    Alan Hizar did a fantastic job with the work I requested and didn't charge any extra to replace a shingle due to my membership. He was very knowledgeable, answered all of my questions regarding roof care and maintenance, and even made a few suggestions regarding the wood siding, gutters, and metal ventilation sheath on the underside of the roof overhang. Based on my experience with Alan, I would highly recommend this company for any storm-maintenance needs.

    I paid for a $99 "special" which was to include cleaning and servicing. It was stated that any repair parts would be extra, which I expected. The provider looked at the fireplace, told me what he thought was wrong with it, and gave me a phone number of another provider who he said could repair it "cheaper than I can." I asked him about cleaning (my unit is 10 years old and has never been serviced), and he said, "it doesn't need cleaning." Then he left. I called the number he left me, and that gentlemen told me their service call will be $103 plus parts. So basically, I paid $99 for nothing.

    I agreed for them to come out on a Saturday between 11am and 1pm. At 11:30am that Saturday, I got a call that they were on the way but unfortunately their supplier did not have the part, so they would have to reschedule. So we rescheduled for Friday between 3pm and 5pm. I received a call from them the day before Thursday to confirm the appointment. On Friday, I left work early to make sure that I would be home for the appointment. At 2:45pm, I received a call that because of the intermittent rain that they would have to reschedule. I told them I don't understand why they would need to reschedule for rain, when they shouldn't even need to be outside. They called the tech once more, and confirmed that they would need to reschedule. Both times that they rescheduled, the reason they gave me doesn't really sound right. They can't check for that their supplier didn't have the part they'll need for the job until right before the job was scheduled to be done? They make an excuse about needing to be on the roof to repair the back panel of the fire place? It seems pretty flimsy to me. I gave them two opportunities to get the job done, and they failed. So at this point I'm done with them.

    Horrible. I called and it went straight to vm. I did not leave a message as I moved on to other providers. About 15 minutes later I get a call from Steve (who I later found out to be the owner) saying he received a call from this number and what did I need. I had ask what company he was with. This person was obviously annoyed at the fact that he was on the phone with me. I told him I was trying to see what a new chimney cap might cost he said "A CHIMNEY CAP" in a very unpleasant tone. He tried to ask me another question when I told him I didn't appreciate his tone and would not need his services and ended the call. He called me back immediately as he didn't hear me. I repeated that I did not appreciate his tone and didn't need his services to which he called me a "Butthole". Very unprofessional, especially from the owner of the company.

    It was good.  He arrived on time, called first to give a time frame of arrival. He answered all my questions about what inspecting a chimney was all about, and he pointed out a cracked back panel that needs replacing.  He was very quick and efficient.  We will be calling them back to replace the back panel, and to do a yearly cleaning of the chimney from  here on out.

    I bought a Big Deal special for a sweeping/cleaning and inspection of my chimney.  It was no surprise that after his inspection, the technician suggested some long-overdue repairs to the exterior of the chimney, specifically resetting loose corner bricks, applying a crown coat to seal the top of chimney, and installing a cover cap.  He didn't pressure me at all, but when I saw the "before and after" photos he took, I knew I made the right decision OK the additional repairs.  Overall, a very good experience.

    Gave them my money 3 months ago and still my floors are not complete. They broke all my baseboards. Still waiting on my complete order on wood floors. It has been a nightmare. I really wish I had done my homework. Be very careful with these contractors. I had to call the police on the owner because he got very aggressive and pushed himself into my home. He was angry because i didn't want him to take the first shipment of laminate flooring until i had my complete correct order of wood floors installed. the reason i was asking him this was because every promise they made was a lie and i was afraid they were going to run off with my money. It took them almost a month to bring the correct shipment in and still it was not all the sq footage of wood flooring i had paid for. I am still waiting on about 400 sqft of flooring. And the workman ship has been horrible.

    I contacted Steve Durkin and told him I wanted to purchase a set of gas fireplace logs and have them installed.  He told me that they did not have a website or a showroom.  At first I was perplexed as to how I was going to view different log sets and pick out the one I wanted.  Steve told me that he would visit my home and bring catalogs with pictures so I could pick out the logs.  Old-fashioned service, I liked it!  Steve was punctual and explained things to me as I looked through the catalogs.  He even cautioned me away from some of the more expensive log sets saying that there was essentially no difference between them and the cheaper sets.  I liked that as well!  Finally we agreed on a set and he quoted me a price that included installation, sales tax, the works!
    He did say that they were extremely busy and it could be up to 3 weeks before he could do the installation, I agreed.  Not more than 4 or 5 days later Steve gave me a call and indicated that an appointment had canceled and he do my install that very day if I could meet him at the house by 5pm.  I was elated!  We would have our fireplace going in time for Thanksgiving!   Steve arrived right on time, laid down a large drop cloth to protect my fireplace and carpeting and went right to work.  I told him I also wanted my fire box repainted which he did at no extra charge.  He took great care to arrange the rocks and "embers" (fiberglass) just so in order to achieve the best look possible.  Then he took the time to arrange and re-arrange the logs until they were to my satisfaction.  He did a great job and was in and out in about 35 minutes!  I couldn't be more pleased with Steve's work and price.   I wouldn't hesitate to hire him again if I need any kind of service for my fireplace and I encourage you to do the same!

    Mr. Durkins came out to our house inspected our chimney.  We purchased the home 2 years ago and never had the chimney cleaned.  He thoroughly inspected our chimney and when he began to clean, he made sure that our furniture and carpet was protected.  He also removed an old gas line and assembled and connected a new gas unit that we purchased from one of the box stores.  Afterwards he explained how to use the gas fireplace because we have always used wood fireplaces and this was a new experience for us.  Steve Durkins  arrived on time and was very professional. His prices are very reasonable for the quality of service that he provides. I will use him in the future and recommend him to others.

    Steve called to let me know he was on his way, which is always appreciated and arrived on time.  He inspected all things that had to do with the fireplace, chimney, and flue.  Steve found the flue was very dirty and explained the door on the damper was not opening all the way.  He corrected the damper position.  He also explained what he found and made recommendations on things I might want to do in the future.  While he was doing his inspection, he found the floor of the brick insert under the grate had a hole so he patched with high heat concrete.  My wife is always telling me the fireplace does not put out as much heat as the old fireplace we had in another home and Steve suggested I place a stainless steel insert on the back wall to reflect heat back into the room.  He also said since I had a crack on the back wall of insert, this would reduce the heat on the back wall and keep the crack from getting any bigger.  NO HARD SELL at all.  He simply suggested it.  The way I figure, Happy wife, Happy life!  I would definitely use Durkin's again and would recommend their services to anyone needing anything that has to do with a fireplace.
