost and number of visits.  Christina and other staff are wonderful to work with, they are all wonderful.  In the past 3 months I've had all the work done and feel great about my mouth and smile.

It was a pleasant checkup. They were really down to earth with the kids; the hygienists put the kids at ease when they had the instruments going into the child's mouth. They explained what they were doing. They had different flavors of toothpaste and little TVs at each station to distract the kids. We waited less than 5 minutes to be seen.

I go every four months for cleaning. I think he is wonderful and I have been going to him for 10 years. He is very knowledgeable about teeth and he will tell me what to do from what not to do. He has got a lot of patient and whenever I need anything he will do it for me.   They are always giving me ideas on what to do. She has a hygienist named Michelle and she is so great. She talks to you while she is cleaning your teeth and that is so cool. I would tell a friend to make an appointment.

From first interaction with Dr. Sperbeck's staff to paying his bill at the end, everything was excellent.  My hygienist Jennifer was very gentle and I was impressed with Dr. Sperbeck's technology and bedside manner.  He took his time with me and has my best interests at heart particularly since I don't have dental insurance any more.  It is obvious everyone who works with Dr. Sperbeck has  his same caring, professional attitude.

I called to cancel an appointment on Friday afternoon and they close at 2 o?clock; I had an appointment on Tuesday and Monday was a holiday. And when I called them they said they were likely going to charge me $60, because I didn?t call them till Monday and I couldn?t get them on the phone on Friday. But apparently they did not charge me. And I had another situation in which I got there five minutes late and they didn?t take my appointment because they said the doctor has already started another procedure with someone else. I wasn?t too happy about that.

They do not use the latest technology, which is one day crowns. I wish I had researched this option before doing the crowns. I had to endure two rounds of temporaries for two on the lower teeth because the permanent crown that fused the two teeth was a mess, not even close to fitting so I had to wait twice as long because they had to send it back. When I finally got the permanent crown done, it had to be filed and filed to fit, and it felt bulky, not like the teeth it replaced. It cracked within two months, so it had to be redone, and since the upper also needed a crown, I did all three teeth so they would fit together. The temp crown fell out on the lower, while I was out of town, and after another dentist in Chicago put it in, it fell out again a week later. The final installation was OK, and so far the crowns seem to be fine--the new crown that replaced the one that broke is much better feeling in the spot, so I think the other one was just incompetently made and fitted. Because of my travel schedule, this process was incredibly time consuming. And I sometimes had to wait between 20-40 minutes after arriving on time.
Everyone was very polite and cordial, but I will do my dental work in the future elsewhere where service is all done in one day.
