    Castro's Tree Services
The owner (Jeff) responded very promptly to my online request for services. He very quickly came out to the property to look at the overgrowth and then contacted me to discuss what all I wanted accomplished. The amount of work that needed to be done was significant and I was very pleased with his bid. His crew showed up exactly as scheduled on the day and time requested. I walked the property with the crew forman to review what I was wanting to done as his crew unloaded. They immediately set to work and it was very obvious that they worked well together as a team. I was very pleased to see a crew of five on the project. When I returned home that evening I found everything done as requested. The limbs and debris was as neatly stacked as possible considering the massive volume on the parkway. They had done an outstanding job of cleaning up the rest of the property and anything cut was raked up and stacked up for pickup. If your looking for one of the big name companies that shows up in huge shiny trucks with a chipper in tow, this is not your company. They do not have a chipper and your choice is to have the limbs stacked for pickup by the city or pay them to haul it away. If your looking for a good company that provides quality work at a very reasonable price then you will be very happy with Castro Tree Service.

    TOM'S LAWN SERVICE
I've had them for years. It is $35 to cut and trim. They have a lot of extras stuck on. They like to add on, like they add on a premium for the gas fee. The last time it was $10 and they charge it every time they come. The premium varies depending on the price of gas. The work they do is excellent. I have asked them to trim the shrubs on the foundation and it got get pretty expensive. To trim one little tree was $85 so I'll never get them again for that. It didn't take that much time to do the job. I've used them for some many years so I don't know what others are charging. They do both residential and commercial. They killed some grass in the beginning because they cut it too close. They are pretty responsive. They answer all the messages twice a week. They come pretty much the same time every week.

    Double Eagle Sprinkler
Old sprinkler system at our new home needed assessment as to whether it was working. Double Eagle was prompt in coming for assessment. The man showed me how the main water out by the street was stuck in a closed position and the whole thing would have to be replaced. The next day the workers came out to give the estimate. I can't remember the total they quoted just to get the water flowing again, but it was in the thousands. We decided to call a different company who came out and had no trouble assessing that the water was already turned on. Either Double Eagle was incompetent or they were trying to scam us.

Their service was good but we did not renew our contract with them.

We just felt like they weren't doing anything for our lawn but just mowing it. We talked to them many, many times about how to improve the lawn and they would try various things. And it just never worked!

Plus, they were more expensive than others that we looked at. So we thought they would be really super duper. Plus they had Angie's List high ratings. I told them I understand that they have this really high rating but that doesn't mean that everyone is just going to love them. And apparently we are not one of those people. He wrote back really nicely and told me he agreed with my assessment of the relationship and said they are just not for everybody. For us it just didn't work out, that's all.

They came out weekly and they did a super job however our lawn never really looked all that good.

We have a contract with them, so they come out regularly. They are more expensive than other companies, but because of their right ups with Angie's List and they have awards every year being top rated and the reviews are always so good, we went with them just to try them. We are in Duncanville, so it is very difficult to find people on Angie's List that would come out here. There really are no local people on Angie's List currently, and I think that is the consumer's fault. These people are from Arlington and they were willing to come out here. Our lawn always looks well trimmed, edged and neat. We just had some issues with the fact that it is not greening up the way we would like it to, but he said we had to give it at least a year to come back, so it has not yet but it has not started growing yet either this year. We just got an estimate from them for filling in some dips in the lawn for a tree and it was just so outrageously high. So, I just wrote them yesterday and told them we need you to come down in that price, because that is just more money than this property should have spent on it. I sort of threatened them a little bit and said we went with you because of Angie's List and your high reputation. Leaning on that reputation, we would really like you to look at the cost again. I have not heard back from them yet. So, it is complicated. They are pricey, but we are hoping that it would be worth it. I think I can get the same service for less. Regarding my overall experience with them, I would give them a "B" because their service as far as the contract goes where the men come out and do the work is topnotch. The guys are good, they do their stuff and like I said the place always looks terrific but then when it comes to actually dealing with the higher ups about what we want to see happening then that becomes kind of a roundabout thing so that is why I would give them a "B." Their price is high and I have not felt yet that it was worth it. They are always very professional.

    Austin Gardens Landscape
This was a "Big Deal" purchase -$125 for 4 hours of landscaping/lawncare valued at $250.  This was a very popular offer and was sold out so they were overwhelmed with more than 30 commitments.  I bought it in early November hoping to get the work done before Thanksgiving but it ended up being the Saturday after.  They scheduled the jobs based on locations and apparently my house was pretty far away from where they usually prefer to work so that was the soonest it could be done.  I tried to call them but never got a live person so ended up just emailing. I never actually got to speak with Jay until Saturday around 1pm when he called to say they would be there in an hour.  Jay showed up with 2 guys.  I had asked them to mow, weedeat, trim an ivy covered retaining wall and pick up leaves in our front yard.  Our front yard is on 3 levels and they only mowed one.  They did trim the ivy but there was no leaf pick-up.  Overall they probably did about $125 worth of work but no where near $250 worth.  They might be fine if you set-up a regular service but I could not recommend them for another "Big Deal".

    Andys Sprinkler Drainage & Lighting
Andy reviewed the system previously installed. He recommended added the sprinkle head to one area and added one more zone. He also rearranged the sprinkle heads and changed sprinkle heads for optimal effectiveness of coverage of both flower bed and lawn area, The charge was reasonable

He's awesome, I never had any trouble with him and he did a very good job. They have a weekly service and they come to the house. I've used this guy for probably 10 months or so, his name is Gabino Jimenez. He does everything from like trimming stuff for me and lawn work for weekly services and then if I need something done like a tree chopped down or something, he just does it. I have a small yard at this house and my other house it was more but I think it was like about $35 a week, it's pretty reasonable.

    SANDERS SPRINKLERS
After being turned down by many irrigation companies because I live south of I-20, I called Mr. Sanders who was eager to have my business. Mr. Sanders lives in Mansfield and is actively developing his business in communities in the south side of the Metroplex. Much appreciated!
Mr. Sanders dropped by my home the same day I called. He ran all sprinkler stations, then gave me his recommendation and cost estimate. We scheduled the work to be done a few days later. Mr. Sanders and his crew showed up a little early for the scheduled appointment and completed the work quickly. His final bill matched his estimate exactly.
A couple weeks later, one of the older sprinkler heads was spraying the street. I called and asked him if he could come adjust it and also help me with a sprinkler head that had been hit with the mower. He and his crew came during their lunch break from another job, adjusted the head, and replaced the riser I had broken with no cost to me.
Mr. Sanders was easy to talk to, understood what I wanted done, completed the work in a timely manner, and provided outstanding service. I give him my highest possible recommendation.

Ernesto was prompt and professional when we met to give me an estimate.  He gave me a detailed written estimate and promised to do the work the following Monday. The work was completed while I was at work so I did not see how it was done or how long it took. Everything was done as written in the estimate.
