    Rapid Remodeling Inc
They moved the refrigerator from the kitchen and moved it back when they were finished.  Removed all the damaged subflooring and replaced it with stronger material.  Installed new oak laminate flooring in the kitchen/dining rooms and in the hallway.  Replaced the baseboards and caulked everything.  They even finished in two days instead of three as originally estimated.  My sister now has a beautiful and level, I might add, floor in her kitchen/dining room.  She said it was so nice to have one contractor that could repair both the subflooring and install the new flooring.  It made it so much easier for her.

    Sun Painting Texas LLC
I really like the work that Sun Painting did for me. The timing took a little longer than expected do to materials issues, a traffic accident the crew got caught up in the back-up of and one day that it was misting rain leading to a late start...all things out of control of the crew. The only thing I had to left in question is a section of items listed for replacement were soffits & fascia board...according to the crew chief it means only the bad sections will be cut out and replaced with new wood and not the entire soffit board and fascia board. After the sections were cut and replaced they were trimmed out and made pretty much seamless. As the old saying goes "The devil is in the details".
I was not able to see the completed work on the last day they were at my house. After finding a few things that needed touch ups and completing I sent an email with pictures and called the office the next day. The crew meet me after I got home from work that day and completed the oversights and corrected the issues I found without question. Mark and his team back their work and are all professional and nice to work with.

    Hawkeye Home Improvement Inc
The owner of Hawkeye Home Improvment (Rick Lipsius) responded the same day to my on line request for a quote through Angie's List. An appointment was made at a time convenient to me and Rick showed up promptly as scheduled. Rick evaluated the condition of the property and listened to what we were hoping to accomplish. He had samples of his product with him and provided us with a quote on the sidding that same day. He also provided information on exterior doors that I could take a look at at my convenience. Rick answered all questions and was very personable and very good at being a listener. While he made suggestions as to the products or procedures he would recommend, he was never in any way a high pressure salesman. I spent a week looking at doors and obtaining additional bids. I found Rick's bid to be very competative and more importantly found him to be very responsive to answering any questions and/or concerns I had. I decided to contract with Hawkeye Home improvement and a start date was set. Due to an illness in Rick's family he had to delay the start by one day but communicated this delay to me and was very apologetic. From this point forward the project was very, very smooth from our perspective. He arrive as scheduled each day, made solid progress as planned each day and cleaned up from his work before leaving. When the project was finished it looked even better than I had hoped for. The product itself is excellent, the installation work quality superior and all debris and work materials were hauled away. Rick is a true gentleman and, from everything I can tell, a skilled craftsman. I will use him again with any project I can and would recommend him without hesitation. I have had complements from neighbors on the work to our home and have recommended Hawkeye Home Improvement to them.

    Texas State Remodelers
When I originally set this up, I knew I was working within certain time perameters.  We were going on a vacation, and I needed the work started shortly after we returned.  My wife works from home every other week, so we needed the work completed in a single week so it wouldn't disrupt her work while she was working from home.  The owner of Texas State Remodelers came out to give a bid, told us he was free the week that we needed the work done, that  it would take 4 days to do, but that he was on a big job and couldn't get me an estimate until Friday of that week.  Didn't get the estimate until Sunday, but we eventually got the contract signed, and gave them a check for the deposit, and were told they would be there at 9 on Monday March 12.  He was a little late arriving, but the big problem arose a few minutes later when he told me that he'd ordered a 12 foot door instead of a 9 foot door, and that it would arrive on Friday (after the job was supposed to be finished) at the earliest and the following Tuesday at the latest.  They did start the work getting ready for the door.  On Tuesday they left early at 3 in the afternoon, telling me that they needed some plywood, and that the Home Depot in Duncanville only had 1/4" and the Home Depot in Arlington had the 3/8" that they needed.  They also stated that they had a job in Arlington that they had to check on that evening.  They said that they'd be there at 9:30 the next morning.  At 10:30 they hadn't showed up, so I called.  They said they were at the Home Depot in Duncanville getting the plywood, and that they'd be there shortly.  I guess they forgot they had told me that the reason they took off early was that the Home Depot in Duncanville didn't have the thickness of plywood they needed.  I talked to them when they arrived and explained that I knew there time was valuable, but so was mine, and I didn't appreciate wasting half a day sitting around waiting for them to arrive.  By Friday they'd finished everything they could do without the door (one day more than the job including installing the door was supposed to take), and told me they'd call me when the door was ready. They picked up the door and installed it on March 22, and finished the exterior work and the last of the trim.

The quality of the work was dodgy at best, and I think I'm being fairly generous giving them a C.  The rough carpentry was fine, but the finish work wasn't.  The baseboards they'd had to replace didn't match the existing baseboards, and instead of just replacing the entire wall (a ten foot section) they replaced a four foot piece and just butted it up against the old baseboard.  The mitered joints in the corner had a gap of over a quarter of an inch.  Outside the trim boards had gaps, and didn't meet properly.  The joints between the sheets of plywood siding were uneven, and the nails in the plywood siding sticking up in places.  It took me a couple of days of work to fix the things they'd done a shabby job on.

I would never hire them again, nor would I recommend them to anyone.

    Hassle Free Handyman
They gave reasonable estimate, and stuck to it. Gave sound, valuable advice all along the way. Advised against shoddy approaches. Did EXCELLENT work on all aspects of my projects. Will be using them again, next week! These guys are the kind of handymen we are all wishing for.
