The owner, Greg, contacted us immediately to set up an appointment for a free estimate ( which was for the next day). He was very friendly and explained everything that would be involved. He asked if I had any questions and didn't rush me or give me any sales pitches. I felt he was very honest and gave a fair price, so called him later to set up date to start our project. He was able to get us on the books within a week. Greg came out the day before with the head of our construction crew, Mario, to go over everything and make sure there were no other questions. The next day, Mario and his other crew member came out and did a fabulous job. Greg also stopped by again to check on things and take pictures. I couldn't have asked for a more attentive company or a more beautiful screen room. Thank you!

    Texas Custom Patios
We do not recommend Texas Custom Patios for the following reasons: 1. We scheduled an appointment with them to get an estimate for a patio and a pool, and they never showed up. To make matters worse they didn't let us know that they would be a no-show. 2. After they missed our appointment, we called Texas Custom Patios because we were concerned that something may have happened to their representative. The woman that answered the phone apologized and said that she would have someone contact us. We still haven't heard from them.

We hired them to do our patio in 2006 when we moved in our house. We were pleased with their workmanship so we decided to have them extend the patio cover another 12'. So far we are very happy. The salesman, Felix is very knowledgeable and they had the job complete in just a day.

This is not the first time we have worked with JR on a remodel. I am happy to say it will not be the last. This go around we had our covered patio integrated into the house to take the place of a small basically unusable breakfast area. From beginning to end we have been more than pleased with JR. His integrity is unimpeachable. Anything that we questioned, which were very few things, or anything that we changed, which were -well, a few, he was even tempered, patient and always willing to do whatever it took to satisfy our expectations. I can not say enough good things I about JR Smith. If you are looking for a contractor, I think you have found your guy. You better act quick though because I have been referring him to everyone I know and his dance card is probably getting mighty full.

In the beginning the provider indicated we had to sign a contract first and the $95.00 "Coupon" would be applied to the price of the work.  I disagreed with that interpretation.  I intended to sign the contract once I determined exactly what he planned the furnish, that the ACC would approve it, and the final price was reasonable.
The provider continued the project by communicating with the ACC but providing obviously, inadequate information.
I payed $95.00 for the provider to provide necessary dimensioned drawings and sketches to show the patio roof he planned to build over the existing deck, off the back of the house. They needed to be sufficient for the Architectural Control Committee (ACC) to confirm that the improvement would meet deed restrictions, and coordinate  with  the neighborhood architecture and style.
He provided bits and pieces of information that was worthless and was advised so by the ACC. He never complied.
After three or four months drug on, the ACC declined my application due to lack of information.  The provider and I were notified several weeks ago.  I  attempted to contact the provider by email and phone with no success and my messages were apparently ignored.  I want my money back .

It seemed like it took awhile to get the estimate from them. I had to call and remind them. The first time I called and asked why I hadn't received it, the office assistant said that the gentleman had to travel to Mexico, but I think the proper thing to do would have been to call me and say, you're estimate is going to be delayed. Instead, I had to call them and ask what's the hold up?

    Texas Custom Patios
Working with Texas Custom Patios was one of the best contractor experiences I've ever had. From start to finish, this company was prompt, responsive and professional. Mark Hooser was the architect/designer assigned to our project, and I really can't say enough good things about him! He did an excellent job in helping us arrive at a patio design that met our needs and our budget.
Originally, my husband and I thought we'd like an expansive wood or composite deck with an attached pergola to replace our ridiculously small 6' x 6' concrete and quot;patio.and quot; When Mark met with us for the first time in January and assessed our backyard, he gave us a reality check about the cost of such a project, as well as the maintenance that would be required in our humid Houston climate. After agreeing that we would not be the best at keeping up with a wood deck, my husband and I decided that perhaps we could just go with a 400 sq. ft. concrete patio with an attached pergola - an element we were and quot;marriedand quot; to because we really wanted to put up a hammock.
After taking lots of pictures and additional measurements, Mark went back to the drawing board and worked up a patio design featuring an Alumawood pergola attached to the house. But as he kept our budget in mind, it became clear that, to get most of what we wanted, we'd need to make a few sacrifices. Mark then suggested that to get the most bang for our buck - and to add significant value to our home - we may want to build a smaller, covered patio tied into the structure of the house and accented with custom touches. So, back to the drawing board he went.
Mark's second design was the winner: a 200 sq. ft. covered patio built to look like it was an original part of our home, featuring partially brick-wrapped columns, a lovely stained beadboard ceiling with fan (purchased by us, installed by TCP), and a stamped and stained concrete floor that easily passes for natural flagstone.
Each crew that came in to complete their part of the project was prompt (even early at times), courteous and professional. They cleaned up after themselves and made sure we were happy with their work. They did quality construction and seemed to take pride in their craft. It was obvious that they had good working relationships with Mark and Texas Custom Patios. Whenever we needed touching up of paint or stain, they were responsive.
The thing I was most happy with is that Mark was at our home on the first day of construction and regularly checked in either by phone or personal visit throughout the three-week project. In prior experiences, I always hated that after a sale was made, it seemed the salesperson would suddenly disappear once the actual project got under way. Mark not only made sure he educated us to help us get to the right design for our money (complete with color, computer-generated blueprints), but he also stood behind his project every step of the way.
About a week or so after our patio was finished, we realized one of the sprinkler pipes under the patio slab started leaking. I emailed Mark to let him know about the problem, and the main office immediately got back to me so they could cut us a check for the repair. (We had our own irrigation guy do the repair.) This response made us even more confident that any issues that might come up under our included warranty with Texas Custom Patios would be readily addressed.
While the nearly $15,000 price tag may seem hefty to some, we felt this was more than fair considering the higher bids we had gotten for a deck and the level of customization we received on our patio. One thing to consider is to plan your project in the slower months (December-February). By doing this we not only beat the spring-fever rush, but we also received a pre-season discount of 5 percent.
Thanks to Mark Hooser and Texas Custom Patios, we finally have a beautiful, functional outdoor space that we can enjoy for many years to come.

    Houstonian Home Renovations
First the design was developed on the laptop showing a 3D design of the final product. We made a few changes to the number of lights on the patio reducing from 8 to 4 recessed lights. Other lighting will come from 3 ceiling fans and scounces. An existing outdoor water faucet was rerouted to a column on the exterior of the patio. The estimate was very detailed showing each step in the process and costs. There were no hidden costs. Work started immediately upon signing the contract. The materials were dropped off on time and placed out of the way so they would not impede our driveway. The workers worked very long, hot days and insured they cleaned up as best they could each day. After the patio was nearly finished we put in a change order to have gutters installed as well. Again no delay in delivery.

    All-Tex Home Improvement Services
It was a few years ago, but it was a nightmare. The crew started a week after scheduled, worked half a day and left for doctor appointments. They left early every day and did little work while they were here. The manager visited when we complained, but it didn't seem to get better. It took three weeks to get it done. The patio cover leaked water at the house and a parade of people were sent to fix it. They hired out part of the job to contractors who later sent us notices of a lien unless we paid them. We had paid All Tex for the contract work and they did not pay the contractors. Eventually, we hired someone else to fix the siding job they had done. On the good side, All Tex sent someone out two months after the job began to put in a gutter system to control the water run off from a badly designed cover. I hope they have improved in the last few years. They must have done something about their problems or they could not possibly still be in business.

    Lone Star Patio Builders LLC
I wanted an aluminum pergola. Found Lone Star using Google. Heath Seachrist arrived a day or two after I called, showed me information and materials, measured, and a couple of days later had a proposal. He prepared and submitted the HOA approval request, and a week after that was done, the pergola was installed. The installation crew was cordial, worked hard in terrible heat, finished the job, including installing 2 ceiling fans I provided, in about 6 hours. The result is highly attractive and a great addition to our home.
