"I've been using him for three years. He was covered under my medical plan. Overall, he's very good. He's very nice. His office is very efficient." There's not a lot of waiting. They take you in when you are scheduled. He performs the routine eye exam to make sure everything is okay. I am very happy with them.

"I go to him yearly. I have used him for years. He is one of my few doctors that hasn’t retired yet. I have been pleased with his service. Most of the people" at the front desk are rude, but I like everybody else in the office. I always make my appointment when I'm there, so it's never been a problem.

Ophthalmology

Quite literally meaning "the science of the eyes." ophthalmology studies the way the eye works. Ophthalmologists care for this incredibly complex and delicate part of the body and the factors that affect its health.

A growing number of people are buying prescription glasses online. Some advice — and cautions —if you plan to browse frames and lenses sans the store.

Optometrists and ophthalmologists use a phoropter like the one shown above to determine prescriptions for glasses and contact lenses. By dilating the eyes, doctors can also find rare diseases. (Photo by Jeremy Deal)

Blurred or lost vision may be signs of a potential eye ailment, but some rare diseases that can cause blindness can only be detected with an examination.

Absolutely you have rights to your own medical records. You may have to put it in writing and go through the offices records department. Call and ask to speak with the records department and ask their protocol.

we've been going there for a couple of months. Scheduling is easy, it's close by our home, and they have a good chemistry. We haven't had any insurance issues.

After extensive testing by my optometrist, he recommended an ophthalmologist at
Georgetown Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
. The ophthalmologist did only one test (sliding an erasure down a chalk board; asking when I could see it). He ignored the battery of tests the optometrist had sent him. I had the surgery in Topeka at their main office. I woke up during the surgery while he was still cauterizing blood
Georgetown Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
(very painful), but this was the anesthetists fault not the surgeons, although my complaints, at the time, were ignored by both. After the swelling had gone down my vision was the same as before. My eye lids drooped the same and my field of vision had not improved. At my 6 week re-check the surgeon burst into the room proclaiming how much better my eyes looked (as if he could remember after 6 weeks). In conclusion, the experience was painful and of no value to improving my eyesight. |As a side note: his breath was horrific. Very un-professional for someone whose face will be inches from his patients.

Wait time after check-in was brief (five minutes if that). The technician doing all the initial measures was very thorough and especially pleasant (
Georgetown Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
). Equipment they use is amazing though, since this was my first eye check, I don't know if they are the current industry standards. The doctor was also thorough and had a good bedside manner. Only thing I didn't care for: Dr
Georgetown Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
seemed pretty determined to convince me use contacts instead of the low power reading glasses I already own (store boughts) even to the point of putting one in my eye then sending me to have a discussion re: financing with his assistant. This seemed like overkill and rather presumptuous. The assistant (
Georgetown Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
) appeared neutral re: use of reading glasses vs. contacts and didn't pressure me. I appreciated that considerably.
don't misunderstand these comments, however, my experience was excellent. From check-in to check-out it was a pleasure and I felt I was getting a complete and accurate assessment. I highly recommend them. Just don't be persuaded to choose any corrective measures you don't wish to use.

I contacted
Georgetown Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
after seeing their ads that
Georgetown Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
was now available for treating both astigmatism and farsightedness, which I had. I was given a prompt appointment, within a day or two, and found the office to be very comfortable, professional and nicely appointed. There is a 3- to 5-minute video repeating constantly on a big screen TV, touting the effectiveness of the surgery for people like me, with 3-4 glowing testimonials, including how they could see perfectly right after the surgery. The staff members were all very pleasant, and gave every indication that I was a perfect candidate. However, I had the choice of having mid- to distance vision and needing reading glasses, or having mono-vision (where one eye sees distance and one eye sees close up). I made it very clear that I did not want mono-vision, because I had tried it when I wore contacts, and didn’t like it at all. I was perfectly okay with needing reading glasses for reading and computer work, but they gave every indication that I could look forward to being able to drive, enjoy the outdoors, and see the stars again without glasses.
The surgery went very quickly, but wasn’t totally painless: I have small eyes, and the implement they use to keep your eye stationary during the surgery is “one-size-fits-all,” so it felt like they were ripping my eye open to make it fit. Thankfully, that was over quickly, and the entire 10 minutes of the procedure went quickly. I was not able to see perfectly right after the surgery, as some of the people in video had gushed, but I expected it to take time to heal.
I followed their post-op instructions to the letter, but my vision never stabilized. I experienced an infection in one of my eyes, and I strongly suspect that may have prevented my eye from healing correctly. Before the surgery, I could drive without glasses. Today, I have an effective field of vision of about 4-10 feet, depending on the time of day and how many times I blink. I cannot read road signs until I am almost right up on them, and I have to use several different pairs of reading glasses, depending upon whether I am reading a book, at my computer, or just the time of day.
To say that I am frustrated and disappointed is a gross understatement. Because I could not use my computer for extended periods of time after the surgery, I had to drop one of my college classes several weeks later, and my grade in my other class suffered because I was not able to complete my online coursework on time. My work also suffered, because my difficulty in seeing my computer monitor caused me to miss a lot of errors. Although I was adamant that I did not want mono-vision, that's what I have. One eye can focus 2-5 feet, the other sees 10-25 feet clearly).
Several check-up appointments over the next 6 months confirmed that my eyes are completely healed, and what I “see” is what I get. I paid the extra amount for the lifetime guarantee that includes touch-up surgeries, but frankly, I am not willing to gamble on them operating on my eyes again. Now, I am out over $2,000, have worse vision than before, and will have to go back to wearing prescription glasses again.
I'm sure that my age (over 50) is probably a factor, although their sales pitch indicated that wouldn't be a problem at all. But if you are over 50, I would not take a gamble on this procedure, or this organization. You only get one set of eyes...

I knew immediately that I trusted him and his office staff with my visual testing and diagnosis. Dr
Georgetown Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
performed cataract surgery on my left eye and he and his office professionals were excellent in explaining the procedure, what to expect and detailed instructions for pre-op and post-op. The surgery was totally successful in restoring vision to my eye and I will be having the right eye operated on in a week. The office environment is very professional and state of the art equipment. I would highly recommend Dr

Overall it's a nice experience but I think I can do better on pricing by shopping around. My wife and I both got new glasses and the cost was close to $500 for each of us. I detest that they don't post prices of the lenses anywhere. Only the frames have prices.

Dr. Tybor looked at my eye, got me a prescription, and had me come back the next day. Dr.
Georgetown Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
examined me that day, and sent me to a specialist. It ended up being a pretty serious condition, but they took great care of me. Both Drs. Tybor and
Georgetown Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
were super friendly and professional. Even the residents were both awesome to work with. And this comes from someone that is massively anxious about things being near my eye. I'm happy to make them my regular eye doctors now.
