Home Builder reviews in Galveston

Our first hint that things were not right should have been when the foundation was not poured according to the architect/engineers plans. It needed to be re-poured in sections and still no plumbing or electrical was in-place. From there on things were done in a haphazard manner not following plans, not building to code or to widely acceptable building standards from installation of siding, installation of windows and doors, installation of required bracing, anchors, strong walls and portals so necessary in a hurricane prone site. We have invested over $400,000 and can't even pass a structural inspection. The building of our dream home has become a "nightmare"

The designer was totally incompetent he couldnt do anything I met with him and asked for . But said it would take 2 weeks . Over 3 weeks later he came back with something totally off the wall . Nothing we discussed it was like he was on drugs or not even listening. I then drew the plan I asked him for and he kept making off the wall changes to my drawing. He eliminated the front door made dangerous steps inside the house couldnt do the outside stairs I drew and kept changing and leaving out windows adding half walls etc etc It was like I was dealing with a person who had never done design. Three months later I was fed up with his incompetence and didnt recognize my plans so I took what he had and had to pay someone else to do it so I could turn it into the city for a permit. Next was their so-called construction manager . He wanted to get a manual j with out having the specs required to get one ( like window and door information ) . I asked for window bids to meet code . He said there was a delay in getting bids. So I called their suppliers and got some bids the same day . 2 months later he came back with bids that didnt even meet code and wanted to get the manual j again. Again I said no and that these bids wont work . He never personally came up with bids that meet code except to send me ones I got three months earlier. I was fed up with his lies and found my own trades even tho thats what I paid them for . He couldnt get some bids ones he did were from a thousand dollars more than I could find to almost double or were totally unusable ( it was like they didnt know how to bid ) I paid 20,000 for incompetence and lies This company is totally worthless Avoid this company Nothing but a scam

I gave their designer an architects plan I had purchased and was told their guy could reduce the footage to match the neighborhood better . He was totally incapable of that plus kept making changes for no reason . I drew up what I needed as he was incapable . I finally paid someone else to do his job . Then trades and material their guy told me their were delays getting bids so I called their suppliers and got some bids the same day . It was two months before they came back with one and it didn't even pass code. I finally gave up on them ever doing their job and built my house myself using trades and suppliers I found for thousands less . I paid them 20,000 dollars and got nothing in return AVOID THIS COMPANY

Ceiling eventually started sagging. Two independent contractors confirmed they removed load bearing walls. Did not accept responsibility of removing walls even after presenting evidence. No engineering skills. Not a stand-up guy.

Mr. Spicer was one of three contractors we consulted. His bid was the highest, but he had the most experience and made us feel the most at ease.
His crew did a great job from start to finish. They were on time every morning, cleaned up at the end of the day and performed quality work.  This was not an easy project, but they made it look like a piece of cake.  The attention to detail was obvious in every step of the project. During demolation, they kept a very neat pile of debris and there was no dust or trash left at the end of each day. We noticed that they numbered each piece of siding they removed from our home to ensure they placed it exactly where it was originally. When it would rain the past, we would have a significant amount of water in our garage where the porch met the wall. Now it is dry as a bone and beautiful! Great, quality work. It was the most expensive, but we certainly got what we paid for, and we love it!

They are very expensive but you get what you get. They are after high quality and materials. They are very customer-focused and very experienced. He has people and sub-contractors and they have used them for a long time. My house was built in 2006 and the house next door to me has the same primers. They are very long standing and ethical. And if there is some difference or changes you want, they are very amenable to that.

They finished in about 6 weeks. They very quickly, they professional, and a really good service. They kept me up to date every little step. They also showed me what I needed to do to work the stuff in my home.

Terrible.  This man is a thief.  He doesn't do any work at all.  He shows up to measure.  Then writes up a  contract, has you sign it, asks for all the money up front (says he is broke, in trouble with the IRS can't make his house payment, doesn't know what he is going to do, and really needs the work..he will continue to say how he really needs the work and could you make the job worth his while, and asks if you will add more to the repairs or remodeling so he can make a little more...says it will really be helping him out.)  After he asked me to write him a check for the full amount, he suddenly says he notices he made some mistakes on the contract and he will have to rewrite it.  He stated he had to go home to get another form.  He never came back.  He went straight to my bank and cashed the check.  After he did not show up for 2 weeks I was able to reach him on the phone.  He lied and said he would be positively start work in 4 days but he  first had to do his taxes.  Of course he did not show up so I called him again and told him I wanted a refund.  He told me "F* and he had decided after much thought over the last few weeks that the screen doors I wanted installed could not be done because he could not figure out how to make them look good"  He  said he would return my money for that part of the contract but then he went on to say "I have decided I am going to sue you for even more money.  I know the law.  You can not break a contract."  He bragged that he had changed the wording of the contract that I signed and he had taken off with to allow him to start and finish on the dates that he will decide.  He acted as if this was not a job that he was hired to do, but a contract that allowed him to extort money from homeowners and that he knew a law that would allow him to do this.
I will be taking this con artist to court.  He should spend time in jail ..what he does is nothing more than out and out theft.

He previously did excellent remodelling/painting work for us in Jamaica Beach, Galveston so we contacted him for an estimate and projection of duration for these apartment units. He came in under budget and all work was completed in a timely fashion. He is a professional with great attention to detail and had innovative ideas for improvement above & beyond our requests. We were particularly pleased when. on his own, he chose to rearrange the placement of the toilet to provide easier access to it, with more legroom.

He acted as the head contractor, and at our request, (in order to expedite the job), he subcontracted certain parts of the job, and was diligent in finding the right people at an economical price for us

He is a perfectionist and the quality of his work was excellent.
