Forrest (what an apt name!) and his crew are top-notch. They showed up early every day and worked hard all day. Forrest LOVES what he does and is always happy to take you on a little tour, explaining the process, progress and materials. He works just as hard as his crew; no dropping in periodically to check on things...he's there. And his crew are artists with the stone; they really have an eye for what they do. We wanted something rustic, like what Mother Nature would do if she was in the business of building walls, and they delivered. Pricey? Yes, but worth every penny. We will enjoy our yard for many years to come. What a treat to find an honest businessman who won't skimp on quality. Highly, highly recommend!!!

The entire process was very smooth. James is very responsive. He explained the entire process to me, did the work he said he was going to do and there were no surprises. I hired him later to redo the roof, gutters and fence on a rent home I own as well.

Everything went well. Patio was taken down and the debris set out for pick up. Freezer was moved to where I needed it. Storage shed door was repaired. It needed something to keep it from leaning down to the left so an adjustable tension cable was placed on the door and weather stripping around the edges of the door

The house was a total gut job. Manuel and his guys demoed the house quickly, framed out all the walls, vaulted the ceilings, and did an amazing job on a new front porch addition. He was able to do everything I asked, including several changes I made in the design half way through.  I will definitely use him again on my next project.

Jess would not pay his workers so they would not come to work for several days or weeks. Jess would have different workers every week He will promise payment to have them work and when they refused to work without pay he would fire them and say they were not employees they were subcontractors. Jess has an account with pay pals and through them, he would send payment notification of funds to the workers, however, he would cancel the transaction payment, therefore, funds never were received This documentation is also available.

Jess wanted money up front for the supplies and for payment for the workers he was given $14, 280.00 on November 12, 2015, here it is March 2016, and none of the projects are completed.  I got water damaged inside of the interior of the house that needs to be fixed. Walls have brown water stains, baseboards are warped, kitchen cabinets are peeling and warped. I had to be cleaning after the workers because Jess would not come and supervised the worker.  I have paid Jess $34,498.00 and none of the projects are completed. Pictures and videos are available.

Jess did not take out a city permit for the remodeling construction work so the city came several times to drop off notices and speak with me to advise me that I needed a permit for the construction. The inspector or code enforcement on two occasions told the workers that they could not continue working until the permit was obtained.  Several notices were put on my gate.   I immediately messaged Jess he came and told the worker to continue working because he had taken out the permit. No paperwork of the permit was seen or found by the city.  The workers were scared to continue working as well as myself.  I went to the city to inquire that day because I did not want any problems with the city.  I was advised that no permit was taken out via the internet. I was given paperwork for individuals and contractors permits with instructions of what I needed to do to obtain the permit.   After begging Jess to go and get the permit he finally did using the individual form instead of the contractors form which was a lesser fee.

When the roof got started Jess again did not get a permit I was left several notices I texted Jess each time to advise and all he would say is that "I will get it tomorrow" After several notices and phone messages from the city to get the roof permit I went to the city and pay for the permit myself. I texted Jess to advise that I had gotten the permit because I wanted the notices and phone messages from the city to stop. I texted Jess pictures of all the city notices and the phone messages that were left on my house phone but this did not give him any urgency to take out the permit.

I had to spend money on supplies such as tarps to cover the roof. Paint to paint the porch, roof black paper to cover the roof, door lock to put on the garage door to keep the door from opening and letting water inside.  Towels, and blankets to put on the floor to either protect or soak up the water.  Buckets to put under leakage.  Gone behind the workers and clean up their mess I still have a lot of trash on my lawn that has to be thrown away. My grass is shot I have no grass on the lawn.

This experience has been a nightmare for me. I have lost my hard earned money.  I have lost rental income because I have not been able to rent this house. I stay home do not work out of my home.  I wanted to fix my house to rent to allow me to finish my degree but my dreams are shot. When I hired Jess I had a friend be present we were both surprised that Jess had asked me how much money I had in the bank. I refused to tell him. I did not feel his question was appropriate.

How I wish I could reverse time and avoided myself this nightmare. I cannot recommend Jess I do not want anybody else to suffer what I have.  I have pictures, videos, city notes, employees statements, text messages that can be used to inform the public of my bad experience.  Jess wants to change the original contract and I will not do it I expect him to honor the original contract terms and specifications conditions under what he was hired to do.  After putting in a complaint on Angie's List Jess wants me to give him a list of what needs to be done however I am not knowledgeable in the construction field that is why I hired him. So I would have to get an expert opinion.

    Resolution

I would like for all my three projects to be completed correctly professionally and done immediately.  I have an exposed roof that needs protection I have no roof on my house.  Fix all my interior damages and for all employees or subcontractors to be paid by Jess for their labor so that they can finish with all of my remodeling projects.    I want the original contract to be honored. When all the work has been completed to my satisfaction as per the original contract at that time Jess Marshall will be paid.

I gave them $14,000 up front for supplies. He told me he wouldn't need anything else until he finished. When he started the concrete, he said he needed $7,000 to pay his crew. I gave him that. He asked for another $7,000 to pay his crew when he started framing. Again, he asked for another $7,000 when he started the roof. The employees now refuse to come and complete the job....because he never paid them. He started this project around Thanksgiving, and now it's the end of March and nothing is completed. There is no roof, which is causing leaks and lots of damage to my walls. I've had nothing but problems and issues every single day because of him. I don't know what else to do, because none of his employees are willing to do any work. What he's done is fraud, and I do not recommend him at all.

Mike and his crew did a phenomenal job for us renovating part of my mother's house this spring when my husband and I first moved into the house after she died.
He ripped up carpet in three bedrooms, laid laminate flooring in 2K sf of the house (and did a FANTASTIC job), painted several rooms, laid some vinyl tile in one bath and utility room and did a better job than I could have ever wished for.
Prompt, VERY communicative, listens well to your concerns and is always willing to talk over ideas and directions. We just couldn't be happier with them. We're so happy, in fact, we've got a second remodel scheduled to start next week that will encompass some outdoor projects, a master bath overhaul and a kitchen remodel that includes custom cabinets.
If you're looking for a dependable, honest, hardworking and very talented contractor, contact Mike. He will handle large and small jobs, and you will be so glad you called him.

    Decathlon Construction
Unlike another company that gave me a quote, Jerry noticed and discussed a lot of details with us, such as the location and function of our existing drainage system and replacing the white trim around an exterior window with stained cedar to match the new structure. Their bid was very competitive, and was broken down by line item. Jerry showed us hundreds of pictures to help us choose the design of our new patio and cover. The workers were very courteous, and readily agreed when I asked them to make a few minor changes. Both city inspectors who came out were very impressed with the quality of the work done on the patio cover. Every question I had was quickly answered via e-mail from Jerry's wife, April. She sent me regular e-mails letting me know what would be happening and when. I am convinced that Decathlon is the best company in the area for patio work, and would not hesitate to recommend them or use them again in the future.

    DFW Improved
I called DFW Improved prepared to be disappointed based on 3 previous attempts at getting quotes from other companies for the work we wanted to do in our backyard (either no response or just not the right response from them). I made an appointment with Jason and he came out to speak to us just a day or two later. He was very professional, extremely helpful and was right on time. They provided a quote within the week, which was wonderful based on my previous experiences the 3 months prior fighting to get responses from other companies. We chose Dfw Improved for our project, and within two or three weeks they started the job. They were right on time every day and the foreman, Damon, and the crews were the best! Everyone was wonderful and professional, and most importantly, they did great work. They also did a fantastic job cleaning everything up ( except they left some extremely heavy stones in the driveway that we asked them to move and we were scratching our heads as to how we were supposed to get them out of there - my husband figured it out and took care of it). Overall, it was a very pleasant experience. One of the crew members even whistled while he worked, which made me smile. He obviously enjoys his work! We have many other projects in the future and I will be making another appointment with them when we are ready to continue our home improvements. Thank you, Jason, Damon and crews at DFW Improved!

    Decathlon Construction
We had a patio built onto my previous home 8
years ago. It was a nightmare. I thought I did my homework but things did not
go well. It was a very stressful experience with a less than expected outcome.
Forward 8 years. We have a new home in need of
    a patio.
We contacted several builders. The prices
varied wildly for the same build.
We chose Decathlon Construction as they were
very cost competitive, nice people, and their web site clearly shows they know
    what they are doing.
    Decathlon Construction just completed our
patio. They exceeded our expectations all the way through this project.
These projects can be stressful or great fun
based on by the contractors and subcontractors.
Our patio was so much fun for us. Everyone at
Decathlon Construction including their subcontractors were a pleasure to work
    with.
It was so nice when we got into the details of
the build we never heard, that costs extra. It was also amazing when we ran
into small issues, how aggressively they corrected them. Again, exceeding our
    expectations.
We were so impressed with the detail quality
    of your sub's work.
Their carpenters are truly engineers and
artists. We were amazed with their sound construction and the detail they did
on their finishing work. The time they spent on the trim was amazing. No one
fell asleep in geometry class from this group!
The concrete slab also exceeded our
expectations. The slab they built was exactly what we discussed. Every detail
    was included.
The post wraps were nothing short of a work of
art. It was great working with someone open to our ideas and who could combine
them into something reasonable. He created something special and unique for us.
Even the painting was done very well. I am
sort of cursed with the ability to notice the finest details and imperfections.
    Everything was perfect.
What also sets Decathlon Construction apart
from their competition is their communication and customer support.
I have spent a lot of time raving about their
technical skills and quality. Equally important is how they (April) was there
along the way offering status updates and comfort.
IMO, skilled tradesmen seldom know how to run
a business. Most have great technical skills but flounder when it comes to
running a company of their own. They typically fail when it comes to customer
interaction and scheduling. Decathlon Construction is clearly different and is
    heads above the competition.
They made the process of building our patio a
wonderful experience and most importantly, they built us a patio, which
    exceeded our expectations.
I remember my first email to April. She said,
We will not disappoint you. That was quite an understatement.
    If
you do not consider using Decathlon Construction for your patio, you are really
    making a mistake.
