  • I've used Ed Lake Construction over the last near 20 years.  They have assisted in full home renovations as well as little projects that I've had. I have hired them to install kitchen cabinets, paint both interior and exterior, remodel 2 bathrooms, and that doesn't include the dripping faucets and toilet issues.  He and his crew will continue to work on my homes because he goes above and beyond.  He's honest and walks me through any issues that he runs across.  Quality work!

  • Contractor arrived on time and reviewed work I wanted (facia and soffitt repair. chandelier replacement etc).  I have worked with this provider before and was disappointed that I had to prod the Provider for a bid.  I responded with a detailed list of issues in the bid that needed to be addressed/corrected/added.  Nothing further heard from the provider.

  • The estimator arrived promptly and was very pleasant and professional.  When I called a few days later with some questions, he returned my call very quickly.  The estimate was competitive and it was difficult choosing between M&M and the company we selected.  The quotes were comparable in scope and price.  We decided to go with the smaller and entirely local company.

  • We obtained multiple estimates.  The estimates were comparable and competitive.  We picked Pay-less because they are truly a local, small business.  We are very happy with our decision.  The owner Kevin did the estimate.  He did a thorough job of explaining all the work they were going to do and made sure we were on the same page for what was in the job and not in the job.  He has his own permanent crew that has been with him for 12 years.
We received a call from Rudy, the crew supervisor, a few days before they wanted to start the work. He came out the day before they started to personally survey the situation and make sure the crew would arrive with the right amount of material.  Rudy did an excellent job of staying in touch with us and the crew throughout the installation.  He knows what customer service is all about!  The crew arrived by 8:30 each morning and put in full days, leaving around 5:30.  Mid-way through the 3rd day a nasty winter storm blew in ? the crew stayed until they had the walls enclosed even though it started raining and the temperature dropped into the 30s.  The weather prevented work the next day, but they put in a full day on Saturday and even came out on Sunday to finish the job.  The crew was polite, friendly, and professional.  It took 5 days to do the work ? just as estimated. The crew did a good job of picking up debris and nails.  The only negative was a few paint splatters on the upstairs windows, but given how pleased we are with everything else, we didn?t call them back to clean those off.  The installation passed the windstorm inspection without any rework required.
We are extremely pleased with our new siding and with Pay-less Siding as a company.

  • I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, and felt that the carpet in our bedroom was wet. I was not really sure what was going on, so I called our insurance company, and they referred Trendstar Construction to come take a look at our issue. Matt Jones came out and was very professional. He really seemed to care about us and let us know that he was there to solve our problem through the entire process. He was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain the process to us.
He came over, and explained that he was going to have to take the baseboards off to see the extent of the water damage. He took out the drywall behind the baseboards, and set up 6 fans and a dehumidifier to get the water out. He explained that it would take about 3-4 days to get the water out.
After all of that, he came back with a reasonable estimation, and helped us pick out different tile and carpet for the remodeling process. It was nice that he had a good selection for us to choose from.
We were back to normal about 2 weeks later. The work looks beautiful. We are very pleased, and we still keep in touch with Matt. He went the extra mile, and we have recommended him to our friends.
He also helped us with the other bathroom as well. Both bathrooms look great, and it was nice to get them a face-lift.

  • My workshop was pretty much ruined during Hurricane Ike (6' floodwaters). I had started some remodeling and repair work shortly before the hurricane hit. I was removing old weathered T-111 siding, removing windows, reframing and installing new OSB storm sheathing. About half of the structure was in the new OSB storm sheathing when the storm hit. Unfortunately, due to the massive amount of damage sustained to our house, my workshop had to wait till now. By the time I was in a position to rebuild my workshop, all the "storm-chasers" and transient carpenters had moved on to other projects, and construction contractors were somewhat harder to find. I had recently heard about "Angie's List" and decided to give it a try - this is where I found John's "Green Leaf Contracting" company. John's crew restored my workshop in two phases. First phase, which I've already reported on, consisted of rebuilding our roof structure and installing a new 50 year Timberline roof. This last phase involved stripping all the remaining old siding and storm sheathing down to the wall studs, installing all new storm sheathing, wrapping the entire structure in "house-wrap" moisture barrier, installing Hardie-Plank lap siding and painting the entire workshop. What was nice about this phase was we had some concerns about leaving open areas in the walls overnight (vandalism). I expressed these concerns and John's crew made sure the building was secure every evening before leaving the job site. As with any construction job, there is always going to be some clean-up afterwards and his crew did what I thought was an exceptional job of cleaning up. I had jokingly referred to my workshop rebuild as my "Sow's ear to Silk Purse Project". John's crews really did pull it off!

  • .     I really like this guy. He showed up within an hour and half of me calling him, and he had to travel 30 miles to get here because he is currently in Baytown which 30 miles from here. A lawn mower company had taken a big chunk out of my siding of my house with their lawn mower. That left a noticeable area on the siding that was gone. My husband did not know about this. I had hired this lawn mower service against my husband’s wishes.  When they were gone I noticed this place.  I had to figure out a way to fix before my husband noticed it. I called MrBeam, I just happened to have his card here.  He came out within an hour and half or so, maybe even less and he patched it up. If you are not looking for the spot you would not find it.  He is sweetest guy.  He has gone the extra mile to help. He is kind and he has helped me out. He got here quickly which was important for me and he did it for less than a $100.  As for quality it is not a perfect patch job but it is adequate. You have to go looking for it. My husband has not noticed anything. As for his service, his attitude, his willingness to do the job is very good.  I will use his services in the future.

  • I talked with Richard the day before to confirm the appointment. (Before this I talked with Vickie at Handyman who was very nice and responsive to all my needs). Richard showed up a few minutes earlier but that was fine. We talked before the work was done and how he intended to do it. I also asked him about some other projects I had and he was happy to talk with me about them as well. He even called Vickie at the office to ask about something I brought up to make sure his answer was correct. He also explained to me about how he would do all the jobs to make sure they would be done properly. I really appreciated the time he spent with me and all his explanations. Richard even told me that if someone else tells me something I don't understand (like when I buy the materials), to call him for help. I like the idea that I can buy the materials myself. That way I use the store I want and that is all ready paid for so there is no surprises. I really enjoyed working with Handyman Matters and will continue to use them. For me, the hourly rate is a bit high but I also feel that you get what you pay for and the professionalism and the quality of work is worth it. I also am not too schooled on hourly rates, so their rate may be right in line with the work they do.

  • I received a call from Eliel less than 15 minutes after making the estimate request on line. He came out to give the estimate the day he said he would. Met us at a work site where they were finishing up a job similar to ours. After inspecting the quality of their work, we agreed for them to do our job. They started when they said they would, cleaned up the work area each day and completed the job in the time they said. The covered porch looks like a part of the house. We are very pleased.

  • He took off with over $50,000 paid and work not done nor was the material ordered like he told us.
