We also had informed the company of the desire to have a new panel installed and the owner came out initially to quote the work. He did not pull the old panel to inspect the gauge of wiring we had, and as a result, when his workmen arrived several weeks later to do the work, were unable to install the correct size 20-amp fuses in the new panel, siting the new code and improper gauge of wiring. Instead, they then re-used old and USED 15 amp fuses that they took off their dirty and disorganized truck, which had weak springs on several circuits. This caused our home to trip fuses this summer, and we had to have another company come out to rectify the problems (caused by
Lesson learned - beware of electricians that tell you to replace your old "Federal Electric" panel cause it will 'burn' your house down. We believed three such reports, all given by master electricians that were just dieing to put in a newer, expensive panel. This Federal panel in the home for 36 years without incident or breakers tripping, and it was not until we had the old 'dangerous' panel replaced that the real problems began. They don't make '"
After the toilet was installed he noticed it was quite a narrow space, and looked and measured before even calling me so we could figure out what was best. He got his plumber out very fast to fix it so I had enough space. Another thing he did was look at the switches and if we could lower them. This is something I hadn't even thought of, but he knew exactly what needed to be done to lower them.
Making things accessible is something most people don't think of when they are doing the job and it is left up to the customer to explain what is needed, but
Work began almost immediately. Mortar repair and brick replacement went very quickly. I had a few change orders and additional requests while the crews were on site. All my requests were welcomed and completed same day. Carpentry work and roof repair was done the same day as masonry. A few additional repairs were required on the roof - very minor additional cost. Pictures were provided to me to show the damage so I did not have to question the legitimacy. It was very apparent throughout the process that my project manager
The paint crew was able to come in and finish 5 large rooms, ceiling, baseboards and walls within one day.
Not to mention, all of the work was completed timely, smoothly and exactly as expected!

His quote arrived almost a week after he said he would have it to me. Most of what I asked him to do was not on the quote, and what was on the quote was very general. The price was acceptable, but to make sure that he had included everything I wanted done, I wrote him back and reminded him that I had asked for a more specific quote.
After a couple of days he replied and apologized for the lack of specifics, and gave me a quote that was more detailed. As before, the price was still good, but some of the details were still unclear, so I replied and asked for clarification on a few things.
A few of the specifics he included in his next quote indicated to me that he had not listened to me about an important aspect of the job. To ensure that he had understood everything I wanted done, I wrote him back to remind him about the existing state of the house.
A week went by and I didn’t hear back from him, so I sent him another e-mail to let him know that I was still interested in having him work on the house, and that the price he had quoted me was not a problem, but he never responded.
I can try to put his intentional lack of response in the best possible light possible, and make excuses for him, but from the
I am not one to waste my time with someone who chooses to be evasive, so I decided not to use him.
Because I had already been through four other contractors who were vague, and wouldn’t do what they said they would do when they said they would do it, I joined Angie’s List specifically to find a reliable contractor. Based on
fact, his performance was so opposite to his Angie’s List ratings, that I haven’t had any desire to use Angie’s List since then. I can get unreliable ratings from anyone on the street for free. The only reason I’ve logged in this time is because Angie’s List specifically solicited my evaluation of
